Gimli did not discuss Legolas’ claims about the history of these stones, for his friend was like a living book, who could tell of ancient times not as he had read them, but has he had lived them. I loved this line about Legolas from Gimli. Very good. So sad for all of them when the father killed his own son. I can't imagine what they will do now. I am wondering if Gimli will go with these men without a fight.

So far, I like it. I think you are doing a wonderful job with the characters. They seem very true and I like the relationship between them. I enjoyed the battle and their banter also.

This is fasinating reading. I wonder what this illness is and if it can be stopped. I am also curious about what happened to Bomieth's son and what this two-headed creature can be, if it exists.

Grey Wonderer · 11 September 2004 · Chapter 0: Prologue

Now that was quite a prologue! I can't wait to read the rest of this. The image of Legolas still looking calm and graceful just before death while Gimli begs for his life is amazing clear. I could see the entire thing as I read it. I am looking forward to more of this one.

I've been waiting for the continuation of this story, and I am not at all disappointed. I think this is the best chapter you've written so far. It's rich and atmospheric, revealing some tantalizing little hints of information (Samuel knows Gloin? How?), deepening the mystery, and above all, featuring a wonderfully dramatic, tense scene between Samuel and Gimli. Both of those characters are richly drawn and complex. One can almost see the gears in their minds turning as they work to stay ahead of each other. There are just two things about this chapter that bothered me. One is the fact that you seem to have rather a lot of visual description for a dark, moonless night. It's not that the descriptions aren't interesting; they are very interesting, but none of the characters in the scene would be able to see any of what you've described. The other thing is that you have some interesting turns of phrase and homonym problems that lead me to believe that English isn't your first language. If this is the case, first let me commend you for writing such a lovely, complex story in English. You might want to consider finding a native English speaker to look over your work once before you post it and catch some of the homonym problems. Good job! This story is improving by leaps and bounds, and I am glad to be reading it.

Ah boy.........poor Legolas. Bad luck doesn't get much worse than that. :-( *tsk tsk* What a dilemma. I'm very curious to see how you get them out of this one!

Kelsey · 8 August 2004 · Chapter 3: Chapter three

I absolutely LOVE your story!!!! I was hoping that it would be more current than your version at FF.net, but seeing as its not, and I can review here, I'll leave a review. What is going to happen!!! I really hope that you won't kill Legolas. Will he be able to find some cure to help the inflicted? Will he send Gimli to Gondor for help? Will either of them become inflicted as well? PLEASE update soon!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!

Eruanna · 1 August 2004 · Chapter 2: Chapter two

Hee hee! Funny. ;-) That's about all I have to say for now. ;-) Keep it up!

your style of writing here leavres something to be desired.... not that i don't understand it, but it would be much more interesting if the events followed more of a storyline.

Mirari · 30 July 2004 · Chapter 2: Chapter two

...I think I can see where the two-headed creature is coming from. xD Just thought I'd let you know I've been lurking.

French Pony · 24 July 2004 · Chapter 1: Chapter one

Hey, I remember this story! I like the changes you've made. The logic of the plot flows a lot more smoothly now, and it makes your writing style much more enjoyable. There are two minor points to clear up before you continue. The first is that Caranthir, the cruellest of Fëanor’s sons, had fell upon the Men should read, "Caranthir, the cruellest of Fëanor's sons, had fallen upon the Men." The second is that Their costumers and friends should probably be "Their customers and friends." Other than that, this story is much improved, and I can't wait to read the rest of it.

I am very excited about this fic! The opening chapter really set the scene and injected a fair amount of tension. I'm non-too happy about these tales of evil elves and the treatment of Legolas and Gimli... lots of angst and I *love* it! Please... UPDATE SOON!

diva · 23 July 2004 · Chapter 1: Chapter one

super interesting so far! I really want to know what happens to Legolas and Gimli also! Please update soon!!

wantanelf · 19 July 2004 · Chapter 0: Prologue

I'm hooked. I'm curious about Legolas' short cropped hair. Hmmm. How did THAT happen!?! Sounds nice and angsty. Just my cup of tea! I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

OK - just a minor cliffie there, right? I actually feel rather sorry for Tom the executioner, he so obviously doesn't want to do this - so why is he? This is a very good set up, and I can't wait to find out how they got into this mess, and how they're going to get out of it! Jay
