Fimbrethel · 18 January 2026 · Chapter 19: The Greatest of These

Awwww "Then before them all, Éomer kissed her, and those who were witness to it rejoiced." Quite fair, Faramir and Éowyn did the same one or twice.

Fimbrethel · 18 January 2026 · Chapter 18: So Swift and Excellent a Wit

So I guess it has been a year, so about 9 months since August. "But do you not occasionally indulge in something which is not a hobby?” “Yes,” said Éomer. “I rule a country in my spare time.” heehee. To Éothain and the rest of the Riders' dismay, no doubt. I think I did see some misnaming of characters though. and the rest is pretty good as well, hooray!

Fimbrethel · 18 January 2026 · Chapter 17: Healing

*me trying to figure out if I have read that visit on the way home* "It was a letter which communicated many things and nothing at the same time, and she was glad of it. For a time she had thought that the Rohirric lord would simply cut off all contact with her in an attempt to push her from his mind, but for once in her life she was happy to be wrong." favorite sentences and the rest of that section. "The baby kicked and laughed delightedly, and Éomer did not fail to notice the smile that formed on the lady’s lips as she watched them" she thinking about her future children then? heehee. So from August to spring or August to August to spring has passed? “Twins?” Éomer managed. He looked at Lothíriel, whose face was filled with glee. “Could you not have warned me?” “Why, no, my lord,” she replied. “I am as much surprised as you are.” heehee and cool! “The child you hold was born first,” said Faramir. “We named him Meriadoc. Lothíriel carries Peregrin.” heehee...and Elboron will now hopefully be friends with his siblings as his uncle and namesake was friends with their namesakes. Unfortunately I barely took in the sonnet and the Princess Bride reference(s_ because I am pretty tired and brain dead.

Fimbrethel · 18 January 2026 · Chapter 16: Day of Atonement

hmmmm I hope Aragorn forgives Imrahil at some point soon though. At least before their friendship is neccessary. Wow. And Éomer is gone. Well, come again soon, please!

Fimbrethel · 15 December 2025 · Chapter 15: Awakenings

This chapter was fine, and that kiss definitely tells all!

Fimbrethel · 15 December 2025 · Chapter 14: If Wrath Be Kindled

So Faramir does find out Lothíriel lives before Éomer does. Oh dear, that interaction. Much Ado doesn't really elaborate on this part, does it? (rhetorical question).

Fimbrethel · 15 December 2025 · Chapter 13: Loyalties

*glimpsing the first paragraph* Oh gosh darn it! I completely forgot about the maid! This is a Margaret! Right, I should have remembered they looked similar as well. "Before she answered, Éomer turned his back, his hand upon his brow. “Oh, Lothíriel, what have I done?” he cried in anguish. The conversation behind him stopped suddenly, and he turned once more. “Why did you say nothing of this before?” he asked, though not in anger." Well! I never thought to see dramatic Éomer in words! Throwing his sword in the air and singing is another matter entirely :) I wonder how the maid was actually sick...And what Imrahil will make Éomer do as punishment. Oh, Éomer might cry, I suppose. I wanted Éomer to go that night! But I guess going with Aragorn and Faramir works too.

Fimbrethel · 15 December 2025 · Chapter 12: A Woman Scorned

What! Imrahil does fake her death for real??!! and a Benedick and a Beatrice don't know about it?? I suppose Elphir can be the Benedick challenger, here. “If I am right,” said Lothíriel, “he will be punished enough by this.” Elphir took a step nearer and wrapped his arm about his sister’s shoulders. “You still love him, even after what he said to you?” She hesitated, but nodded. “Yes, brother, I do. I love him, and I fear I always will.” Elphir sighed. “I do not know if Father will allow him to marry you after this.” So it was her idea all along? Fortunately she is right! "So if Éomer King believes that you are dead and comes here. . .what then will you do?” “By then I hope our father’s messengers will have found Lord Nadroth and heard the truth from him.” Lothíriel sighed. “After that, it will depend on my Lord Éomer. Provided our cousin Faramir has not already killed him.” Ah. I guess Faramir is the challenger. Oh boy, the rumor of her death. Worse than grief. Ha! Éomer still loves her! Yes Éowyn!

Fimbrethel · 15 December 2025 · Chapter 11: Confession

Oh! Oh! This chapter is so Much Ado it hurts! So I guess Lothíriel is figuratively dead, and if Faramir challenges Éomer to a duel, he will win. After all, Éowyn said no Rider of the Mark could outmatch her husband. Now I want a scene, even if it is not for this story, where Faramir and Éomer duel. An actual duel, not a spar. I hope Aragorn and Imrahil are to old and experienced for dueling.

AJones · 4 May 2019 · Chapter 19: The Greatest of These

What a great story you have written, wished it had never ended, could not put It down. Loved this love story.

mag · 18 December 2004 · Chapter 1: A Truth Universally Acknowledged

Kudos to you! For both the great story and knowing Jane!

eokat · 30 September 2004 · Chapter 19: The Greatest of These

Simply lovely. I am glad they have both come through this, relatively unscathed. It is nice that they realized each others faults and accepted them them. Looking forward to the next one with baited breath. Eokat.

daw the minstrel · 28 September 2004 · Chapter 19: The Greatest of These

Ah, lovely. I am so glad that these two have decided to simply love one another. I liked the idea of Lothiriel forgiving herself. Sometimes I have remind myself not to speak more harshly to myself than I would to anyone else.

Bodkin · 28 September 2004 · Chapter 19: The Greatest of These

I'm glad to see that they have made it up and are now betrothed. I hope they make it to the wedding without any other disasters. They have both grown up a lot over the last year - and to my mind, stand a much better chance of having a successful marriage. Looking forward to the next chapter.

daw the minstrel · 21 September 2004 · Chapter 18: So Swift and Excellent a Wit

Oh that's promising. I really don't see why these two shouldn't make one another happy if they can. Life is much too short to waste in silly fears.

eokat · 21 September 2004 · Chapter 18: So Swift and Excellent a Wit

Wonderful chapter as usual. I loved the drenching, the mud bath and both riding Fleetfoot. And now Eomer rides to Imrahil, that should be interesting. Looking forward to the next one. Eokat.

daw the minstrel · 12 September 2004 · Chapter 17: Healing

What a wonderful way to let them gradually approach one another again! I really enjoyed reading their letters and I thought what you wrote about them rang true. They became friends again and so the way is cleared for love.

Arwen · 11 September 2004 · Chapter 17: Healing

This was a lovely chapter, beautifully written. I love the letters written between Eomer and Lothiriel. When I initially read of Lothiriel's deception, I was not pleased with this plot device because it was so out of character for her in my mind. More out of character was Imrahil's participation in the deception. But you have brought it full circle revealing Lothiriel to not be a perfect human being despite her training and upbringing as a noble. The one lesson I take from this chapter is that there is always room for forgiveness and the reforging of relationships despite hurts of the past. I don't know if you realize that lesson is within your chapter here. It is a great gift. :) Melyanna, your writing is wonderful and I only wish you could tell me this world of Middle Earth with Eomer, Lothiriel, Eowyn and Faramir was but one step away to walk into. But it is through your writing that a person such as myself can enjoy Middle Earth beyond the movies and the books...especially Eomer and Lothiriel's lives together. For that I thank you! You mentioned in your notes you are writing the last chapters. Does that mean you will conclude this portion of Eomer and Lothiriel's relationship? Will you continue to write more of their lives together? I hope so. I don't want it to end and I am sure your other fans would have the same sentiment... Looking forward to the next chapter. Namarie. Arwen

Bodkin · 11 September 2004 · Chapter 17: Healing

This is a much better basis for a relationship between them really. They have learned to know each other - both when light-hearted and when under pressure. Lothiriel has shown strength and resolution and Eomer has displayed kindness and generosity. Twins! Called after the periannath - it's no wonder Pippin reciprocated with Faramir. I'm sure Merry will have had an Eowyn, too. Can't wait to see how Eomer and Lothiriel resolve their differences!

eokat · 11 September 2004 · Chapter 17: Healing

Wonderful. It was nice to see their love and trust slowly grow. And what a shock for both seeing the twins, I feel that this meeting can only blossom. Loved it as usual, Eokat.

eokat · 26 August 2004 · Chapter 16: Day of Atonement

Well, Eomer has gone and Lothiriel will have to eat humble pie for a while, methinks. They say the course of true love never does run true, and that is so right in this case. Looking forward to the next one. Eokat.

daw the minstrel · 25 August 2004 · Chapter 16: Day of Atonement

Lothiriel did a brave thing in coming forward and confessing her offense publicly like that. But I have to confess I still wanted to slap her during that scene on the roof. She still seems determined to trample not only her own happiness but Eomer's.

Bodkin · 30 July 2004 · Chapter 15: Awakenings

I am so glad Eomer didn't just fall at her feet. Lothiriel has a lot of making up to do here and I am pleased that he told her so, while still making it plain that he loved her. I am happy that Faramir feels that she might have more to her than she has shown so far. It will be interesting to see how she manages to recover from this point. (Imrahil also owes a lot of people over this. Quite out of character for him, I would think to be so undiplomatic and insensitive.) Look forward to the next part.

Author's reply

I think at this point her only way out is to admit that what she did was completely wrong and to accept whatever comes. As for Imrahil... I'll admit, I'm not happy with how he turned out. I've known fathers to do very irrational things when their daughters' virtue is on the line, but if and when I get around to rewriting this, I'll probably do some massive rewriting of his part in the whole plot.

eokat · 30 July 2004 · Chapter 15: Awakenings

I wondered how you would get them to meet up again, and they can only get closer from this. Glad to see Eomer still loves her. Lovely chapter, do not feel unhappy with it. Eokat

Author's reply

Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying the developments.

daw the minstrel · 29 July 2004 · Chapter 15: Awakenings

Well, oddly enough, I feel like progress is being made here. Eomer knows she's alive and that he loves her. She knows he loves her. And now, as Faramir says, she has to figure out how to earn his trust again. Good. That at least has the merit of being real as opposed to all this pretend stuff and mistakes they were mired in.

Author's reply

You know, I felt the same way after writing it. We're out of the realm of lies and back into Lothíriel using her brain in order to get out of the mess she's in.
