Lindelea · 1 October 2007 · Chapter 5: And Sleep To Meet
I'm very glad you linked to this from your LJ. I hadn't seen it before! Very sweet, and I love the way you misdirect the reader and then gently bring one back into the track with subtle hints. Very nicely done. I'd comment more on specifics but I am a fair amount past my bedtime, and tomorrow will come early. Makes me wish you were still writing hobbits. Are you?
Author's reply
Thanks for the review, and *sigh* I wish I was too:-( But the last thing I wrote was about four or five months ago. It seems like longer. I miss it.
periantari · 18 August 2005 · Chapter 16: Rosie's Gift
wow how beautifully poignant~ I love how you describe Rosie's thoughts~ very well done! ::glad that this could serve as inspiration for me:: ;)
Dreamflower · 4 August 2005 · Chapter 16: Rosie's Gift
Oh how beautiful! I can easily think this is a goodly part of Rose's motives for having so many children--like you, I don't think a farm lass would lack the knowledge of how to keep from getting pregnant.
Larner · 4 August 2005 · Chapter 16: Rosie's Gift
Yes, this is right, so right, for Rosie and Sam. And she realizes the sea longing which, when finally exercised, will restore him to the other, spiritual love while she is the physical, familial one.
Larner · 13 July 2005 · Chapter 15: For Marigold, On Her Birthday
Very possibly flowers might be better managed by a certain small Hobbit lad. Lovely.
Larner · 13 July 2005 · Chapter 14: Before First Breakfast
Yes, Merry loves his special cousins, older and younger, misses the former, rejoices in the younger, and delights in both.
Larner · 13 July 2005 · Chapter 13: Beyond the World
Yes, he stands there waiting even now to return the heart she gave him, the light of life she gifted to him, to bring her to the delight that awaits those whose frames are mortal.
harrowcat · 13 July 2005 · Chapter 15: For Marigold, On Her Birthday
Great - more lovely fluff! *grins, sighs and reaches for computer duster.* Oh and Happy Birthday Marigold.
Saoirse · 11 July 2005 · Chapter 14: Before First Breakfast
Aww...so sweet :) Merry is so kind; I felt so sorry for him when he began to cry while telling the story! Crying is *not* just for babies and lasses, Meriadoc! At least little Pippin was there to remind him he was still in the good of things, adorable story, Citrine. :)
Marigold · 9 July 2005 · Chapter 14: Before First Breakfast
I love this story, and I have put it on my Recs Page this week! Little Pippin making his way to the head of the bed, and his baby-voice "Ponna time" were just wonderful! Merry was lovely too! I really enjoyed this glimpse of the little cousins! I am pretty sure though that Merry was seven when Frodo left....
Author's reply
Annnd, you're right:o) Lindelea pointed that out, too, so I gave myself a headslap, went to Encyclopedia of Arda and looked it up just to be sure. Yup. Should be fixed now. And thank you *very* much for the rec, btw. Hee! *Blushy-happy-face*
Budgielover · 8 July 2005 · Chapter 14: Before First Breakfast
I followed the link from Marigold's Recommendations to this, and thoroughly loved it.Little 'nappy' bottomed Pippin! I melted into a puddle right there. Pippin's baby 'voice' was so sweet. His adoration of Merry shined through, and Merry's fondness for this interferring little bundle of baby-hobbit shone right back. And yet there was such a thread of grief in the story, expressed in Merry's story. I know I have said it before of your writing ... but you write beautifully. Just beautifully and with such trueness of emotion.
TithenFeredir · 8 July 2005 · Chapter 13: Beyond the World
"'Home, Legolas,' she sighs. My sorrow is such that I cannot speak. Undomiel, sister of my heart! I know it is not Rivendell, nor even Lothlorien that you sigh for, but that far place beyond the world where all mortal things must go, where you fear to tread, where your love stands in the light, waiting." This was heartbreaking and very well written. I don't think I've read anywhere this treatment of Arwen's plight, that she should fear the thing that must be so unnatural to her, and yet it is what she must face to be reunited with Aragorn. Very sad and beautiful. ~TF
Grey Wonderer · 8 July 2005 · Chapter 14: Before First Breakfast
Pippin's line, "Ponna time," made me laugh out loud. I could just hear a very tiny child saying that. This was so sweet.
Dreamflower · 8 July 2005 · Chapter 14: Before First Breakfast
Oh this is perfectly wonderful, and *just* what I was in the mood for, after writing a bit of my own fluff! You brought tears of joy to my eyes, and made me grin. Absolutely perfect from start to finish.
Author's reply
This is such a funny coincidence, because I just finished reading *your* fluff, and I came in here thinking 'Hey, that was really good, Dreamflower's fluff puts mine in the shade', Lol! Ahahaha! Fluff envy! But seriously, I guess we both felt the need for some fluff, after the events of the last couple of days. Thanks for reading, Dreamflower:oD
Lindelea · 8 July 2005 · Chapter 14: Before First Breakfast
I gots lots of favourite bits and one possible little nit-pick. Favourite bits first: The effects were startling and spectacular. Pippin's feet were, as always, colder than a Goblin's hindquarters Merry searched his mind for something terribly dull that might quickly bore a little hobbit into a stupor "Ponna time," Pippin whispered, and snuggled close. Even a little hobbit knew good stories started with those words. "Only babies and lasses cry." (and gardeners) (going on nine years? I thought he was seven when Frodo went away. I'm a nit-picker, you know. Got a reference? If you're right about "going on nine" I need to go back and change a story of mine.)
Author's reply
No, no, you're absolutely right: He was seven. (Thank you, Encyclopedia of Arda.) I was just getting the age he was close to in my story here mixed up with his canon age when Frodo was adopted. D'oh. Sleepy, er, sloppy research rears its ugly head. Guess I'll go fix that:o)
harrowcat · 26 June 2005 · Chapter 13: Beyond the World
Beautiful Citrine. Thankyou.
Lindelea · 26 June 2005 · Chapter 13: Beyond the World
Lovely imagery, very emotionally stirring. Sorry for the lame review, I ought to have gone to bed two hours ago.
Author's reply
Heh, that's perfectly alright, nothing lame about it. I should have been in bed *three* hours ago. Ah, the siren call of the internet:oD Oh look, a keyboard! *thunk* ZzZZzzzz....
TithenFeredir · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 8: Another Shortcut
Oh, poop, sorry about the blank post! I loved this, Pippin very politely defying the King of Gondor in such a hobbity way. Only a hobbit can make a brazen lie seem wholesome! Aragorn's stern demeanor made it all the more funny. Very cute! ~TF
mirthor · 22 June 2005 · Chapter 12: Fallen
Love it!
Larner · 20 June 2005 · Chapter 11: Thranduil's Lady
Sadness of this sort affects not just Elrond, I see. Have seen so many ideas of what Legolas's family was like and why there was no mention of his mother. This, of course, is at least, a familiar reason.
Author's reply
And as can be seen here, Thranduil, being a quite a different sort of Elf than Elrond, isn't quite as forgiving and accepting of her choice-this is practically a divorce, he feels bitter and abandoned, and he just demanded-and got-child custody. Whew. Thanks for plowing through the angst again:o)
Brazgirl · 20 June 2005 · Chapter 11: Thranduil's Lady
Very good!
TithenFeredir · 20 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Tomorrow
"He was very, very old for his kind, and tired, and his beard lay on his breast like a blanket of snow. ...He has left me, but I cannot begrudge him his rest." I think this is a beautifully written portrayal of grief tempered by compassion. One can imagine Legolas tending to Gimli through his decline with patience and love. "Tomorrow the sun will rise, I will walk on the white sand as I shall for countless ages to come, and the cold sea will foam over my feet. How shall I feel it for the greater, colder pain under my heart? Tomorrow Elbereth's countless stars will shine bright above me. How shall I see them for the tears in my eyes?" Again, beautiful words expressing strong emotion, and they flow so gently. Just lovely. ~TF
Larner · 16 May 2005 · Chapter 10: Someday
Ah, yes, I can SO see this happening. Someday has at last come for these two.
Lindelea · 16 May 2005 · Chapter 10: Someday
Ah, lovely, and especially comforting after posting "Heart Calls to Heart"...
