I was afraid it was coming to this. And now I'm more worried than ever about Bandy. I would not be surprised if Thranduil ditched Mirkwood and came running to Ithilien to take care of Legolas.

Lackwit · 13 September 2004 · Chapter 41
Bodkin- "mood-altering drugs"- bwahahaha! I am surprised at just how hard Legolas is taking this. Does it have anything to do with Nardane's unrequited love for him, that maybe she might brood on for eternity in the halls of Mandos? Or was it actually unrequited? Very interesting developments. That little brat sure had a major impact! Looking forward to Thranduil's comments.
Bodkin · 13 September 2004 · Chapter 41
Take Note Queen - you cannot make people do what goes against the grain without repercussions. Poor Legolas sounds in dire straits. Not only does he need Bandobras - he needs a course of mood-altering drugs. And more children to play with. And it sounds as if he needs his adar, too.
Lamiel · 13 September 2004 · Chapter 41
Now this is getting serious. Surely, surely Legolas won't fade over this, however he may blame himself. He's stronger than that. Oh, but I will be glad when Bandobras arrives.
Bodkin · 12 September 2004 · Chapter 40
Legolas does sound depressed. I think he needs Bandobras rather badly at this point. And since he realises it was a desire for fatherhood that made him want to marry, the presence of the children who adore him might not be the consolation it usually is. What was to stop Kalamiril taking those letters from Nardane that showed how badly things were going and showing them to Cirdan, who might then have been able to step in before it was too late? And it does all come back to Laustaire being an undisciplined adolescent who was clearly far too young and immature to be married.
Lamiel · 11 September 2004 · Chapter 40
Oh, poor Legolas. . .
Ms. Whatsit · 11 September 2004 · Chapter 40
Oh, no, poor Elf. Hopefully Bandobras will cheer him up when he gets to Ithilien. I notice he makes no mention of Nardane and her love for him.
elliska · 11 September 2004 · Chapter 40
Poor Legolas. This is really sad. I'm glad he didn't have to endure Cirdan's wrath as well. Unfortunately, I can see him as feeling responsible for what happened since they were, as he said, in their care. He should not feel that way but I think he surely would. With this turn of events (the lady's death), I fear to see the outcome of your warning that this is not a happy tale. It could not get too much sadder for poor Legolas.
TieAillin Alcarion · 11 September 2004 · Chapter 40
Sounds like clinical depression to me, although with VERY good reason. Good thing Gimli is taking things into his own hands and fetching Bandobras--I can't imagine being depressed for long with HIM around! And perhaps he'll somewhat fill the need for a child, at least for a bit. I hope Legolas isn't fading. I'd like to see him married, too. Perhaps now that that need has been awoken in him he'll and he's no longer being forced, that will happen for him (sequel, perhaps)?
Duchess · 11 September 2004 · Chapter 40
Okay, hubby is fussing because we're running late, but I HAD to see if you'd posted and lo and behold you did as I signed in to my email account! *vbg* What a SAD letter for me to read before I leave though! *whimpering for poor Legolas* I really hope he'll be happily surprised by the way all of his friends rally round him now. Especially when Gimli brings little Bandy to him! *vbg* He'll have to cheer up then, won't he? *fervently hoping so* I'm very, VERY glad Cirdan said what he did to Legolas too. *sigh of relief* And the fact that his mother is going to stop trying to foist off maidens on him as well. About time! GREAT story, no matter the angst or because of it perhaps. *chuckle* What a wonderful storyteller you are! :):):) Well I have to run now, we ARE getting off to a later start than planned. See you all in a week! :)
Lamiel · 10 September 2004 · Chapter 39
Oh, this chapter was one of the most moving I've yet read. Legolas' grief by the coffins, and later when he sang the lament . . . it's so sad. I know that it isn't enough to make him fade - not so personal a grief as that, but still heart-wrenching. And, although I am very very glad that Nardane did not romance Legolas herself, her hopeless love is tragic in the real sense of the word, and far more moving than all Laustaire's preening and tantrums. I am so glad that Gimli is finally taking matters into his own hands and going to fetch Bandy back. If ever Legolas needed all his friends, it is now.
Ms. Whatsit · 10 September 2004 · Chapter 39
Hah! I knew it. I knew she was protesting a bit much when she kept talking about how she was unimpressed by his looks. *sigh* How sad. I'm glad Gimli's going to get Bandobras. This is a time for swift Dwarven action.
Chibi_kaz · 10 September 2004 · Chapter 99999: Apologia Slashaphobia
So, I'm not reading this fic, but I did read The Green Knight. I just found your notes interesting. I did very much see the resemblance of GK to Ivanhoe -- enough that I described it as such to a friend. I'd be interested in reading your other fics -- where can I find them?
LOTR lover · 10 September 2004 · Chapter 39
Sheesh. No wonder he blames himself, and none of this is his fault! Poor Laustairë (and I never thought I'd say that!)! Poor Nardanë! Poor Legolas! Get Bandobras to him soon, Gimli!
Duchess · 10 September 2004 · Chapter 38
Aw, I KNEW Legolas would blame himself! *whimper* Why can't Galas go with... nevermind, I remember now. So who WILL go with him so that he won't get too too down in the dumps? :( I'm going to apologize now, in case I don't have time later, for not reading upcoming parts. Going out of town tomorrow morning for a long awaited vacation to the beach. Just hope van lets me enjoy this and stays out to sea! *hating hurricane season with a passion*
Lianna · 9 September 2004 · Chapter 38
Oh, dear. Can elves fade from guilt? Because we know one elf who is going to blame himself for these deaths -- even though you'd have to stretch things to the breaking point to construe any of this as his fault.
Joana · 9 September 2004 · Chapter 38
Poor Legolas. I know I sound like an histerical fangirl but I really wish I could be there to confort him. Only his friends or a new love can help him now. What happened to Laustarie and Nardane was really sad. Hopefully king Thranduil and his mother will come as well.
Ms. Whatsit · 9 September 2004 · Chapter 38
So Galas confirms to Eomer what we already know. I'm still wondering how Cirdan's going to react.
Lamiel · 9 September 2004 · Chapter 38
Oh, poor Legolas. I knew he'd blame himself. Dear Elf, it isn't your fault that you were pushed into a betrothal with a git. And not even Aragorn can convince him of that. I suppose only time will help, time and a visit from Bandobras.
LOTR lover · 9 September 2004 · Chapter 38
"...for the moment my sole concern is for the heart and mood of my Lord, who within moments of reading your missive seemed to me to wither inside; he weeps not yet his face is gray and set, and I like not the look in his eyes." He's not contemplating anything really stupid, is he?
LOTR lover · 9 September 2004 · Chapter 37
Oh. Oh, dear. Poor Eomer, when he finds out what he's done with this entirely innocent letter.... And that stupid girl! Took herself out, Nardanë, two horses, and probably the whole relationship between Cirdan's and Legolas's realms. I hope her stay in Mandos makes her grow up.
Duchess · 8 September 2004 · Chapter 37
Well darnit, Nardane DID die, didn't she? Hopefully Laustaire had time to repent of her wickedness before the end there. *sigh* I feel sorry for Legolas to recieve this letter, I really do. *shaking my head* I wanted her to be punished and made to apologize before she died, but maybe in Valinor she'll get her chance, one day. So how IS this going to end? *curious*
Aislynn Crowdaughter · 8 September 2004 · Chapter 37
So it is as I thought: they are both dead, and Laustaire did not only manage to kill herself with her stupidness, but Nardane as well. And mangaed probably to cause a lasting rift between Cirdans house and the one of Legolas... stupid, aggravating girl. What a sad outcome!!! It is really sad for Legolas, though, because he will probably blame himself. And as for the style this is written - greatly done, Le Rouret!!! Again!!! Eomer in all innocence speaking of the dissoluted bethroal and that the differences between male and female should be surmountable, then in equal innocence asking Legolas to come and uidentify the two dead elves - this is a masterpiece of writing. It makes one want to scream - what an horrible end of this whiole affair! I feel bad for Nardane. Although at the end I began to really dislike her when she tried to rescue the wedding at all costs even after what laustaire had done at the tornament, and despite of her own better knowledge that Laustaire was not good for anyone, much less for Legolas. And all this just because Cirdan had charged her with ensuring this union and she feared for her good graces with him! still, she did not deserve to come to an end like that. And the way she froze to death, holding the dead child... she really could not help herself; she must have felt toward the irritating elven teenager (well, fifty-ager, but apparently just about 16 in human years) like she was really her daughter. Laustaire now hopefully will have a long, long stay in Mandos, I think, not only because of the harm she braught to others (namely to Nardane) with her thoughtless fit, but because her feá will probably need a few hunderd years just to get out of her angry stubborn pretense that is was all *the others fault*! Oh, well... But I fear what Legolas reaction to the news shall be! Great chapter Le Rouret, as ever! Aislynn
Elenora · 8 September 2004 · Chapter 37
*GASP* Uh-oh...this story has just suddenly taken a decidedly major plunge into serious "angst"! While I admit I wondered if the goofy-head...uh, I mean Laustairë, might be "killed off" eventually, still to read the details of it in Eomer's letter and to imagine the reaction from Legolas...well, you are probably getting sick of hearing me say it, but SAD!! Poor Legolas!! And knowing his gentle nature, he'll be guilt-ridden, I'm sure, even though knucklehead...uh, I mean Laustairë, knowing full well the conditions outside, made the choice herself to leave. If Legolas was in need of Bandobras before (which we know he was), how much more so now. Oh, his poor master!!! *SOB* By the way, I loved the exchange between Aragorn and Arwen...especially considering they were in the same building!! That was great. And this business about Legolas being wanted at everybody's "laying in"...this is killing me!!! That was absolutely priceless, this idea of Legolas being the "midwife of choice" in the area! My, my, it adds such an interesting nuance to his already delightfully colorful and intriguing character. I'm enjoying all the twists and turns of this story, chuckling at all the luscious, dry humor, and grimacing at the pain Legolas is going through... and looking forward to more! Elenora
Nymh · 8 September 2004 · Chapter 37
Oh man. Break my heart. Poor, poor Nardane, and yes, the brat too. Wickedly done, Le Rouret, lulling us into a sense of security with Eomer's prattle. I can just see Legolas reading the request for a midwife, with a pained expression, skimming the news from Rohan. Then - wham. The image you painted of Laustaire and Nardane was brutally beautiful. I just hope he wasn't alone when the letter came. Gah.
