Ooh - I'm all shivering! (I must always remember to read this story with the lights on). This is such a great beginning - I like the history you give of the barrow wights combined with the old ghost stories of Frodo and Merry's youth. And I do love the wight persona you show at the end. I'm looking forward to the next part :)

Brrr...good start to one of *the* creepiest passages in LotR (the only other two as creepy are the passage of the Dead Marshes and Shelob's Lair). So far your theories are very sound, and very spooky...

Oh!! You are sending shivers down my spine. I can just see Frodo and Merry hiding and listening....and then having nightmares. I have always both loved and hated the barrow wight part of the story as I am not into horror. Dr. Who was my limit. More please!
