Marvelous Helen -- and a well-written twist at the end. Oh lady, Faramir is not a man to be jealous. Though he migh like to find his son a bed of his own, occasionally, for a change! ;)

sorry i should have put more. it was beautiful! kinda confused me for a second but when i caught on it touched me.

Author's reply

Thank you, Faramir and Eowyn deserve all the special moments they can get.

ElrondOfImladris · 6 April 2004 · Chapter 1

it had me wondering for a while why it was rated so low lol

eokat · 17 January 2004 · Chapter 1

beautiful moving story, babies bring out the best in us do they not?

paranoidangel · 15 January 2004 · Chapter 1

I had to read this twice to understand exactly what was going on - but that was good because I love those sort of stories!

Author's reply

Happy to oblige Thank you Helen

OH! Squee! I have to tell you, I did one like this for my group! (Not Faramir, but... well, *blush*) - where you thought the one she was caring for was the father, not the son, until you got into the story! HEHEHE... It is a wonderful device and you use it delightfully in this piece! Well done! (and on a side note, as a proud nursing mom myself, I love seeing nursing depicted in fic. One of my PET peeves is when someone tries to write an M-e fic and uses bottles for infants... Grrrr. Anyway, thanks for this treat!) Ariel

Thank you writing this little piece brought back some very happy memories for me. Helen

Sorry I read my review and it sounded quite out of place, I do enjoy how you caught us by surprise but again, A younger person might stumble across it and leave astonished before reading the end. So if my other review sounded like I didn't get the point of the story... I did, I am just worried others won't.

Author's reply

Thank you for taking the time to review. I did wonder at the rating. As you have raised this as a concern I have referred it up the line to Nilmandra and I will take her advice on it. Cheers Helen

Hello! Only one quick suggestion, the story was a cute little vignette but on behalf of those who would see proper ratings, you really should change it to PG at least. There could be some younger people on here who stray across it unkowingly and find themselves reading something their parents would most certainly not approve of. Thank you for a short, amusing little glimpse into the shieldmaiden's new, softer side in life.

I caught on right at the moment the baby began to nurse! Been there and there is nothing more wonderful that totally satisfying another person like that. This was lovely, Shireling.

Author's reply

Yes it made my toes curl at the memory....wonderful. Helen

Beautiful, sensual. You got me with the unexpected switch of Faramir with his son. I had to go back and reread the the beginning with him in mind. Your words still work, even when read with a maternal slant instead of a spousal slant. Nicely done. Very nice indeed! LKK

Author's reply

Thank you I'm glad I got the right balance...I wanted to convey the sensual nature of the encounter rather than the sexual. Helen

Nilmandra · 14 January 2004 · Chapter 1

This is beautiful - the joys of a new baby :D

Author's reply

Yes it's a shame they grow out of that stage so quickly!!! Helen

Perfection. Exquisite. What a gorgeous piece between Faramir and Eowyn. The baby's after-bath toilette. What a great moment with the new family. And then---your description of breast-feeding is beyond words, it is so exact and beautiful. Another great piece of writing by Shireling.

Author's reply

Puxinette Thank you so much. I'm not sure where this story came from, but once it hit me I couldn't leave it!! Breast feeding was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. helen

This is wonderful. As I was reading, I was thinking I would tell you to change the rating, but by the time I finished, I realized what you were doing --amazing. "She looks down into pools of knowledge, sees love and trust in the depths of a soul, so old, so young." Wow. This is absolutely beautiful. I'm so glad I didn't know *exactly* what it was about until it surprised me!

Author's reply

Thank you, I was hoping that the ambiguity would work but the image of the baby was so strong in my head that it was hard to be objective. Helen
