This one made me all sniffly (that's a good thing, really). Your characterization of Frodo and Merry, especially, was great and I could hear them in my head. Their reactions were perfect.

Sweeeet story! I do adore snuggling, happy, loving hobbits, and a happy ending!
Grey Wonderer · 19 February 2004 · Chapter 5: The News
Thank goodness! I am very relieved that Paladin is going to be alright. I don't think Adelard should be allowed to bring the news any more though. He seems to have a bit of trouble expressing good news doesn't he?

LOL...that gosh darn Adelard! LOL... I'll work on him! Thank you for reviewing! Pippinfan
Grey Wonderer · 19 February 2004 · Chapter 4: The Messenger
That's no place to leave a chapter! Lucky for you there is another one up after or I might have to resort to wailing and crying! LOL I am going quietly now............

I'm like you--I like a good cliff hanger! Actually, I didn't leave it there on the other site...I just happened to notice it was a very long chapter, and shortened it so I could add the Bilbo-Frodo talk on the severed part that wasn't there before. And don't you ever be quiet! :-) Pippinfan
Pearl Took · 18 February 2004 · Chapter 6: Destination Whitwell
Wonderful! I love the bit about Adelard having his family in his pockets, hehehe!! And the tender understanding of Bilbo when Frodo admits that he is jealous and hurt, even though he didn't want Paladin to die. Wonderful!! Pearl Took

I liked that bit, too--I love that childlike quality they all have. What I did, was cut the last chapter where it was (it wasn't like that *before*) because I wanted to resolve some of feelings he'd been experiencing along with Merry and Pippin while waiting for word on Paladin. Hence, and additional chapter. Thank you, Pearl! Pippinfan

What a lovely story. You filled Bag End full of my favoritest hobbits, and they were all there to comfort and tease and love each other. I'm *so* glad Paladin will be all right! Whew!
Author's reply
LOL...between you and Pearl! You gals are the best. :-) As have replied to Pearl, I couldn't kill off Paladin because he has to chase the riff-raff out of the Shire twenty years later. I like all five hobbits as well; I just don't know 2.5 of their personalities well enough to write more about them. The half-point comes from Frodo; I have given him cameos in other stories, so he's not so much of an enigma to me. Then again, am I getting to know Frodo quite well in your own Shirebound Library! Ya never know... Take care. Pippinfan

And you are posting again in just a few minutes, right? Torment! Wretched, terrible torment!!! Well done! Pearl Took

LOL...! I couldn't kill off Paladin! He has yet to charge with the Hobbit Light Brigade during the Scouring of the Shire. :-) Pippinfan p.s. Hey, little lady, didn't you read this elsewhere???

Nice story! There is a side of Bilbo that I don't think I've seen anywhere else. Can just imagine Bilbo with a young Pippin on his lap. Will be watching for updates, which I hope is soon.
Author's reply
Wow...that is a nice compliment coming from an obvious Bilbo/Frodo fan. More updates are on the way, and I hope to work in a nice chat between Bilbo and Frodo later on... Thanks again. Pippinfan
Pearl Took · 17 February 2004 · Chapter 2: A Story for Pippin
Compassionate Hearts is right! This is a wonderfully touching story. I really like your Bilbo and the way he is comfortable, yet not quite comfortable with the young lad, Pippin. I love him telling Pip about his adventure and Pippin asking if Bilbo likes his Took side. Wonderful! Pearl Took

Pearl, I don't know what to say, except thank you. I would like to say more to the person who has been nothing but an encouragement all along the way--even though I know I still have a long way to go. How close are you to re-posting Cousins? No pressure! :-) I *loved* Mind Games! Take care. Pippinfan
Grey Wonderer · 17 February 2004 · Chapter 2: A Story for Pippin
Something new! Thank you. This is the first fiction that I have come across where Paladin is sick. It took me by surprise as usually it is Frodo or Pippin and in some cases it's Merry. This is a new twist. Look forward to more. Oh and I am happy that Bilbo is in this one as you know I really love Bilbo!
Author's reply
Thank you Grey Wonderer...I like Bilbo, too. I just hardly write about him, as I don't feel I have his character down quite yet. But he appears once or twice in some of my stories. I just often wondered how (my) Pippin would react if tragedy struck with his father, being that I write them so loving and close to each other. Which is one of the many reasons why I love your stories so much; we sort of draw both sides of the coin with them. I'm eagerly awaiting more on Downpour! Take care. Pippinfan
