Oh, I couldn't stop laughing!

Celeste Lucretia Black · 15 May 2021 · Chapter 1: The Patient

I'd like to hear about it as well

Dreamflower · 15 August 2007 · Chapter 14: First Meetings

Your new story somehow put me in the mood to re-read *this* story, which is my favorite among your longer stories. You know what? I liked it even more this time around! I don't know of any other fanfic writer who can manage that perfect combination of humor and sentiment the way you can--it's always just right: no matter how slapstick the comedy, you have that touch of love underneath that always grounds the story.

Author's reply

Awww, thank you! That is so sweet of you to say. I'm glad you found this one worth reading over and another review too! You've gone and made me blush but I liked it!

EstellaB · 28 April 2006 · Chapter 14: First Meetings

This story is very cute :)

Author's reply

Thank you. It was once a bunch of story stories and then I framed them and turned them into this. Glad you liked it.

Pathvain Aelien · 14 July 2004 · Chapter 14: First Meetings

I just now noticed that you had posted a new story up on Arda, so I had to come read it right away. I loved it, especially the clever way that you were able to tell so many different stories. I think it might be my new favorite. :P

Author's reply

Why thank you so much! I am very glad that you enjoyed this one and thank you for the lovely review.

Tialys · 12 July 2004 · Chapter 14: First Meetings

Great chapters. I loved Pippin and Estella's dance and would have loved to actually see it. Pippin was so cute with Diamond and they finally got their dance! Yay! Your description of her was beautiful. Wonderful job! ...Tialys

Author's reply

Thank you. I always picture Diamond with dark hair for some reason. I love to see folks who know what they're doing dance because I was never any good at it so I would love to see this dance the way it looked in my head while I was writing this. Glad you enjoyed it.

Hai Took · 12 July 2004 · Chapter 14: First Meetings

All that trouble that Frodo goes to and then Pippin and Estella mess up his attempts! It was a right funny story! It sounds like maybe Estella is getting use to speaking to Pippin in the right manner at least she got him to ask Diamond for a dance! Poor Diamond hinting about it all the time while Pippin just stood there! The last bit with Saradoc looking in on Merry and Pippin was very sweet! Thank you for such a wonderful story!

Author's reply

Glad you enjoyed it. Seems poor Frodo's plans didn't quite work out the way he intended but at least things turned out all right in the end. Put in that last bit as an afterthought and it seems to have worked out. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the lovely review.

PIppinfan1988 · 11 July 2004 · Chapter 14: First Meetings

He had worried that his Merry would never be able to return to a normal life. He had watched Pippin jump at the slightest sound and reach for a sword that he wasn’t wearing. He had watched Merry leave a lantern lit in his room at night and wondered if his only son would ever sleep peacefully in the dark again. They were, both of them, changed. That was true enough, but there still remained a great deal of the two lads that he had watched grow up. - GW Oh, my gosh, isn't that so true? This is exactly how I see our beloved Merry and Pippin post-Quest, however, after writing a "certain" story, I'm going to revisit their childhood again for a bit. Your story had a lovely ending--or shall we say "beginning"--for Pippin and Diamond. Thank you for sharing this wonderful tale! :-) Pippinfan

Author's reply

Thank you for reading this. I always enjoying hearing what you think of this things. That is probably as far as I will ever go with the Diamond and Pippin romance. Others have done such a lovely job on it that I don't think I'd try it unless a very different twist occured to me, so that bit is probably my beginning and my ending on it. They just dance off into the sunset and live happily ever after.....

PIppinfan1988 · 11 July 2004 · Chapter 13: Ring Around The Springle-ring

Oh, my that was soooo sweet!! I'm so sorry for not finishing this up sooner--I had started it, but got distracted. All I can say, is it's a good thing I only have my dog here, because I was sitting here laughing my butt off! You wrote the dance "contest" beautifully! I felt like I was one of the observers! Watching Pippin expertly twirl Estella above his head like a baton while a crowd of hobbits looked on reminded me of one thing: Saturday Night Hobbits!! All Pippin needed was a white polyester waist coat and his curls slicked back... :-) Pippinfan

Author's reply

LOL I never thought of that! Pip in the white suit, now there's something to think about.............. oh, sorry distracted for a minute. I am so glad that you enjoyed this, but how did your dog like it? Hope you were distracted by something good, like a new story that you are writing or more chapters of Roses?

Elenar · 5 July 2004 · Chapter 14: First Meetings

I loved that Estella was the one that pushed Pippin into asking Diamond to dance. A very nice story.

Author's reply

Thank you! I thought she just might have to stand in for Merry on this one as poor Frodo seemed to be striking out. LOL Thank you for reading this and for the reviews!

Dreamflower · 5 July 2004 · Chapter 14: First Meetings

Yayy! Pip *finally* got his dance with Diamond! This was lovely, the whole story was, in fact; I really loved your ending, with Saradoc coming in and finding the lads asleep, and realizing that however much they have changed in some ways, in the important ways, they are still just themselves. Beautiful! Thanks for wonderful story!

Author's reply

I'm pleased that you enjoyed it. I couldn't let Pip not get his dance on his birthday. As for the ending, I had thought to go another way with Estella and Merry the next day, but decided against it and went with this quieter ending. I shall save Estella and Merry for another story.....

Anso the Hobbit · 5 July 2004 · Chapter 14: First Meetings

Ah! What a wonderful ending! I like your Estella. It was fun seeing the conspiracy they all made towards getting Pip and Diamond to dance, and how nice it ended. I love your Saradoc too, he loves his Merry so much and it`s wonderful to read about the care he has for his son. Wonderful story!

Author's reply

Thank you! For some reason I have always been fond of Saradoc. Glad you enjoyed this. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Pearl Took · 5 July 2004 · Chapter 14: First Meetings

Bravo!!!! Most excellent!! It was worth being dangled over the cliff. I adore the part at the end with Saradoc as well.

Author's reply

Thank you. Sorry about the cliff business. LOL That bit on the end with Saradoc was a last-minute decision. I am very glad to see that it worked.

purrlin · 5 July 2004 · Chapter 14: First Meetings

Thank you. I love your hobbits and I'm hoping we will see more of them. I'm truely hoping that we will learn more about the romancing of our favourite hobbits. Again, thank you! purrlin :)

Author's reply

I had no intention of writing any sort of romance when I started this one. It was going to be mostly birthday silliness, but then Diamond showed up and all of the sudden it was a bit of a romance. I'm glad you enjoyed it and my take on the hobbits.

PIppinfan1988 · 5 July 2004 · Chapter 12: Dance With Me

"Then close your mouth and dance you vile, annoying, pest or I will break several of your fingers,"Estella assured him. - GW Dang! LOL...Merry had a tough little bird on his hands!! :-) I really am enjoying your viewpoint on Pippin and Estella's initial relationship. I've thought about it from time to time, but I've not really written a *canon* story surrounding them--and probably won't for a long while, so I've not explored it. Very nice! Pippinfan

Author's reply

I believe that eventually they became very close, but I think the beginning must have been a bit rough on both of them. I don't think Merry would have been happy with a quiet, easy-going lass and so I write Estella with a strong will of her own. Can't wait to see what you decide to do with them when you get around to it.

PIppinfan1988 · 5 July 2004 · Chapter 11: Birthday Cake

Fantastic!! Loved young Pippin "turning on the charm"...perhaps that's why he's got me wrapped around his hobbity little finger! Onto the next chapter... Pippinfan

Author's reply

Yes, charm and lots of cake. Could life be any better? LOL

Pervinca · 5 July 2004 · Chapter 14: First Meetings

Poor Peregrin. He reminds me of several lads I know - not to mention myself! I really liked the scene of Pippin and Estella dancing - I really love the relationship you've developed between those two. This was such a clever story - you managed to work all those little stories into it very well. Great work, GW! - Pervinca

Author's reply

So glad that you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

melilot hill · 4 July 2004 · Chapter 13: Ring Around The Springle-ring

What a great description of the dance! I was laughing the entire time. Luckely this time it wasn't only Pippin who made a mess of things :)

Author's reply

Glad that it made you laugh. Pippin had plenty of help this time.

Elenar · 4 July 2004 · Chapter 13: Ring Around The Springle-ring

I loved this chapter, I was laughing throughout. I loved the dance contest between Pippin and Estella and poor Fordo being crushed under them all. Great story.

Author's reply

Thank you. I have one last chapter to post and then I think I will be finished with this one. I'm glad that you enjoyed it.

Dreamflower · 4 July 2004 · Chapter 13: Ring Around The Springle-ring

Now this was a hoot! I love it! But Merry is really going to have to take Estella and Pippin both in hand and make them realize they have to share him, poor guy. And Frodo did accomplish what he set out to do, even if he did get a bit squashed!

Author's reply

It didn't work out like Frodo had hoped, but then match-making can be dangerous. Yes, Merry has his work cut out for him doesn't he. Let's just hope he gets to finish healing up before he has to face this task.

hobbit_lass · 4 July 2004 · Chapter 13: Ring Around The Springle-ring

That was great! I loved the 'dance challenge'! I wasn't at all sure who was going to come out the victor in that situation. I especially liked the descriptions of Pip and Estella as they were trying to list all their bad points and ended up with good things instead- This is such a great story, and I can't wait to see if Pip finally gets to dance with Diamond:)

Author's reply

Thank you! Glad the dancing came off well because I had no clue how to dance the Springle-ring! That was why I went with different variations for everyone. Figured one of them had to be right! LOL Pip and Estella want to hate each other but they do seem to be having trouble doing it. Funny, but when this one started, Diamond was no where in the planning. She just turned up and became a big part of the story. It might help me in my writing if I knew what I was doing! The strangest things happen to my little stories. Rather like Pip and Estella's dance, twists and turns and spinning in a circle.

Pearl Took · 4 July 2004 · Chapter 13: Ring Around The Springle-ring

Better, but you're still cruel!! An absolute riot, with the two of them trying to out-do or kill each other.

Author's reply

You are a regular slave-drive Miss Took! LOl Don't worry, you won't have to wait much longer. The next chapter just needs a bit of correction and then it will be up and running. I am glad that you enjoyed my little dance-off. I could just see them spinning out of control. I suspect that Frodo may decide to give up on match-making after this. LOL

hobbit_lass · 4 July 2004 · Chapter 12: Dance With Me

"The things that I am willing to suffer through for you, Merry Brandybuck. She grabbed Pippin’s wrist and fairly drug him out onto the dance floor. " How funny! I loved how Frodo had to talk Estella into helping and then Pippin didn't want anything to do with dancing with Merry's lass- Great Chapter!

Author's reply

These two are a bit jealous of each other just now, but I think that they will work it out. Match-making is a dangerous business and Frodo and Estella may be in over their heads. Glad you liked this one. The next one is up just now.

Pearl Took · 4 July 2004 · Chapter 12: Dance With Me

You wretch!!!! I rarely pester someone to post quickly, but . . . please post quickly!!! This is too much fun to wait too long for the rest of the tale!

Author's reply

LOL Your update is here! New chapter has been posted. Thank you for the lovely review and I'm glad you like this one.

Dreamflower · 4 July 2004 · Chapter 12: Dance With Me

Poor clueless Pippin! That's what happens when friends try to help out your love-life, isn't it! You have a bit of a prickly relationship between Pip and Estella, makes for some nice tension. And now I've come to the end, and no more chapters, *sigh..* (Reminding myself why I don't often read WIPs--oh well, you don't seem to keep folks hanging too long. Please update soon, I want to see how the Springle-ring goes.

Author's reply

Just updated with a new chapter. Seems that Frodo and Estella are having their troubles with their match-making efforts. I wrote a challenge story for Marigold called "The Ramblings of Peregrin Took" and that was where my view of the Estella and Pippin relationship began. I thought that Pippin would be less than happy to be sharing Merry's time and so might Estella. Two hobbits that might have gotten along under other conditions, might be at odds over jealousy. They are both devoted to Merry and Merry is caught in the middle for a time.
