I love this. I love the meeting between Legolas and Bregolas. I love how they are now all safe and heading home. I live how you have written all of this and I am excited for the chapters that I have yet to read.

Sweetpea Deepdelver · 13 February 2014 · Chapter 15: Homeward Bound

Is the strange elf Malgnor?! Very pleased with how the story is playing out. Sorry for the misspelling!

endorearwen · 9 July 2013 · Chapter 9999: Epilogue: Valinor

This review is for the entire story rather than just the last chapter. I'm positively stunned at how beautifully you write! The characters are engaging immediately from the first word we read of them! Tathiel in particular is very inspiring. The tenderness and love that permeates the interactions between the characters is excellent. There is a sense of true feeling, genuine caring, between these people who are not blood relatives but who are as devoted as family to each other by choice. The strength of the bond between Tathiel and Legolas mirrored so completely the true bonding of mother and child that all you did with them in the story felt 'real', if I may be permitted to use the word! The detail included about Legolas' personality enchanted me and I instantly fell in love with this little elfling! I must also thank you for having written Thranduil as such a compassionate he-elf towards Tathiel. The gentleness of his approach when he asks her to continue acting as surrogate mother to Legolas was more than heartwarming. This was only one of the moments in the book when I must admit to having shed tears, so connected had I become to the 'reality' of their lives! Thranduil, as you have written him, is a King I could easily discover loyalty towards within myself. I must also compliment you on the plot development of the story. The highs and lows have been written with sufficient frequency to make this reader feel she had also been on an exodus! To bring the reader so often so close to reaching the goal and then cast them on to another series of tormenting delays is difficult to do without making the reader feel discouraged. Yet, you have achieved it so well that your twists and turns served only to strengthen my resolve to 'stick with them' until they finally are found by the elven warriors. I thoroughly enjoyed getting a greater insight into the 'feelings' a warrior might have when on such an endeavour and which provide them with the motivation to soldier on despite the sense of uncertainty that dogs them throughout their journey. I loved the teasing you incorporated into the dialogue between the warriors! It was a perfect way to release the stress of all that must be passed through as the plot continues and provides us with a sense of how close these characters are to one another (something mere mortals cannot share as we do not live for thousands of years in each other's company!) You manage to achieve such tremendous depth of connection with so few words - an art to be sure! I would never have thought the ‘Watcher’ of that long, hard winter to be one of the Maiar! Until the very end, the question of who he was and how he was connected to the characters lingered in my mind. Unexpected as it was for him to be such a being, I cannot imagine how much more perfectly he could otherwise have been explained! As you might have guessed by now, I think you've written an absolutely DELIGHTFUL story, full of emotion that draws its readers in and so consistent with the Middle-Earth that JRR Tolkien created that I was sorry to see the story end! KUDOS to you on a job well done!!

I have read all of Daw's wonderful tales and I noticed that you were her beta so I decided to check your work out and I am certainly glad that I did! I LOVED that large family! Each member played such a unique part in the family unit. I also liked Thranduil...he is one of my favorites. It was so nice to see a story about love and sacrifice. I rejoiced with them when they finally returned home! I am certainly going to go and read more of your work! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

Shlain · 6 April 2009 · Chapter 9999: Epilogue: Valinor

Oh this was such a good story! I can't wait to read the rest. I was so angry and gasped at the ill treatment poor Legolas received from Hazad and his bad seed of a brother. Pitty his youngest died. Would like to have read that he got happily married. I was so glad when you paired Tathiel and Rawien. He is just what "Tafiel" needed. I had tears in my eyes at the family reunion. You are really a talented writer. Good job on keeping us guessing about the watcher. I thought it was Maglor *scoff* Keep it up! Shlain

Josie · 26 July 2007 · Chapter 9999: Epilogue: Valinor

I just wanted to say- that was amazing! I've read several of you other stories, and they are all wonderful. You capture the known characters so well, and your own fit in perfectly. The relationships between the characters, and the voice and personalities of each are perfect. Its obvious from this tale and the others that you've spent a good deal of time around children, and can recreate their free and uninhibited spirits, as well as how they respond to different situations. Well done! Coming from a large family myself, with two younger siblings, I can picture many of the scenes without any trouble! ;-) Good job, and keep writing!

Author's reply

Thanks, Josie, I am glad you enjoyed the story. It will always remain dear to me as the first story I wrote, but also due to the attachments I made to the characters.

My review is late in coming, but I just read your fabulous story! (in book form) =) This was just WONDERFUL! Once I got started I couldn't put it down. Almost all original characters, you know, and they were all priceless! I loved how you wrote the ones you borrowed from Tolkien, too, of course. I loved the trips you took back to Thranduil's halls and the way Lathron's relationship with his father grew and how he could keep tabs on Legolas - that was heart wrenching. You made me struggle along with the 4 lost ones to get them home and keep them safe. I couldn't say what part was better or best. I just loved it all. I'm glad we found out more of who the Watcher was in the end, thank Eru for him! =D Thank you so much for this story. I can't wait to read more of their adventures as Legolas grows!

moonshine · 6 April 2005 · Chapter 9999: Epilogue: Valinor

Wow, what an ending that was. I loved it and even cried myself. Lol! This story is really good. The writing for it was perfect, and the plot was excellent. I like the fact that you have a tiny bit of humor mixed in with all the suspense and drama. It is a very good story, and I can`t wait to read the sequel!

Author's reply

I love it when people laugh and cry at my stories - life is that way, I think, with wonderful moments of laughter and joy even in times of great despair and sorrow. I am glad you liked it, and I hope you enjoy reading more of Legolas as he grows up.

moonshine(ff.n) · 5 April 2005 · Chapter 22: Dreams and Danger

I`m still loving this! Just a quick question before I continue to read. During the winter they stayed in the cave, I remember you writing something about Tathiel and the children teaching Legolas about his family. Wouldn`t it be obvious he learn their names then? It would be hard to explain about someone`s family without saying names, so why wouldn`t Tathiel say them? Just curious, as always. Bye!

Author's reply

He was only an infant then, and at least to them, he had only picked up on the concept of his sisters, so they were surprised at the suddeness of hearing him say Lathron. Its possible he recalled something form his infant time, but the clarity of it was surprising!

moonshine(ff.n) · 2 April 2005 · Chapter 4: Return to Mirkwood

Hey! I`m really enjoying this so far. You have a great plot line and excelent characters. I was somewhat confused with all of the extras and which family was which, but it seems to be coming together. I`m also a little uncertain as to why the shadow seemed to come back almost over night. Anyhow, I can`t wait to read the rest!

Author's reply

Glad you are liking th story so far. There are a lot of OC's (in retrospect, I probably would make less of them now!) but hopefully they will sort themsevles out. As for the shadow, the elves were just as confused! They only knew it happened, but it was a while before they learned why too. Hope you enjoy the rest!

Bodkin · 3 September 2004 · Chapter 9999: Epilogue: Valinor

This was the very first long Lord of the Rings story I read after I discovered the genre back around Christmas. I've read a lot since then. I still love this one, though. So I suppose that makes you responsible for me taking up my pen - or keyboard - and writing my own.

Author's reply

I shouldn't admit it, but Tathiel and Lathron are my two favorite OC's that I've written. I'm glad you still like this story after reading more of what is out there - it was my first attempt and I have to admit I see all the technical aspects of my writing that needed improving! (daw whips me into shape). And if I am responsible, then I count myself forutnate! I like your stories, although I see I am behind - again! But a new chapter of HLII will be up this weekend. Its nearing completion. :-)

Lianna · 5 August 2004 · Chapter 9999: Epilogue: Valinor

It is almost superfluous to add another gushing review to your already overflowing collection, but I had to tell you how much I enjoyed this story. I was especially impressed with Elenath's blessing at the festival -- certainly one of the most touching scenes I have ever read. And the special link between Lathron and Legolas was a wonderful idea. It is truly amazing what you have done with a story that consists almost entirely of OCs (except for Thranduil). I am amazed that I could care so much for people whom I did not know at all before starting your story.

Author's reply

I am so glad you did! That scene with Elenath was a tearjerker to write too. One of the themes of Tolkien I liked is the closeness of elven families and community, and that scene was one way to show that. I am glad you liked that. I am going to have to admit that I fell in love with Lathron while writing him - and I am very glad you came to care for these characters! Thank you for the review - I very much appreciate it.

Duchess · 17 May 2004 · Chapter 9999: Epilogue: Valinor

Oh what a wonderful story and it finally had the happy ending I was looking for. Sheesh you put these characters through a lot and reading this was emotionally exhausting! lol I found myself screaming at the "bad men" along with little Legolas and having a hissy fit to see them all pay dearly for the harm they'd both done and intended against the lost Elves. *relieved sigh* I'm glad they paid, but felt sorry for Tal Elmar (or however you spell his name) that he died too. *pout* I'd like to think he wound up with his wife who died before him and they are happy in whatever version of heaven Men of Arda went to. I also like to envision the hell his evil family members are going through for eternity. *vb~wicked~g* Well written and I loved it dearly. I'm almost afraid to start reading the sequel because I get so caught up in the characters you've created I neglect everything else and I really ought to get SOME work done today. *giggle*

Author's reply

Thanks, Duchess, I am glad you liked it. Little Legolas was endearing and I thought *his* ellyth and Tathiel were wonderfully brave to survive such conditions. I felt bad for Tal-Elmar too, but he was an example of how innocent people can surely be harmed by those around them. Thank you for reviewing!

lwarren · 28 April 2004 · Chapter 9999: Epilogue: Valinor

I read this story about eight months ago (I was brand new to fanfiction) and never reviewed it until I realized it was posted here. I think this was one of the first epic-length stories I ever tried. I remember staying after school a couple of hours extra to read it for the several days it took, and have reread it several more times since then. I love Legles! What a sweetie - his place in the story, and especially after he started talking, are priceless. All of the other characters are great, too. I really liked Lathron, 'tho, and his connection to his baby brother. Wonderful stuff! The ending and reunion with his family, his naneth and Aglos is pretty much perfect...the only way to improve on it would be to make it longer :) . Thank you for such a terrific intro to the extended world of the elves. I've been partaking (er.. can you say "overdosing?") ever since! linda

Author's reply

Linda, it is so kind of you to come back and review this now. I can tell you it thrills me that people like this story enough to re-read it. I love Lathron too. Someone compared him to Faramir once, and I rather agree with that. He is the gentle brother who is a competent soldier, but really would rather not fight. Legolas is fortunate to have him. :-)

Sofia · 18 January 2004 · Chapter 9999: Epilogue: Valinor

WOW! great story! if only i came across it sooner! It was kindo of sad when Tal-Elmar died, i liked him. There were some parts when i wanted to laugh and some when i wanted to cry. Brilliant story, i must say again. Im glad Tathiel and Rawien got married. Rawien is one of my favorite characters in this story.

Author's reply

I admit, I wanted Rawien for myself. I am glad you liked the story - thanks for letting me know!

rgbj · 14 January 2004 · Chapter 9999: Epilogue: Valinor

All right!!! A long awaited reunion. I can hear them now. "That elf just has to drag every kind of creature home. This time it is a dwarf. Will he never learn." I hope not. After all Galadriel suports him in this anyway. But do we trust a Noldo? I do. I looked forward to Legolas meeting Naneth as soon as I realized where you were going with this. But I forgot about Alagos. I hope he forgives me. So Legolas was a copy of Naneth and Alagos was a copy of Adar. That is just too sweet. Legolas doesn't have to cry now he has his Naneth and will get to know her for an eternity. Legolas had many friends, Tathiel for an edwon (I hope I spelled that right) naneth, a truly awe inspiring adar and his siblings but Lathron had always known his heart. I am just a sucker for sibling love. The Maia of Manwe. I hope the prince does get to meet him one day to thank him and swap tales. I think he is fond of Legolas as we all are. Well it is over. Sigh. And yes I will read your other tales as soon as I recover from this one. I have already read Eilian's Begetting Day because I am hopelessly hooked on daw's vision of Legolas Thranduilion's upbringing and she had mentioned that tale once. That led me to 'nudge' and then to your stories. I want to read much, much more so I try to review and let writers know that we are out here and eagerly anticipating where you will take us next. Thank you.

rgbj · 14 January 2004 · Chapter 999: Epilogue: Imladris

I have to laugh. I took so long to read this I forgot the prologue and was startled to start reading about Rawien relating this to Elrond and Glorfindel. I went back and checked the prologue to get up to speed. Age takes away your memory to a disturbing degree. Fate, chance and circumstance rule the way of all lives whether mortal or immortal. I loved the thought of Legolas being a child of the realm belonging to all who rescued him. I am sure with the way of his birth and the circumstances of his rescue all elves in Mirkwood felt a special interest in him. It is so good that the events he had to endure at such a young age did not harden into fear and suspicion but made him more flexible to new people and events than the ordinary silvan elf. So Legolas has fulfilled his destiny and they will await him at home. He just has to fulfill his promise to Aragorn and then he too can go to elvenhome. That actually sent a shiver up my spine when I read it. Something about the elves leaving gets me every time. One more chapter to go and it is over. SOB

rgbj · 13 January 2004 · Chapter 27: Welcome Home

Too, too sweet. I don't usually get all misty eyed over fantasy but I think I did with this. I did manage one tear over Sam in ROTK but that was it. So they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time when it came to the orcs. I think the orcs and Easterlings were the ones to pay for that little cosmic coincidence. Tathiel, the prince and the ellyth are a little uncomfortable around a huge group of guy elves. They have been alone for so long it would be a little overwhelming. Bregolas thinks Legolas is just like their mother. They will have someone to remember her by. Have you seen Dawnlyn's pencil sketches of Legolas? She has a baby picture that is so sweet it could almost put a diabetic into a coma. I can say this because I am insulin resistant and understand what sugar can do to a person's well being. The bond between Legolas and Tathiel would be even stronger than ordinary because she has not had a father to share the bonding with. The prince has taken everything he needs from her. This could be a complication in the future. But we know how well adjusted he turns out so they do work things out. Having the prince rehearse what he will say to adar. Words won't really matter when the king sees his son for the first time but Tathiel shows her devotion to the family by her care. Finally Legolas gets to see what an adar is. His ellyth's ada seems to be a good thing to him. He is still overwhelmed by strangers, he is only courageous to a point and the ada passed the point. But the prince is still a polite elfling and finally warms up to him. What a lovely scene you crafted for the reunion of Legolas and family. Moving, sweet and teary. Just what we need at this point in the story. And yes adars are great to have around. After feeling so unsafe around Hazad and running from orcs he can now feel safe in adas arms and be secure with his family. Leges loves Lafron too and now Lathron can sense only warmth and comfort from Legolas. He can be the bridge if needed to bring Legolas into the family. I am sorry but the possessive prince is not ever going to let Tathiel go completely. He is going to need her for a long time and thank goodness the king realizes this. A warm bath. What a novelty. There will be so many things that a little elfling will have to get used to. And for Tathiel what a nice homecoming. Such sweet interaction between the king and his little prince at dinner. Legolas is going to bring his family so much warmth, love and comfort. If he is like his mother she seemed to be a very warm and loving she elf so he will be for his family too. Well this part of the tale is over so we can leave Legolas to the loving embrace of his extended family. Thank you for all the hard work you put into this. I know I have a few chapters to go but I cannot conceive of how much time you expended on this to have thirty chapters and long ones at that. I didn't want to forget to thank you.

Author's reply

I love dawnlyn's work - her youngest Legolas is what I see when I think of him. I am lgad you liked the story. The epilogues were written before the inital story, much was yanked out, and had I known I would continue the little Legolas chronicles, I am not sure I would have had the last chapter. But, oh well :D There is an elfling to raise, and I hope if you have the time and inclination you'll read the much shorter sequels. Thank you! ~Nilmandra

rgbj · 11 January 2004 · Chapter 26: Bregolas

Bregolas and his company now have first hand knowledge of the evil that has returned. They will have to cede the outer reaches of Mirkwood to the spiders and orcs. He has a really good relationship with his captains. They give him good advice and tease him as well. It must make his lfe a little easier to know they have his back. All these resources being used to bring the lost ones home. Elves never give up when it comes to finding their own. At least they knew they still had hope through Lathron's visions. At the camp they find evidence of men and orcs that have camped together. I could never get a handle on that although it is definitely canon. Despite Balak, Ban and Hazad I would like to think men are better than that. Maybe I'm not as cynical as I think I am. Hazad never accepted responsibility for his actions. How modern of him. He went to his death blaming Tathiel. He never truly got the better of her and that must have galled him so much. The elves never even discuss him or what happened to him. It really is over now. So now we are on a long camping trip so that the younglings can acclimate to communal living. This is especially good for Legolas because he has no frame of reference. He is a very friendly elfling especially when everyone dotes on him so much. Oh dear they have found a prime ambush spot and go back on a battle footing. And get surrounded and everyone has to fight. Tinania can now kill orcs with her bow and arrow. At least she can protect herself but it's said that she has to do this at such a young age. That was a bad battle almost everyone is hurt but they were saved in the nick of time. Not by one group of warriors but by two groups. And Tinania shot the prince. She'll never live that down and neither will he. As far as Bregolas meeting his brother. It was so sweet and not all tears are from grief. I think a wizard told me that once. Oh poor Meren. Shot in the posterior. She isn't going to live this down either. And Tinania will break all her records in archery. That's OK Meren. I get the distinct feeling you can distinguish yourself in battle. With shadow back there will be many battles to fight. What is the first thing Legolas will do when he gets home is meet ada. Lathron has told him ada is waiting for him. You can bet the farm on that one. They can't wait to get him home. Well onward to home and ada and the siblings. This will be such a wonderful homecoming for everyone.

rgbj · 11 January 2004 · Chapter 25: Dorwinia

Oh frabjous joy it is spring and the snows and winds of winter are behind us. I liked the discussion of elflings in the midst of a war party. No tales where the elflings were the reason for the war parties since Elrond and Elros. Nice touch to bring history into this tale. Sardon must feel so close to Legolas because of Alagos. Then Legolas runs out of gas and cuddles with Tathiel and Rawien. He is sure that Rawien is a good elf now. Ellyth are still jumpy and haunted with bad dreams. There Nana has much anger at those who have brought this shadow to them and their dreams. Very powerful about the bond Tathiel has with the ellyth and Legolas. She had gladly given up the ellyth to their mother but the bond makes her ache with it's severing. I would think that the bond could never be wholly severed. She will always be a part of these three elflings lives forever. They have had their fea sustained and strengthend by Tathiel by her giving of her fea. Her fears and worries about relinquishing the prince to the king even though that has been her foremost thought through this whole ordeal. I would be afraid that this would weaken her spirit even more. Rawien is so patient he reminds me of Dobbin in Vanity Fair but he must realize that even patience must have it's reward so he will not let this go on forever. Your description of the four warriors making the elfling carrier was so funny. How long did it take Tathiel, four hours. It will take them days to get their act together and take it on the road. Rawien's horse has a good take on the carrier question. Rawien, Tathiel and Legolas belong to him and only him so there is no call for anyone else to fuss. He can handle this just fine. The discussion of how their clothes were ripped brought out new information. This type of disclosure will continue for awhile until they have shared most of what happened. They don't want to distress their mother but they will never be free of the pain until they share and then put it all behind them. This is a good start. Choosing rings for Rawien and Tathiel. What fun. And the shopping garnered some very interesting news. A wife and child are missing. Just one child? Hazad still up to us old tricks. The ellyth sense the warriors are up to something and are they ever. They will accept men's justice since the perpetrators are men also. Kidnapping is very seriously viewed in Dorwinia so they won't be let off easy. This could spare the ellyth, Tathiel and Legolas from ever having to confront the men again. Although having Legolas say Bad Man in court would soften the heart of the toughest jury. Well they are back and the orcs took care of things nicely. But Tal-Elmar died of his wounds. Only Hazad survived. Tal-Elmar did not deserve to die but misquoting a certain wizard some who die deserve to live and some who live deserve to die, but we are not the ones who judge and decide. I sure wish I could get my LOTR back from my daughter. Then I could quote accurately. This is another hardship on Tathiel to cope with this nice man's death. Anyway it is truly over now. They can to a certain extent put this all behind them. Legolas let Meren hold his most precious wolf. He is such a sweetling. And Galithon is weary of everyone mothering him and trying to heal him. He wants out of there. This is it, they have left the camp, he gets down on one knee and pops the question, she blushes and he gives her the ring and they KISS. It is a home run for Rawien. Legolas has to get in on the act also and learns that Tafiel loves Rawen. How romantic. They will never get rid of Legolas. Tafiel will always be his. This was a good, satisfying chapter. Lots more opening up and resolutions for everyone involved. It was great. I was so excited at all the happenings.

rgbj · 11 January 2004 · Chapter 24: Gifts

Varandil was very good with the ellyth, the prince and Tathiel. He has great bedside manner even if it was a bedroll instead of a bed. He sure drew Legolas right in. But as far as their physical condition. Tathiel would be dead if she weren't an elf. They have so much more stamina. Of course a lot of that was leeched away by supporting and nursing the prince. The ellyth are young and resiliant but Tathiel is very staunch in her goal. Return the prince to his father in good shape and if it kills her then that is the price she will pay. I liked the warm, safe environment but that is not right here so we better get moving. Their mission has changed now. Get their precious cargo home safe and sound and fast. Also Varandil's take on Legolas' dreams was interesting. Children are so accepting. But Legolas accepts these dreams and the subsequent knowledge he gains as normal. I think it is good to normalize their experiences as much as possible. It will keep him focused on family. Riawen likes warm baths better but Legolas doesn't even know what he is talking about. Is he in for a pleasant surprise. Legolas likes his fruit. Too much fruit and he will be back in elfling diapers. He thinks he is to big for that. Not gonna happen he feels indignantly. The turmoil in Tathiel's mind over food, the future and planning. She has to plan for the worst because so far that is what has happened. But she is no longer solely responsible for her little crew. She has let go of the ellyth now let the warriors help and support her and Legolas. Oh how romantic again. He called her nin meleth. Well Legolas can't stand for any of that romantic stuff with ~his Tafiel~. Rawien gets beat up just for that. And doesn't everyone hate to be laughted at. But Tathiel likes hugs from Rawien and best of all you can hug Rawien as hard as you want, he won't break. So now another fun thing to do with Rawien. Maybe having the warrior around won't be so bad after all. Which is a good thing because Rawien has no intention of letting Tathiel go anywhere again except his arms. Lathron is like having an imperfect web cam. He knows they have been rescued and that it was tumultuous. That Legolas is quite the little possessive toddler elfling with 'his ellyth' and 'his Tafiel'. Well let's be truthful what toddler of any race is less than possessive. But oh dear what is this. DANGER WILL ROBINSON DANGER!! Oh sorry wrong story. But anyway Lathron senses danger and ada has learned it is good to listen to what Lathron dreams. And Bregolas knew that a long time ago so we are going to get a rescue party for the rescue party. Can't be too careful after all that has happened up to this point. After all they thought this was all a done deal about a year ago and we are still on the road. Lathron even knows where they approximately are. By the Sea of Rhun. I am so proud to say that I got my map of middle earth (a leftover from the seventies)out and checked where their journey took them. I now know kind of where they are also. I didn't need a vision to tell me either. So nice the king goes to Legolas' room to be and tries to imagine his little elfling home at last. Sigh. AN - I thought you did a good job explaining the process of childbirth and the strengthening of the mother by the father clearly. Most writers don't bother to research enough to get details like this straight. There is a lot of elf rape out there and humanizing of the elves. The writers are human after all (well I hope so) and it must be hard to pull away and try to "think" like an elf. I feel you do a commendable job.

rgbj · 11 January 2004 · Chapter 23: Reunited

Pushed to the end of their endurance. They lost their meat and have no one to buy food from with their money. The are in dire straits aren't they? But the title of the chapter gives hope that there is some good news coming up soon. No elflings have ever saved their own lives and those of the son of a king. That perked them up a little. They will have tales to tell when they get home. Legolas dreaming and his little leaf shaped ear. I read a discussion of which leaf would be used as a template for those ears. The choices got very bizarre and funny. But the upshot of the discussion was that the ear had a tip to it so that they were very different from human ears and probably somewhat pointed. His dream was sad. He has all these things waiting for him at home but he is hungry now and his tummy hurts. He is sad though not cranky and making everyone miserable. What a reasonable little elfling. He still says thank you for the shreds of what they have left. No more food. But now RESCUED!! In the very nick of time. That's always the most exciting. NANA'S here. Ethiwen angry because she sees her children are battle ready. They wouldn't have to be except for those who had stolen them away. Well that was a hard battle but they prevailed without too much loss. Poor horses though And Rawien was so romantic with Tathiel. I am not into romance too much but they both deserve some after all they have been through. I like the horses thoughts. Why don't they just ask me? And agreeing that no one can ride her right now. Bad Man to Rawien. Here we go. Things are going to be very strange for Legolas and maybe even the ellyth. They will have to get used to communal life now or again and that will be a change for them all. A good change for Tathiel who has born the brunt of all this. So Legolas has to get used to Good Elf and learn to trust that they won't hurt him. Too tired to trust right now and then when he wakes up he's not in the mood to be trusting. But his tummy is empty and he has other needs that have to be taken care of right now so he decides that discretion is the better part of valor and gives good elf a try on. So cute the prince trying to match Rawien's footsteps. No wonder elves cherish their elflings. They are just too sweet. Tathiel gets to let go now. Let others be strong and capable and she can just rest after her arduous ordeal. The ellyth have their Nana, Legolas has fruit so he is happy. He even says thank you again. Such a polite elfling. Oh he does get shy in the big middle of all those elves and his ellyth have to rescue him. Too cute. He got nice fresh meat, lembas and fruit. What a feast for them. Now we get the long and painful tale of their journeys. The dagger and what could have been but now ~It Is Over~. Well we get to see them go home through all those orcs but now they have warriors to protect and feed them. This will be much easier on them. What a great heartfelt chapter. We have been longing for them to meet up and now they have and yet we still have a lot to go before they get home to Mirkwood so our tale is not nearly finished yet. Good, I get so caught up I hate to see it end anyway. Although I do want them home and safe.

Just when you think it can't get any worse you end up in a cave with several hundred orcs. Don't you just hate it when that happens? You sure have thought up a lot of gauntlets for them to run. Pushing Legolas into sleep. Those Elves and their mind games. I would have been more than just retching. I would have been hurling big time. In the movie the orcs even smelled bad and I was just looking at them. Tathiel knows now that she could cut their throats to save them from the abuse and torture they would face at the orc's hands. She has had to grow stonger and hard these last eighteen months. Lathron and using his abilities. He needs to learn to use it and guide and direct it also. Lovely foreseeing. That will bring some comfort to adar and hope for gaining their lost ones back safe from their long journey. No humor in this situation but they had to smile. Gallows humor indeed. Poor Leges wet. Well he couldn't help that could he. Oh they are in the snow. Good thing they aren't overly affected by the cold. This was a kind discussion about courage and bravery. Sometimes just doing what we know is right takes so much courage. But it will never be noticed except by ourselves. That is true bravery. I think it is neat that Lathron is teaching Legolas about his family while he sleeps. The prince will have a link with them through Lathron that will help ease his homecoming. So both Earundra and Tinania showed bravery and courage of the rawest kind in saving Tathiel. Poor elflings. When they go home they will be very different after all their experiences. Their innocence will be gone and they will have a far different view of the outside world than any of the peers. Sometimes this is hard for families to understand. Well this was an orcy chapter. Very lively also. I suppose it will only get more lively as they get closer to Mirkwood. The orcs seem to be trying to really take over. They can try their days are numbered.
