Rhapsody · 8 February 2005 · Chapter 1: Lindë Nerdanelo
And then our sons came: tallest first, and more like me in face and temper than the rest, beside the second: on the other Shore I feel that he alone may pass the test. I think this part got to me the most. I have been reading a lot about the sons of Feanor and in the back of my mind I always wondered what the relationship would be between Nerdanel and her sons. Something tells me that this must have been a difficult choice for all. And there I would house with them, if I might; yet I cannot: forever they are gone, and now within this gloom, this gathering Night can I perceive no remnant of their Song. If Nerdanel could only hear the laments that her son Maglor sings ... of pain, sorrow and regret. Beautifully written!

Thank you so much, Rhapsody, for your kind words. I had hoped that I conveyed that emotion, and now that you tell me that I have, I am content. It is wonderful to receive such kind reviews; it encourages me, since I usually receive very few reviews for my poetry. I always thought more people needed to write about Nerdanel; and even though I call myself after her, I never before had written anything about her. I was, thus, a bit nervous about posting these sonnets, but I'm glad I did. Nerdanel
