Poor Merry! To be so tired he couldn't even get out his reasons to see Frodo and Sam! At least he got some sleep! I liked the way you described Merry seeing Frodo and Sam and talking to Frodo, very sweet! I look forward to all of them being reunited again! Can't wait for more!

Author's reply

Thanks. I keep thinking, next chapter is the reunion chapter and then getting to it and finding out it's not. I'm pretty sure chapter ten won't be the reunion chapter, but we'll get there eventually. :)

Bluegrass Elf · 3 August 2004 · Chapter 9: Seeing is believing

Good writing, I realy like this story so far, please write more.

Author's reply

Thanks, I'm glad you like it so far :) I have at least a few more chapters to go before it's done so you will definitely get more.

Grey Wonderer · 3 August 2004 · Chapter 9: Seeing is believing

Merry's reaction to seeing Frodo and Sam was wonderfully done. You showed how sad he was at their condition and yet how relieved he was to finally be able to see them. I love the way he comes back and tells Pippin that everything is alright but really seems to be reassuring himself while Pippin sleeps. Oh, and Gandlaf was perfect!

Author's reply

Thanks. Merry is starting to recover a bit from the Black Breath and he's able to see that things aren't as bad as he feared, but he still needs lots of reassurance. It's hard for him to be recovering himself but needing to take care of everyone else at the same time.

pipinheart · 3 August 2004 · Chapter 9: Seeing is believing

Real good... All of them are healing from thier wounds... Pippin is starting to remember and merry is doing better since he is around those he loves.... Great job.... update soon.....

Author's reply

Thanks for the support, Pipinheart. I'm glad you are enjoying this.

GamgeeFest · 2 August 2004 · Chapter 9: Seeing is believing

Loved your description of Frodo and Sam's tent. It sounds so peaceful and healing in and of itself. Was interested to see your description of the Ringbearers as well, I could see them so clearly in my mind. Merry's praise of Frodo and reassurance to Pippin was sweet.

Author's reply

I'm glad you liked Frodo's and Sam's tent. I'd like a tent like that myself. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment :)

pipinheart · 26 July 2004 · Chapter 8: Echoes of the Past

Author's reply

Thank you very much. I'll be updating in a few days or a week.

good_one_pip · 24 July 2004 · Chapter 8: Echoes of the Past

Awesome story!!!! I was in tears at least once during every chapter. A few times I was trembling all over like the charaters. I'm a LOTR fanatic, and my 2 favorite characters are Merry and Pippin. The author impressed me. I could seriously believe this is what they were thinking. Long live the Hobbits!

Author's reply

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed this!

Grey Wonderer · 21 July 2004 · Chapter 8: Echoes of the Past

Oh, that's right leave me here with Merry, waiting fornews of Frodo and Sam. Cliff hanger? I know what happens but I am looking forward to your version of it all. Waiting for more.

Author's reply

I'm glad you're liking this. I'll be updating in a few days or so, as soon as my brain starts working again (traveling is just killer on the old brain cells).

Grey Wonderer · 21 July 2004 · Chapter 7: The Meaning of Dreams

The two of them always seem to comfort each other best. You do these hobbit very well and I am enjoying this very much. I am wondering how Merry will react once he is able to see Frodo and Sam and realizes the things that they have gone through. At least he and Pippin are on the road to recovery.

Grey Wonderer · 21 July 2004 · Chapter 6: Overwrought

Poor Merry! He is so tired and so filled with worry for everyone. Seems as if Pippin is remembering things now so maybe that will reassure Merry a bit. Looking forward to more of this one.

Grey Wonderer · 21 July 2004 · Chapter 5: A Friend in Need

I love this. I have only just gotten the chance to read it tonight and am enjoying it very much. Your Merry is wonderful. I like your vesion of all of these events. Laughed out loud at the talking bruise line. Very enjoyable story.

Bluegrass Elf · 17 July 2004 · Chapter 8: Echoes of the Past

Oh, poor Pippin! I'm glad he's alright.

Author's reply

I decided with chapter eight that Merry needed a break so I decided to torture Pippin a bit instead :) He's not having a lot of fun, getting his memories back.

Lotrgirl1415 · 13 July 2004 · Chapter 8: Echoes of the Past

aww poor Pippin! loved it!*hugs*

Author's reply

Thanks! These last few chapters have been pretty rough on Pippin but he's gonna get better soon, I promise :)

Lindelea · 13 July 2004 · Chapter 8: Echoes of the Past

Merry makes me chuckle. 'About Frodo and Sam...' His surge of emotion (the paragraph where he's angry at Elrond for letting him and Pippin come, and his thoughts about what he anticipated the journey to be like, and the reality of it) was very well done. Nicely written, giving a wealth of information in an economy of words. Looking forward, as always, to the next chapter.

Author's reply

Thanks, I'm glad you liked this chapter. Unfortunately, it's going to be a while before the next one comes out. I'm off on a real life adventure (of sorts) for several weeks. I'll try to make the next chapter good, to make up for the long break. :)

Hai Took · 13 July 2004 · Chapter 8: Echoes of the Past

Poor Aragorn! All he has been taking care of not the least it seems Merry's reaccuring problem! At least things turned out for the best that Merry got to Aragorn as soon as he did! Poor Pip, now re-remembering everything that has happened! It looks like he is getting through most of it now! Looking forward to more, especially to finding out about Frodo and Sam!

Author's reply

Yes, I think Aragorn is feeling sorely overworked at the moment. He won't complain, though, as he thinks he is responsible for Merry's problem. It's going to be a several weeks before the next chapter comes out, as I'm heading out of town for a few weeks.

Bluegrass Elf · 10 July 2004 · Chapter 7: The Meaning of Dreams

How nice. It maked me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Lindelea · 8 July 2004 · Chapter 7: The Meaning of Dreams

Tenacity... very "Merry" indeed. The tension kept building through the chapter and I wanted to scream, "FEED THE HOBBIT!" So glad you did feed him at last. We're all feeling a bit better now. Very bittersweet ending. Looking forward to more.

Author's reply

Sorry for all the suspense. I'm glad you stuck through to the end :) I thought I would give you a bit of the extended version of chapter seven. I wrote this for the scene where Legolas is briefing Aragorn and then ended up cutting it. "He seems to be feeling better. He was asking about breakfast." Legolas informed Aragorn. "What?!" The ranger looked at Legolas, feigning horror. "A hobbit was asking for food and you didn't feed him immediately?" Aragorn backed away from the elf. "We are not in the habit of torturing our friends here, Legolas." Turning his head slightly, he winked at Merry. "I want you to go get him some food immediately, and we'll speak more on this later." Turning his back on Legolas, he moved over to Merry's cot.

TopazTook · 7 July 2004 · Chapter 7: The Meaning of Dreams

<> I loved that bit, with Aragorn driving poor Merry nuts. It's so in character for that hobbit. Wonderful Pip/Merry interaction, comfort and worry for each other. More soon, please!

Author's reply

Thanks, Topaz. I'm working on chapter eight and it should be ready to go next week. :)

Bluegrass Elf · 1 July 2004 · Chapter 6: Overwrought

Oh no! Whats wrong with Merry? *hugs Merry*

Author's reply

Answers will be forthcoming in the next chapter, don't worry. We'll have Merry on his feet in no time :)

Anso the Hobbit · 1 July 2004 · Chapter 6: Overwrought

Poor Merry! He´s so stubborn and he´s not well. I´m glad that Aragorn is there to help him . I really love this story! As Pip is getting his memories back, he hopefully will be able to help Merry too.

Author's reply

Yeah, Merry could fool nearly everyone else into believing that he's just a little tired but Aragorn is another matter altogether. I feel bad for him because he's suddenly been handed yet another sick hobbit to deal with...lol.

Elenar · 30 June 2004 · Chapter 6: Overwrought

Poor Merry, I hope he feels better soon. I am glad that Pippin seems to be getting his memories back. Looking forward to more.

Author's reply

Thanks. Merry is going to be feeling better soon. He is back amongst his friends and they will be taking care of him now. :)

shirebound · 30 June 2004 · Chapter 6: Overwrought

Gosh, I do love this story. I'm so glad Aragorn knows that Merry isn't well. Stubborn hobbit! And this is terrific... "shouting loud enough to wake the trees." What a perfect thing for an elf to say!

Author's reply

Aragorn is here to save the day. He'll put Merry to rights and have none of this 'I'm fine' nonsense. I'm glad you're continuing to enjoy this :)

GamgeeFest · 30 June 2004 · Chapter 6: Overwrought

Poor Merry's been through the ringer worrying about all his friends. It's not surprising that he snapped. Probably the best thing he could have done. Aragorn should encourage him to speak of his dreams though. Maybe Pippin will be able to help there. Good to see Pippin getting some memories back, even if they are a bit jumbled up. That's to be expected. Hopefully, the memories won't shock him too much as they come back. Still no word on Frodo and Sam. Will Merry be finding out their fate soon? That would do much to ease his mind.

Author's reply

Don't worry, Merry hasn't forgotten about Frodo and Sam. He was just very focused on Pippin and then he got sick before he could do the next thing on his list, which was ask about Frodo and Sam. He doesn't really think Aragorn knows anything about their fate, but he knew that Aragorn would know what had happened to Pippin.

GamgeeFest · 30 June 2004 · Chapter 5: A Friend in Need

As worried as Merry is about Pippin, I would think he'd ask about Frodo and Sam as well. But maybe he's afraid to ask, fearing that he will learn that his assumption that they're dead will be confirmed. Even if he didn't ask though, I'm surprised Aragorn didn't give him some information about them. Memory loss can be common with head injuries. Pippin must be confused and frightened of all the strange men about. Loved the comment about Queen Beruthiel's cats.

GamgeeFest · 30 June 2004 · Chapter 4: Nightmares

A hobbit without an appetite is definitely something to worry about. He's literally worrying himself sick. It was good of Faramir to give him a pony. Merry's been feeling like useless baggage for so long, at least he didn't have to worry about being someone's burden on top of everything else he's dealing with. What a horrible nightmare. I hope Merry won't suffer too many more once he arrives at Cormallen and finds his friends are healing.
