Andrea · 30 January 2006 · Chapter 1
Well, I think I found the story you pointed me to! And a very nice one, I must say! If little Pippin had known, that he really would be in an adventure with Frodo, Merry and Sam ... "I’ll even let you spread your bedroll next to mine if you want." LOL! What a generous gesture towards Bilbo, and so very Pippin! In the end, it was Frodo who wrote down their adventure while Merry wrote his herb lore. If I remember right, Pippin did only collect books and ended up with a well-stocked library, but never wrote a book himself. No wonder I'd say, for Tooks are meant to go on adventures ;-)

You did find it! Thanks for reading this oldie, Andrea! :) I'm so glad you liked it. I feel kind of self-conscious about my earliest stories so it's especially great that you enjoyed it! :) You're absolutely right about the hobbits. To me Frodo and Merry are quite scholarly, but Pippin is not. However I envision Pippin appreciating books more as he grew older - perhaps he saw the libraries at Rivendell and Minas Tirith and they inspired him - but I think what made him learn to love books is that Frodo left one behind, and that is all they had of him. I think Pippin would have loved books after that! :)
