Hehe! I made a valid point. I feel so proud. Hehe. An excellent chapter again. Once more you have the hobbits exactly as they should be. *glomps foolish Merry and brave Pippin, brash Sam and ... 9-fingered Frodo* And I love how you write Saruman - the way you describe how he weaves the power of his words. Magical. (No pun intended). Am looking forward to the next chapter and it's Frodo&Merry centric-ness.

Ooh, great chapter! Pippin, my hero!;)And that was so thoughtful of him to give Elladan the Star-glass!:) Too bad Merry let slip about Frodo... Now Frodo just has to contact Gandalf or the others without Sauruman knowing...:/ Keep up the Great work! Namarië, ~Lossenchristal:)

Wow! This is great stuff. Pippin is always surprising everyone. I bet none of the others would have guessed he could be such a little hero. Oh, I just love him in moments like this. I can't wait to see what Saruman is up to. I think he's going to find Frodo much harder to deal with than he thinks. For some reason I got an image of Merry trying to bodily harm to that no-good wizard. I have no idea where that came from, but he is very loyal to Frodo and would want to protect him in any way he could; and he is the most likely of all four hobbits to try to settle a conflict physically, in my opinion anyway. Also, thanks for the encouragement. Connie.

Oh, dear - Meriadoc Brandybuck, I really wish you had not given Saruman that information about Frodo! Oh well - I suppose it was inevitable that he'd either trick them into giving it to him or he'd figure it out himself as I think he is cunning enough still to do so! I anxiously await the next chapter!

T-Man (thetman) · 27 March 2004 · Chapter 3: Unexpected Meetings

This is outstanding. I usually only like Sci-Fi stories, and it takes alot for a fantasy story to have me interested to the point of being on the edge of my seat. This has succeeded in doing just that. I will most defiently keep my eye on this story. It's only a pity you can't publish it, then we could have LOTR4: Mind to mind ^_^!!!

Pearl Took · 27 March 2004 · Chapter 3: Unexpected Meetings

Oh dear! Fool of a Brandybuck! Two well and whole but worried; two gravely injured; two held captive. Quite the tale you are weaving.

GTA Otaku · 27 March 2004 · Chapter 3: Unexpected Meetings

Awe, my little Pippin all brave and strong and getting to camp. I sense evil goings on in Saruman's mind, I also sense that although the period of waiting for the next chapter will be a painful one, it will be worth it : - D

Budgielover · 27 March 2004 · Chapter 2: Stormclouds

Everyone in the story so far seems to be injured/frightened/lost ... now, why do I love that? Seriously, the tableau you have arranged is masterful. Of course we adore a hurt Frodo, and your descriptions of him are always a delight. I was especially struck by your detailing of him holding aloft the Phial of Galadrial, "like a center of a star drawn to earth." The use of the twin-bond between Elladan and Elrohir was wonderful. There are so many little touches in the story that give the hobbits (and Elrond and the others) wonderful personality, like Merry wandering off to explore and wondering what the caverns were for. And of course, the fascinating premise of Saruman and Worm finding them helpless and separated from the others... *Licks lips in anticipation *

I am fascinated by the concepts you are raising in this story. You have spent a long time thinking about this plot line, and it shows in the careful articulation of ideas that you are putting forth. That Frodo underwent such a transformation is absolutely correct but no one has said it in so many words. What an original, creative plot line, open to any direction you care to take it. I'm not sure it is even so AU (yet) as everything you described could well have happened. I wanted to compliment you, too, on your swing from humor (Pippin's take on his role in the War of the Ring - so entirely in character!) to the sorrow and pain of Frodo's suffering. When I was reading how Frodo was feeling with the headache, it reminded me of how a migraine hurts - that pounding, that sharp pain. Even the description of the Elf-lord banishing it sounded like relief from a migraine. Such little touches of realism so add to a story. Wonderful idea. I'm looking forward to watching this story develop.

Anso the Hobbit · 21 March 2004 · Chapter 2: Stormclouds

Poor Pip! How is he faring now, buried under all the debris. And bad, bad Saruman. Please continue soon!

fadagaski · 21 March 2004 · Chapter 2: Stormclouds

*claps* Another excellent chapter. I'm glad you didn't decide to hang around too long with lots of backstory. That can get a bit tedious, but this is straight to the action! Joy! 'Your' hobbits *wink* are great fun to read about. Poor Pip! I hope he isn't too badly hurt! Well, the sadist in me does hope so, because there's nothing more fun to read about than a suffering hero. Frodo and Merry ... *evil cackle* I love what you did in linking Elladan and Elrohir. I can imagine that being an integral part of their brotherhood. Of course, following that line of logic, it must have been something strong to have brought Elrond back when Elros coughed it!

fliewatuet · 20 March 2004 · Chapter 2: Stormclouds

An interesting effect you have given Saruman's voice here. I wonder whether the bond between Elrond's sons is strong enough to counter its effect. And I dare not think about what Saruman has in store for his Hobbit captives.

Pearl Took · 20 March 2004 · Chapter 2: Stormclouds

Again, Merry and Pippin are split-up, and now so are Frodo and Sam! (I know, they were before too but not for as long) And even Elladan and Elohir are apart from one another. It will be interesting to see how they all handle this.

Ariel · 20 March 2004 · Chapter 2: Stormclouds

This bodes well! HEHEHEH... Another 'Avalanche' perhaps? heheheh... Always did like that fic. Please, do go on!

GTA Otaku · 20 March 2004 · Chapter 2: Stormclouds

Ah...no...bad saruman bad saruman *Hisses like a cat* Good chapter good chapter *patts Shirebound on the head* Please let Pippin be okay :' - {

Meldewen Ilce · 20 March 2004 · Chapter 2: Stormclouds

Oh my - Shirebound - you can't possibly leave off there! *shudders* To think Saruman and Grima now have 3 of 4 of the Hobbits - and oh dear Elladan is in trouble as well! Oh my - you MUST continue this very soon!

Rebecca · 20 March 2004 · Chapter 2: Stormclouds

Ooo, another lovely hobbit-story from shirebound! And what an interesting premise, too. I don't think I've reviewed you before, but I've read all of your stories on FF.Net, and it's probably about time that I let you know how much I've been enjoying your work. I do love your hobbits! And this story is making me squee with delight because you're including my favourite Elf twins--they will have major-ish parts, won't they? I'm also looking forward to finding out what happens to Frodo and Merry in Saruman's grasp, and I'm (hopefully!) awaiting seeing some wonderful Merry-moments. He's been my favourite hobbit for years (though I adore all of them), and I don't think he gets enough credit. In any case, please please update quickly! This chapter left me staring at the screen waiting for more to come up. What is Saruman planning? What did he mean when he said 'plenty of time to work'? Where is Pippin, and what is going to happen to my poor Elladan? And I feel for Elrohir and Sam, trapped away from Elladan and Frodo and the others--I think that, for those two, knowing that something's wrong but being unable to get to the people they love must be more terrible than being in danger with them. Thank you for sharing this story with us, and I'll be not-so-patiently waiting for your next update!

PIppinfan1988 · 20 March 2004 · Chapter 2: Stormclouds

The Age of Saruman, eh? He is so deluded! I wonder what possible reason a fairly useless Wizard would have in taking the hobbits as prisoners? His only wiles being his tongue. *Extrememly* eager for another chapter soon! Funny--I always imagined you sitting upon a high stool, as Bilbo did in the Fellowship movie, as cool as a cucumber weaving your tales in your own little Red Book! :-) Pippinfan

Connie · 20 March 2004 · Chapter 2: Stormclouds

I just love this concept. Long ago I speculated that at least two of the hobbits had latent telepathic gifts. I never got around to writing anything about it though. I suspected fron the first time I read the books that Frodo had some sort of second sight, or something. His dreams of events happening in other places could not be coincidence. I thought that with the proper training he could learn to communicate with Gandalf or Aragorn at least. I also think Pippin has a little of this ability, too. You only see it once for sure, and that's when he senses Aragorn following the orcs. I'm probably reaching for straws, but that's the fun, isn't it? I've toyed with writing something about Pippin and his talent, but haven't gotten around to it. I am really enjoying this story. Saruman can sure still do a lot of damage. It could be particularly bad when he realizes he has the Ringbeared in his clutches. I'm glad Pippin escaped his notice. But I know this may be a mixed blessing. I hope my favorite little hobbit is all right even though he's buried under a large pile of rock. Can't wail for the next update. Thanks. Connie.

girlofring · 20 March 2004 · Chapter 2: Stormclouds

You want more of the silver people, I want more of this story, too. That evil Saruman and Worm are on the loose again. Will Saruman try to control Frodo? Put him under his spell? I wonder. Hurry Lord Elrond and rescue your son! And Pippin? Maybe to save the day? Keep writing. Just love it!!!!!!

Lossenchristal · 20 March 2004 · Chapter 2: Stormclouds

*clutches popcorn tightly, nearly crushing the container..* ooh, the suspense, the drama! I love stories where Elladan and Elrohir are injured and they feel each other's pain! Please hurry up and save them though! I don't think I (or my popcorn;) can stand it much longer!:)That was neat that Frodo still had the Star-Glass and used it!:) Namarië, ~Lossenchristal

Elwen · 20 March 2004 · Chapter 2: Stormclouds

Oooh. Unconcious Frodo. And where is Pippin? It's to be hoped that someone comes to the aid of that poor elf too. Your Saruman is deliciously nasty. You're far too good at writing him. I worry about you. ;)

Sandy K · 16 March 2004 · Chapter 1: The Three

SB, this is fabulous! I can't wait for the next chapter. :)

Elentari · 15 March 2004 · Chapter 1: The Three

What Pippin said just solidified in my mind that this is going to be one great Shirebound fic... that was so precioussss on what he said... that whole dialogue: PRECIOUS!!! “You did not win the entire war by yourself, Peregrin,” Merry was saying quietly. “Yes, I did,” came Pippin’s sleepy voice. “Who woke up the Balrog so it could fight Gandalf and he could get more powerful and wizard-y than before? Who got us free so we could run into Treebeard and get him angry enough to rip Isengard to pieces? Who got Sauron’s attention in the Stone so Strider knew what would happen when he looked into it, and draw the Eye to him, and not Frodo and Sam?” Pippin stopped for breath. “Who was---” and then Sam says too bad you can't throw the Ring in and Pippin says "I couldn’t be everywhere at once, you know" LOL soooo funny =) aww Pippin~!! :D :D :D :D and this i liked too: Frodo saw that they were approaching the camp. “Please put me down before we’re seen; I don’t want anyone to fuss.” “You never do,” Elrond smiled, setting Frodo gently on his feet. yep..Frodo never wants to be fussed with... i guess hurt/comfort fanfic writers like that about Frodo's stubborness eh? lol (so therefore torture and comfort him some more lol =) can't wait for more Shirebound! =) great job.
