Oh, dear. Poor Elentia, I hope that nothing too bad happens to her. Hurry and write the next chapter, please!

Poor Elentia indeed. But something bad does happen, I'm afraid. Author Reply: Poor Elentia indeed. But something bad does happen, I'm afraid. Author Reply: Sorry about the double reply - my cat just walked across the keyboard! Jay

It strikes me that Elentia might be lucky to be unconscious. Or perhaps not. She needs to learn stuff, I guess. I liked her memories of lessons about being captured by Orcs. It sounded so realistic. Legolas and the others to the rescue, I hope! I am relieved that he's OK.

Poor Elentia. There's worse in store for her. Legolas will 'save' her, but not in the way people will expect. Jay

Very exciting chapter! I would not want to be the one to deliver the news to Thranduil either. It's always interesting to try to figure out what would be good strategy in these situations. I keep thinking that the Elves would be very clever but danged if I can think of good stuff for them to do. I can see your Legolas working out the best plan he can and it seems good to me, although it evidently did not work out too well.

EEEEEEEEKKKKK!!! Poor Legolas, his crafty brave plan backfiring. And his poor horse as well! EEK and double EEK! Please continue! Jules AKA Yunadax

As I was reading this, I was thinking about how much I admired the members of this elven patrol. They seem so capable and very elfy - at home in the forest, very self-disciplined, able to function on their own but committed to supporting one another. And the glimpse of Dol Guldur is interesting too. I have trouble picturing it.

I think the warriors of Lasgalen (I don't think the elves would call their home Mirkwood) have had a long time fighting Dol Guldur, and have their own ways of comabting the shadow, used to working as a team. Thanks for the review - I'm glad you think the patrol are 'elfy' - it's what I try to make them! Jay

WOOHOO Another fic from Jay! YAY! And indeed another fic filled with the angst and action that I live for. What a brilliant New Years gift! Alas please continue.

Author's reply

There will indeed be a great deal of angst in future chapters - when did I ever write anything else? There's plenty of action, too, in the next couple of chapters. Jay

Very interesting opening chapter, Jay. I like your take on the Legolas - Aragorn meeting. For once, they didn't meet as a result of an accident, a fight, a hatred, or any of the other standard fanfiction reasons for the meeting. They simply met. A nice change. If this is a story that you've already posted elsewhere, I must have missed it. So whether it's new or not, it's new to me. I'm looking forward to reading more of it. LKK PS: Loved the "elves are supposed to have a way with animals" teasing!

Author's reply

This story is an amalgamation of two others I posted some time ago, with a new title, and a major rewrite in some places, and will probably lead straight into a third. So it's likely to be rather long! I'm glad you like it though. Poor Legolas didn't have much luck with animals in this chapter, did he? Jay
