Another fic in which books are a good thing.
To me, writing fan fiction is like experimenting with a recipe. The original is great, but you wonder what it would taste like if you added this or that. After tweaking it, you suddenly have something that's a bit different, but hopefully still pleasing.
Be forewarned, Tolkien's characters aren't exactly canon behaved in my tales. I like to add the emotions and habits, the flavors, if you will, of real people to characters such as Faramir, Boromir and Pippin.
