I just saw these little stories and they are all so very good! I enjoyed every Chapter very much! And the last words Merry says... ach...*sigh*..I can SO understand him. I would trade with Pippin at once. Having siblings... yes, that would be great!
Author's reply
Thank you! This is one of my older ones and it is always nice when someone visits an older story and takes the time to let me know that they enjoyed it. Thanks so much, Golden!

· Chapter 1: Sisters
This one made me laugh . . . and cry.
"He sipped the tea that his mum offered him and looked around his room at all of his sisters standing around his bed. No, they weren’t so bad when you thought it over. Sisters weren’t so bad at all. "
Precious (the good kind of precious ;-) )
Author's reply
Thank you! Way back when I wrote this, it was actually going to be one chapter long and then I hit on the idea of giving each sister a chapter and the story just grew from that. I am very glad that you enjoyed it and thank you for the lovely review! It is always fun to get reviews on stories that have been posted for a while. Makes them seem new.

Thanks for the review. I have no clue who nominated this one. I was surprised when I saw that it was on the list. Glad you enjoyed it again.

SQUEE! That's just adorable : ) Your stories make me happy, and I just had to review this one, because my family's just like Pip's: three girls and then my little brother. I'd be Nell, although I have never made any of my cousins eat a worm. They're all much smaller than me and I'd get in fierce trouble ;) I love how you bring life into a bunch of names in the appendices, you're very talented, although (not to be rude or anything) the words 'smial' (very easy mistake to make) and you seem to have a bit of trouble with commas. But absolutely wonderful characterisation and description and loads of squeeful pippin! : )
Author's reply
Thank you for reading. Somehow, I never got the review in my email and so I just found it tonight. I am glad that you enjoyed this and thank you so much for the lovely review.

That was so sweet! I liked how you wrote Pippin's perspective on each sister finding what he did and didn't like about each! The first chapter was cute about having to wash the dishes. The last was best! Makes you feel kind of bad for Merry! It was wonderful thank you for sharing it!
Author's reply
I re-wrote that last chapter several times. I am glad to hear that I finally got it right. I worried over that one the most so it's nice to hear that it worked. Thank you for the review and I am glad that you enjoyed this.

What a great end to a wonderful story! As always I love how you have Merry and Pip talk to each other! And the way he wanted to trade all 3 sisters for the pony was hilarious!
I laughed out loud when Merry thought he could take Nell and win,and Pippin was like yeah right! That was excellent!
Family is something that we all want to trade at some point or another, but would miss terribly if they werent there.
Great Story!

Thank you for reading this one. I always wanted a pony and never got it. No one would trade me either. *sigh*

This has been an absolute gem of a story! I love very much Pippin's take on these sisters of his, especially the bit where he contrasts their attitude when he gets in trouble. And of course it would not have been complete without Merry's take on it as well. I'm so glad you showed how he felt about being an only child, and of course Pippin would not really want to trade--most of the time anyway! Now, how about a story from each sister's POV on their baby brother?

This is a "rare treat"--reading about another author's portrayal of certain characters. So alike, and yet so different. A fantastic ending!

What a lovely thing for Pip to say! Our Pearls may have the same temperament, but are quite different otherwise. I love your Pearl! Marvelous characterizations.

Author's reply
Thank you. Glad you liked Pearl. I sometimes feel that she has had her hands full with the rest of them. I did think that even though he complains about them all, Pippin wouldn't like to see any of them leave.

Awww. What a pair. Your Pimpernel is a sweet gal, unlike mine! lol... Seems we are in agreement with the farming thing. I write Pimpernel as going off to the fields with her father at a young age, too. This is such a nice tale! I'm really enjoying it!

· Chapter 2: Pervinca
This is too cool! Your Pervinca is quite different from mine, and I got the heebee geebies while reading it. It's as if you were describing me and my older sister when we were kids, which is where I get a lot of my material for my Pimpernel. It will be interesting to see how you characterize *her*...
Pippinfan
Glad your muse is "rearing it's ugly head"! I'm happy to see you extending your story. :-)
Author's reply
My muse has gotten quite ugly of late. I may have to put her down if she gets any more ideas. LOL She is keeping me too busy. This was supposed to be a ONE chapter story!

· Chapter 5: Rare Gifts
Hehehehe - my own little brother was lucky. His voice broke quite quickly. If he had had the cracking problem, he would not have heard the end of it from his dear elder sister :P I used to tease some of my guy-friends so much, hehehehe. I was so mean :P
Merry doesn't really need to trade - he's almost a part of the family anyway! :) But I'm glad Pippin came to his senses - a pony instead of a wonderful sister like me? No challenge at all :P
I think it's great that such a little idea became such a wonderful story. Fantastic work GW!
- Pervinca
Author's reply
Thank for all of the wonderful reviews. Lets me know how this worked. I also enjoyed writing this one and for some reason, I see Merry as one of Pervinca's biggest fans. LOL I think the two of them are both very strong-willed. Hey, Pip had his chance, but I am very sure he would have regretted it. A pnoy would have no idea how to remove a bucket from a hobbit's head would it?

· Chapter 4: Pearl
Wow, I don't know how you managed to do it, but you gave those three lasses three wonderful and different personalities! (I made Pearl and Pimpernel very similar, and then Estella and Diamond are a little like Pervinca...) Of the three, Pearl would be the thinking one and the peace-maker. Being the eldest, I suppose it makes sense. But the mice...oh, that was fantastic!
And now, on to review the final chapter :)
- Pervinca
Author's reply
Thank you so much for the reviews. Glad you enjoyed the lasses. Somehow the mice just made sense to me. Mice are so against order. LOL Also, on a farm there are bound to be few here and there. Now, I think your Pearl and Pim are not so much alike as they are in league with each other. I think of them as being very close. As to the other three, I think of them as the lasses with a sense of fun and adventure. I love all of your characters.

"She is the most likely to indulge me and she is the one that pleads my case with my parents when I have been up to no good. Nell won’t give me away to them, but if I’m caught then she lets me dig my own holes. Pervinca will dig the hole for me and shovel the dirt in on top of me. "
Oh, that one made me laugh...I could just hear Billy, er, I mean Pippin, saying those lines...

LOL I almost always hear Billy when I write Pippin. I know I shouldn't, but after seeing the movies so many times, I just can't help it. Glad someone else so in the same boat. Thanks for the review and I am glad that it made you laugh.

· Chapter 4: Pearl
Pearl is wonderful! Totally organized, poor lass, someone needs to be in that family! LOL!
Another great chapter to a really cute story.
"Pearl also never panics. I have come to her bleeding from both knees, my nose, my elbows, my head, with both eyes blacked, and once, though I don’t wish to discuss it, with a bucket stuck on my head. Nothing panics her. I have tested her and she will remain calm and sort out whatever the trouble may be. She will stop bleeding, bandage wounds, hold cold cloths on swollen eyes, bring down fevers, find missing blankets and remove stubborn buckets from your head. The only thing that upsets her is mice."
I loved that paragraph- He had to test her to make sure she never panics!
Bravo!

· Chapter 1: Sisters
O what a lovely story! Your characters are distinctly drawn. Each has a unique personality, and the inter-relationships are believable and not cliched.
So much of it rings so true. You don't happen to know an only brother of many sisters IRL, do you?
This would have been great as a stand-alone one-chapter story, but I'm so glad to hear there's more!
Looking forward to reading more when I can get the chance.
Author's reply
Thank you. I don't know any younger brothers with many older sisters. I reversed this a bit. I have a friend who has five older brother and one older sister. She's the baby girl of the family. The way those brother look after her was used as a model for this with changes to fit older sisters. I have heard her complain many times and yet, she adores everyone of them. Hope you get a chance to read the rest, but not if it cuts into your writing time. LOL I need you to finish Starfire as I am now awaiting the big race.

· Chapter 3: Pimpernel
Aww, another sweet account of one of Pippin's sisters! You know, this is probably the first time I've seen Pimpernel as Pippin's closest sister. Usually it's Pearl (the big babying elder sister, I suppose), or in some cases Pervinca (since she's the closest in age anyway), but I liked how you've been original! I especially liked the scene about Pim (sorry - Nell :P) and Pippin tossing eggs at each other! Ah, the fun of living on a farm :)
Well, Pervinca and Pimpernel were wonderful, let's see what Pip thinks of biggest sister, Pearl :)
- Pervinca
Author's reply
Thank you. I have tried to show each sister in a differnet way. I think he is close to each of them for different reasons. For some reason, when I wrote this, I thought it might just be that one of the sisters was a sort of tom-boy type and I decided it would be Nell. Glad it seemed a bit original as all of this has been done in so many different ways. It gets hard to have a new slant on these things. LOL Hope you enjoy Pearl as I am posting her in a minute. Then there will be one more chapter to wrap it up after that. My one chapter story just became a five chapter story.

I like this tender view of Pippin's sisters, told through his eyes- our older siblings do much to shape us as people, and this is a wonderful story.
Author's reply
Thank you for the lovely review. This is one of those stories that just came out on its own without warning. Sometimes I do that. In writing this one, I have found myself wishing that Merry and Frodo had a sister or two. I haven't the nerve to attempt a story about Sam's family. So pleased that you are enjoying this.

· Chapter 2: Pervinca
Oh, wow, that was so freaky! So many of the things you said about Pervinca are the same with me! (Except for the sewing part - I once tried to make a dress... let's just say the results were less than pretty. Calico does not make for good dress material :P) But the not being able to sing, the throwing tantrums and pouting...it was incredible. Like reading a little biography, lol
This is a really cute way of setting it out too, having Pippin explain his feelings for his sister. Definitely looking forward to finding out what my little brother *really* thinks of our sisters :P
- Pervinca
Author's reply
I think it's so funny that you have so much in common with my version of Pervinca. You really should learn to sew and complete the likeness. This one was supposed to be a one chapter story and it just seemed to have more to say. I am so glad that you are enjoying it.

I am trying to stop this one at some point. I thought it was over, but it is still coming! Pippin is right. He does have too many sisters and so there will be at least two more chapters of this. Don't want to leave anyone out. Just don't let me start one of these about the Gamgees because I might not live to finish it!

It was very hard to work up any love for those raisins, because, as you know, I don't like raisins. I would have wanted to remove them to save the muffin dough from tasting like icky raisins! Oh, so sweet! This is definitely the type of story that can stand by itself, or can have more chapters added to it. Personally, I'd like to see a few more chapters (but that's probably got something to do with my unhealthy obsession with Pippin's family!).
You've managed to give all three Took-lasses perfect personalities, even though they hardly even appeared in the story! Wonderful work :)
- Pervinca (who's very pleased to have just read a story about herself :P)
Author's reply
This is something I have wanted to do for a while. I wanted to write more about Pippin's sisters and his relationship with them, but so far, this little one here is all there is. I have a small idea for another chapter, though. I am glad to have the approval of one of the 'sisters' on this. So glad to hear that Pervinca enjoyed herself in the story. She is the one that I have in mind for the next chapter later on. I only hope she makes a good impression. You write her so well, that I don't know if there is anything to add. I thank you for the review, Miss Took.
