Great piece; encapsulating the horror of battle into a short span of words. I think the wounded man must be Faramir; but it could be a Swan Knight, or a man of Harad, almost any horseman.

I'm glad to hear it works. It was a standalone piece I'd written much earlier but hadn't really fitted in anywhere so I made a drabble of it:) It's intended to be Faramir but yes, you're right it could be others in the battle. To my Faramir-preferring mind though it'll always remain Faramir:)

What a great little birthday present! Gimli is very much Gimli; the clever builder. Nicely done.
Author's reply
Thank you!:) I'm truly delighted you liked your birthday present. Gimli is not a character I have written much before, if ever, so to hear he does sound himself is good:)

I like the quick flashes of images here: the orb, the fighting, the animals, the sails. Like a thirty-second film, telling your story very vividly and concisely.
Author's reply
Thank you again:)
I'm glad the effect of scenes flashing works. I think in that state of mind, Denethoir would have only registered all he saw as brief scenes, but they would be all the important scenes.

These are all so well-crafted and insightful! It never ceases to amaze me at how much can be shown in 100 well-picked words!

Hi Dreamflower:)
Thank you for such lovely words.
I'm really delighted to hear you like these drabbles:) Can I shamelessly SSP and say that there is another set of drabbles under Interludes, if you'd like to read?
thanks once again!

I *adore* this image!
Author's reply
Thank you! I'm very glad to hear that... I'd got back to writing after a gap of many months with this one:)
