· Chapter 11: Taking Care of Merry
Ahhh! What a sweet little cousin. How could you not want to protect him.
Author's reply
Oh, I'm sure Pippin has his moments when you just want to strangle him, lol. But he is the sweetest thing most times, isn't he? He's getting some good practice for taking care of his Merry later on. Thanks for reading!

· Chapter 10: Pippin the Bullroarer
This is great!! I love anything about Pippin (naturally) but this is especially good. The two different points of view, and the whole wolf-Bullroarer thing is just perfectly paced and perfectly clever. Reminds me of when I used to do things like that...wait, that was yesterday.....
Author's reply
Thank you! Pippin is wonderful isn't he? Especially as a child, I just have so much writing him at this age. He's one of those kids that are so darn adorable you can't possibly stay mad at them that long, no matter what they do. Pip's got a lot to live up to, with the legendary Bullroarer in his bloodline, I imagine he (and many other of the Took children) made it a regular habit to pretend to be just like him. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading. :)

· Chapter 10: Pippin the Bullroarer
Wow, quite a day for little Pip. First he defeats a whole pack of wolves (and seems to know an awful lot about how wolf packs operate - has he been eavesdropping?), then he's so very brave when facing unexpected trouble, and then he's the most generous hobbit that ever lived. It's so great that the little lad who never gets sweets and loves them so much loves Merry more and is willing to share. Just adorable! Thanks.
Author's reply
Pippin? Eavesdrop? No, not Pippin! He was just making that up as he went along. Pippin's just the best isn't he? Well, next to Sam natually. ;) Merry is the only one he would save a cookie for. Not even Frodo would get that honor. Glad you liked it, thanks for reading!

· Chapter 10: Pippin the Bullroarer
This is adorable! Really it is! Sweet and funny and warm (even if it *is* about frozen hobbits!)
I love the alternating POVs--Pippin, who has obviously been taking a page from his Cousin Bilbo in a story-telling mode, being "the Bullroarer".
Merry, thinking he has outwitted the little one, wanting to slip out and be with the older lads himself. (It didn't escape me that he was the youngest of the teens to slip away.)
Hyper!Pip again: you certainly know the way to *my* heart!
And Merry, being so sweet and caring of him afterwards--just as "the Bullroarer" planned (uh-huh!).
And the final crowning touch: Pip saved him a cookie! Awwwwww...
*Sweetsweetsweet*
Author's reply
You can never have too much Hyper!Pippin. After tormenting - and basically ignoring - him for the last two ficlets, I thought it was time to make him center stage again.
Pippin has quite the imagination and after hearing Bilbo, and Merry and Frodo, tell him endless stories has made that imagination blossom. Either that, or he was hallucinating from the sugar high, lol. And he kinda sorta planned it that way, he wanted to spend time with Merry and he certainly got that. Wasn't planning on being the hobbit icicle though, but as Merry said, no plan is flawless.
And Merry, yearning for some time with kids his own age for a change. He should know by now that there's no getting rid of Pippin. And there's nothing to make him feel more guilty that having his little shadow save him the last cookie. Pippin showed a lot of restraint by not eating them all.

· Chapter 9: The Trouble With Lads
I really like Estella's point of view. She and Vinca make a formidable team - and Merry clearly finds them much harder to counter than a few hundred orcs or a Witch King. Rightly, I'd say. Keep him in a state of bemused confusion, Estella - it will do him good!
Author's reply
Vinca is the "formidable" part of the team, Estella's the trusty sidekick, lol. I imagine that after dealing with Estella all those years, orcs and nazgul looked like a walk in the park to Merry. He got knocked down a peg or two here, he'll be a bit more humble around the girls from now on - as he should be. ;)

· Chapter 10: Pippin the Bullroarer
What an adorable - and exhausting - child Pippin is. And inescapable. I am occasionally just a touch sorry for Merry, who never seems to get any time with those of his own age. Of course, he doesn't mind much.
Author's reply
No, he doesn't really mind. Merry loves his little shadow and misses him when he isn't around. The ones I feel sorry for is Pippin's parents. Now they're the ones who really never get a break from him. But he's the baby, got to love him.

· Chapter 9: The Trouble With Lads
Another brilliant chapter! Very well written and it rounds out the story as we now have everyone's view (except Vinca but we basically know her thoughts from Estella). Terrific, thanks, keep more coming!

I think if I told Vinca's POV, I'd have to up the rating to PG-13, lol! Thanks for reading.

Very well done for Estella, she knew how to put Merry in his place. Merry didn't know what hit him! Give Pip a few more years - then he'll really be confused by girls. Thanks for reading.

· Chapter 8: The Trouble With Lasses
I love this side of Estella. I like the way she gets Merry exactly where she wants him even though it appeared that he had the upper hand in all of this. Looks like Pippin is right, those girls are nothing but trouble. Merry may be older but Estella is the one that knows exactly what she's doing.
Author's reply
Estella knew exactly what Merry was attempting to do and she knew just how to handle the situation. Merry will think twice before trying to outsmart her again. Pippin knows his sister far too well. Merry should have listened to him! Glad you enjoyed this.

· Chapter 8: The Trouble With Lasses
*Hoo-boy!* I chortled myself silly with this. It's a shame they could not have had Frodo's good advice on evading females--after all he's managed to stay a bachelor all these years! Poor Merry, his fate is sealed!
Author's reply
Merry never stood a chance, lol. He should have listened to Pippin for a change, or listened to Frodo and not ignored her in the first place. But somehow, I don't think that would have made too much of a difference. Glad this gave you a laugh.

· Chapter 8: The Trouble With Lasses
Another wonderful chapter, but, honestly, "infected"!!! I think I should be horrified and insulted for all girls, but it's so perfectly young Pippin! Going from both POVs was great. Thanks for a laugh. Oh, the wileyness of girls...go girls!

Author's reply
Well, you know us girls have cooties, lol! Give Pip a few more years, he'll change his tune. I get tired of fics where the girls are all prim and proper all the time. I thought I'd let them have some fun this time around. Glad this gave you a laugh.

All these are wonderful! HyperPippin has to be the best. Yay Sam! I love it when he saves the day! Thanks! I needed a laugh.
Author's reply
Thank you so much! Glad I was able to give you a laugh. Hyper!Pippin is a handful, in fact, he's several handfuls, lol. Sam to the rescue as usual. Now if only he could find a way of keeping a Took out of that pantry.

*giggles* I love it!!! Hyper hobbits always appeal to me, for some odd reason, especially Pippin!! Wonderful Job!!! *Hobbits and chocolate, a match made in heaven...or elsewhere, depending upon whether you're a little hobbit or a little hobbit's mother!*

Or a little hobbit's cousins who get stuck trying to wear him out, lol! Hyper hobbits are fun and Pippin, who's hyper enough as it is, would be unstoppable. Thanks for reading, glad this gave you a giggle.

· Chapter 7: Chocolate!
Sam is such a star. He is the archetypal loyal henchman - the one who can do anything, but still thinks Mr. Frodo is the cat's whiskers. Whereas, I'm glad to say, Mr. Frodo knows that without Sam he would be cats' meat.
Lovely tale of indomitable Pippin.
Author's reply
That's Sam all right, practicle, level-headed, capable of anything, but more aware of everyone else's abilities than his own. Frodo's all too aware of how much he needs his Sam around, and now Merry's joined the bandwagon too. Hyper!Pippin is one of my favorites, almost as much fun as Inquisitive!Pippin. Thanks for reading.

· Chapter 7: Chocolate!
LOL! I want to adopt Sam, too! I have an 11-yr old lad who reacts the same way to chocolate - OFF THE WALL! Sam would be a great sitter. I love the easy, loving relationship you portray with our cousins, the simplicity of Sam's solution to the problem of a sugared-out Pippin, and the final picture of them all lying together in a heap, wiped out. Except for that sneaky Pip! These are just precious stories. I do hope you will continue them. :-)
Author's reply
Yes, everyone should have a Sam, he's a very valuable commodity. :) Sam would be a wonderful sitter, he has such an easy-going manner. I'm sure he has all kinds of tricks up his sleeves to keep a child preoccupied and entertained all day without exhausting himself in the process.
It's been a long time since I've been around a bunch of hyperactive kids, but I certainly remember what it was like. That's something you never forget! Add to that a mischevious Took and you're in for trouble. At least Merry and Frodo got worn out. ;) Thanks for reading and thanks for the lovely review. I'll post more as I think of them.

LOL! This is precious and priceless and I just adore it! I'd forgotten how relentless that 4-yr-old thing is. I can just see Pippin doing this to poor Merry. Wonderful!

I think that's the first question kids learn how to ask and they use it to excess. Pippin is no exception, and in fact, he raises the bar, lol. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading!

You're welcome, and thank you for reading. Knowing Pippin, he'll probably take four bags next time they go mushroom raiding, and wouldn't that be a sight? They'd come home mushroom drunk, lol! Glad you enjoyed it.

Author's reply
You're very welcome! But nothing is better than a whole jar of chocolate syrup, though little Pip does come close. :) I think the only thing more dangerous than a bored Took is a Took on a sugar high, lol! Bilbo will be buying locks for those pantry doors. ;) Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for reading.

Oh, that was marvelous! And I can attest to how accurate the characterization was of little Pippin, as I had a VERY similar conversation in the car with my almost-five-year-old daughter yesterday afternoon. I was falling off my chair just now, laughing, and my husband says he appreciates the story too.
