Larner · 28 May 2005 · Chapter 73: Revelations
Aye, stubborn they are, and well worth it for the stubborness. I think Aragorn is getting an education in the Shadow right now.

Larner · 28 May 2005 · Chapter 72: Odds and Ends
Yes, two of the hardest working Hobbits each saying the other is more hardworking. Lovely images.
Author's reply
I'm so glad you liked them!
Larner · 28 May 2005 · Chapter 71: Showers of Joy
Rejoice, for there will be rain when it is most needed. Blessings on them all.
Author's reply
Ah, that feeling after a long dry spell as the clouds mount to the heavens, and then that first whiff of ozone comes just ahead of the rain... Thanks!
Larner · 28 May 2005 · Chapter 70: Where the Shadows Lie
Ah--reliving Mordor would be right in line with the drought and the famine and the fever. Dear Pippin, reflecting Frodo recently to Merry and now Sam.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 69: Remembering Day
Come in good time, and on Remembrance Day.
Author's reply
Seems like appropriate timing. Whew. As a later chapter shows, in the nick of time, actually.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 68: Hobbit Hospitality
What a greeting. Too ill to think properly, or they'd truly realize the uniforms are real and they have their tokens then and there. Hope the men don't become ill, too.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 67: Object Lesson
I'd forgotten the story of the remembrance boats on the river. Ah, yes. No, we don't want Merry's there--not yet.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 66: A Dose of Reality
Good, glad he has learned to keep his complaints about healers to himself when the King is about.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 65: A Sip of Royal Tea
Let he who would be greatest of all be the servant of all. And the King Aragorn Elessar has taken this to heart.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 64: The Hands of the King
Ah, in time. Very good.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 63: All the King's Horses and All the King's Men
This time it is the King himself to the rescue. Break his own edict indeed! Always there are needful exceptions, and I'm glad the King himself recognizes the need.

Answering old reviews, just because. I think I answered a lot of these when they first happened, actually, and then the site got hacked and stories got reposted but the reviews or review replies weren't recovered? Anyway, I have a dim memory of something of the sort happening, and it makes sense when I look at a multi-chaptered story and see the same posting date for every chapter, because while I wrote like a maniac back in the early 2000s, I was not *that* prolific! Blessings to you. We could use an Elessar about now. King and miraculous healer in one. Sigh.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 62: Conundrum
Good! To perdition with the edicts when need is there.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 61: Dark Days
Very much the famine has hit. Hope they all make it in time.

Thanks so much for taking the time to review! The reviews have been lovely, causing me to re-live the story through your comments. I only have time to answer this one, for now. The pestilence, in case you were wondering, was probably spread at the Eastfarthing Pony Races, when hobbits came from all over the Shire to see the races and try to trade for food. It may have spread farther by the waggons of food going out from Buckland to the farthest reaches of the Shire. And of course, being ill-fed doesn't help any. Thanks!
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 60: Red Arrow for the Riddermark
Excellent reason for a visit between friends.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 59: To Sleep, Perchance
Love is there.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 58: To Beg Aid of the King
Stubborn Shire pride! AACK! They need to accept that they deserve the help offered.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 57: Bedside Chat
Blessings on them all as they care for one another, each in his or her own way.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 56: Ruffled Feathers
The Magnificent and the Thain and the Mayor will see all through properly.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 55: Chickens in the Pot
As full of aphorisms as the Gaffer himself, it seems. Lovely, the planning coming together and Aragorn already on the alert.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 54: Sleeping Tight
Yes, misery loves company, even after the fact. Merry doesn't stand a chance.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 53: Mouthful of Bitterness
Aha, so All Souls is in the Shire as well. Good festival to have there.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 52: Five-Hobbit Consultation
At least Pippin and Sam are partly in tune to the conversation with Frodo. Good head on his shoulders, Frodo Baggins.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 51: In Dreams
The healing comes for Merry as it has for Frodo.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 50: Examination
I'm glad that in his dream he sees Frodo in Pippin.
Larner · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 49: Eastfarthing Pony Races
Caught up with him at the last. The illnesses do seem to accompany the pregnancies, don't they?
