• Sharper Than A Serpent's Tooth

"This was a routine he had performed with three children, shuffling in embarrassment to his and his wife's bedside when the rafters creaked in the wind. He just never imagined he'd be playing the same role for a dragon." // Instead of killing Smaug, the black arrow magically de-ages him, saddling Bard—curse his too-soft heart!—with an ill-tempered dragon child. A very AU mash-up of book and film canon.

• The Way to a Dragon's Heart

"For centuries, he could not understand the pang of envy that rose in his gullet whenever he thought of that man, crowned with a star. Only in his age did he realize what his younger self had yearned for was a worthy match, and by then it was too late." // Smaug finally meets his match and, shortly thereafter, his end. Mainly movie-verse, with book elements.
