I`ve really enjoyed reading this story! I really liked Pippin`s determination to be a better Hobbit and learn from his mistakes.

Author's reply

Thank you, Anso! I did't want him to change in any drastic way, just enough to realize that crass humor isn't for every situation--or Pervinca. Thanks for reading and reviewing! Take care. Pippinfan

Oh, a wonderful ending! You're as bad as me with all the couples you've made in this one. And you made mention of Pippin and Myrtle as a couple (I've used them once, though mainly so that Pip could make Celandine jealous!). The ending was so perfect - thank you for that little Merry/Estella hint. You know what would be even better? A sequel! But, you don't have to :P And I may just take up that offer to try my hand at the bonding scene. I'll have to see when I have the time :)

Author's reply

I think I've gotten to that part--chapter six, I believe (don't want to give anything away). I've used Celandine in an unposted story already, and seeing that she was the object of his affections in your story, too, I decided Myrtle needed some attention. I suppose I could've made up a character, but I think JRRT was winking when he wrote these two ladies as being around Pippin's age. Perhaps he was implying that he at least had the opportunity to play the field before meeting up with Diamond! :-P And to be honest, I had the story written all the way through chapter nine, but decided it wasn't "concluding" a lot of things, so I wrote chapter 10. It was sort of my "epilogue". You-know-who really was a scoundrel, Pippin really was growing up in that he was quite fond of a particular lass (I once wrote Merry having his first kiss at 16), and the tweens were off and on their way to adulthood in their party socializing. Thanks, Pervinca, for reading the story and reviewing! It means a lot. :-) Pippinfan btw--I hope you eventually do find the time! I'd really like to read it!

Very cute story! Love the last line from Pippin about Merry and Estella's chances of getting married. Too funny!

Author's reply

Thank you, Grey Wonderer, for reading, and for all your reviews. Couldn't help myself in winking at it! I unintentionally lied in my last reply...but still, it will be a while before posting another. Take care...hope to see more of your own wonderful tales soon... Pippinfan

Pervinca · 6 March 2004 · Chapter 8: Pervinca in Demand

Oh, I laughed when I saw the title of this chapter! THREE offers (and a possible forth)! How popular am I? Lol, though I think that perhaps Merry's was an alternative motive so that he could go to Estella's party. Fantastic to see that Merimas was given Paladin's blessing. And also great to see that Pippin's okay (nothing more than I bump to the head). Is that bonding scene between Merry and Pippin in any other of your stories? If not, it'd be nice to see it in one *hint, hint*! Lol, perhaps I should just let you finish this one. *Normal* people only work on one story at a time, not three or four like I tend to do :P

Author's reply

I enjoyed writing that chapter--I felt you deserved all those offers after what those fellas did to your one and only prospect! I think you and Meriams make a nice couple. Pippin's injury was never meant to be more than a bump on the head--I just needed something to get his attention. Many folks fall off their horses and get right back up, but as I had Pippin unhorsed (unponied) by a tree branch, going at a good clip, well...he was bound to see stars for a while. I don't think that I'm "normal" either--but what *is* normal anyway??? There are lots of folks who work on multiple stories, so you're not an odd one. I'm enjoying your Merry/Estella story right now--and you know (wink, wink)it could be that Merry *does* just want to go to her party! :-) Love has to start somewhere! Unfortunately, I only thought of the bonding scene as I wrote this story. I could make it a one-chapeter/one-scene story, but I'd sure like to see your take on it as well--when you have the time! :-P Thanks for reviewing! Pippinfan

Pervinca · 5 March 2004 · Chapter 6: Falling Short

Argh! More drama. As if everyone wasn't feeling guilty enough as it was, no Pippin's gone and knocked himself out. Perhaps it was a ploy for him to get out of his promises (hey, it wouldn't surprise me!). At least Pervinca forgave her father (she's like me - can't hold a grudge ;P). I'll be waiting for more action - and perhaps we could see a hint of Merry/Estella at the party (if he's even invited!).

Grey Wonderer · 5 March 2004 · Chapter 6: Falling Short

Oh, no! Another head injury for Pippin! Somehow, I don't think Merry helped out very much this time and Paladin may be off the mark just a bit on this one. I like Pimpernel's suggestions the most in all of this.

Author's reply

He'll be all right--just a little knock on the noggin. Merry was just being honest with him--like Pimpernel. My character of Pippin is not one to put up and shut up, and at the age of sixteen, he is trying to discern his coarse humor from being frank and honest in his words. In the process, he went a little overboard. I went through something similar around his age (probably older) and I'm *still* learning! Paladin's off the mark a lot, a tad OOC even, but that's how I wrote him for this story (my last for a while). Thanks for reviewing. Pippinfan

Pervinca · 4 March 2004 · Chapter 5: Bridling the Tongue

Aha, the beginnings of affections! Pervinca Brandybuck - has a nice ring to it. Very nice to see how Paladin disposed of Master Boffin. And Merry and Pip trying to convince Degger to escort me... gorgeous! (Almost reminds me of my Pervinca/Sam pairing :P) (Lotho? How awful! Even without Lobelia, it would be vile! But speaking of Lotho, just wait until you get to the later chapters of my Merry/Estella fic ;P)

Author's reply

That Mirto fellow was turning into an unscrupulous lad, so I--er, Paladin was only protecting his Sweet Pea. There's someone for everyone, but alas, Degger's *not* yours...LOL! Keep your sights on your Brandybuck doctor! :-) Oh no, what have you done to poor Pimple?? I got a little sidetracked with this story, but I mean to pick back up where I left off in your Merry/Estella fic! Very nice story from what I've read so far! :-) Thanks Pervinca! Take care. Pippinfan

Grey Wonderer · 3 March 2004 · Chapter 5: Bridling the Tongue

Love it! I am glad Prim misses the old Pippin because I miss him too. Love the match-making that Merry and Pippin are trying out. Seems that they are failing though. LOL

Author's reply

Pip is growing up; he's finding his way into young adulthood. Let's just say...there's someone for *everyone*! Thank you! Pippinfan

Pervinca · 3 March 2004 · Chapter 3: Champions to the Rescue

Yay! You posted it. I just know I am going to love this story. Pippin's over-protectiveness (and Merry's too) was gorgeous! I'm so lucky yo have those two looking out for me! ;) Why do I have the sneaking suspicion that I am going to be set up with Master Merimas Brandybuck? I don't mind - after all, he was one of the possibilites (other than Everard) in my stories! Please continue soon :)

Author's reply

LOL...as we both like Pervinca, I thought you might like it! Hey, be grateful--LOL...I'm pairing you off with a doctor, for pete's sake! Lotho's of marrying age; I'm sure he wouldn't mind waiting a few years for you! Just imagine Lobelia for your mother-in-law! :-O Hehehe! Pippinfan

Grey Wonderer · 2 March 2004 · Chapter 3: Champions to the Rescue

Didn't sound unkind or anything? LOL I think Pippin is going to have a bit of trouble trying to only say nice things. I also think that this three protectors may have scared off the escort. Pervinca may just kill them. Very good so far and I shall look forward to more.

Author's reply

Thanks! Not just difficult for Pippin... :-) Nah, Mirto's got a bit more nerve than that! She may "kill" someone else, though... Thanks for reviewing. Pippinfan
