• Gilraen, the Fair

Even if you are fated to marry, you still have meet somewhere. If you are "fair," is that enough to attract the man you want? Sequel to Planning Ahead Many thanks to my wonderful betas - especially Vilwarin, Adaneth, Haarajot, Lia, Allasante, Lissa, Ragnelle, Willow and DrummerWench - over at the Garden of Ithilien for encouragement after a long dry spell.

• Healing Time

Lissa asked me to write a followup to Fell Memories for her birthday "drabble" - she gets a series of 12 to mirror the other story. The story so far: Aragorn, on his way out of Gondor after the Corsair raid, was captured by Nazgul and casually tortured as he was being brought to Dol Guldur. He did not reveal who he was, even though hard pressed. He escaped in a way that, I hope, was reasonable and not superhuman. He swam Anduin to get away and ended up on the borders of Lorien asking for help.

• Fathers and Sons

What makes a person a father? Estel adjusts to life at Rivendell, as Elrohir remembers Arathorn. Written for a challenge on what happened one year after an event. With many thanks to my excellent betas, Oshun, Adaneth, Jael, Lia and Lucia.

• Circumstantial Heroes

Pippin witnessed Denethor's death, and the repercussions from the events of that night were still present after the return to Minis Tirith. Beregond awaits judgment. Can Aragorn sort out the guilty from the innocent? Written for the "C" prompt in the Alphabet of Middle Earth Challenge, Certain Circumstances in the Citadel. Many thanks to my long suffering beta readers who always thwack me upside the head when I need it: Imhiriel, and also Sulriel, Adaneth, Willow, Nautika, Drummerwench, Jael, Gandalf's Apprentice and the rest of the crew at the Garden of Ithilien. And especially to Agape who kept me from looking illiterate by pointing out some errors after I posted it.

• Yule 2006 Challenge - Gwynnyd's stories

A member of my beta group proposed a "Twleve Days of Tolkien" Challenge, complete with a song to give the prompts. I never could resist that kind of challenge. Some of these are silly, some are serious. Some follow the prompt closely. Some give it a very unusual slant. Thanks to Willow for proposing it! My drabble muse needed a kick start.

• Fell Memories

Though Aragorn left Gondor in the triumph of the Corsair defeat saying he planned to spend his time working against the enemy, he arrived at Lothlorien less than three months later 'on his way to Rivendell' and 'weary'. Would such a short time in the Wild 'weary' the intrepid Ranger, or did something much more drastic occur during the 'perils on the dark confines of Mordor"? Rated adult for violence. A series of twelve drabbles. With many thanks to my beta readers Oshun, Pen 52 and Súlriel.

• The Lap of Time

Deciding to be mortal did not automatically make death achievable for Arwen. Why did she linger when Aragorn lay down his life? With many, many thanks to Súlriel, Gandalf's Apprentice, Oshun, Pen52 and LadyA for beta duties above and beyond, and a nod to Kipling for some of the imagery.

• Lighting Fires

How do you convince a boy to stop skipping school when he doesn't know he's supposed to grow up to be king? Elrohir gets handed the task by a very exasperated Erestor, and learns some things about Estel he didn't expect. For Allie Meril, who wanted something about a student of Arda: in any study, any place, any time. With many thanks to the legion of beta readers who helped me thwap this into shape and caught, hopefully, all my typos and backwards curly quotes: River Girl, Beregond5, Sulriel, Gandalf's Apprentice, Pen52, Oshun, LadyA, Patti Baggins, and anyone else I may have forgotten. • One Equal Temper of Heroic Hearts

Aragorn wrestles with some of the problems that come with age, and some that don't. For Dwimordene, who wanted something 'about the meaning of aging. NOT merely being older — aging.' And thanks to Juno for the quick beta.

• To Labour and to Wait

" ... it seemed to the eyes of Legolas that a white flame flickered on the brows of Aragorn like a shining crown." The Two Towers Aragorn had hidden in the shadows and used other names all his life, and yet he claimed his heritage openly before Éomer that morning on the plains of Rohan. Had something happened during the long watches of the night before?

• Seeking to Please

Aragorn probably returned home to Rivendell at least once between leaving at age twenty and heading home from Gondor when he was forty-nine. What did Arwen see when she looked at him then? I think he was a sweet-talking devil she could never quite pigeonhole. For obsidianj who wanted a drabble about Aragorn as Strider or Thorongil and got me thinking about names. It's a bit longer than a drabble. And thanks to Rivergirl for the beta.

• Yule Mathoms 2005

Juno-Magic and Aranel Took offered a Yule challenge in 2005: a different prompt to write about for each day of December leading up to Christmas as "mathom" presents for everyone. I took up the challenge and wrote something for each suggestion. Some of these twenty-four chapters are silly, some are serious, all were a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy them!

• All In A Day's Work

A Corsair raid must have been a very frightening experience for the villages along the coast. It must have been reassuring to know that their sea-savvy Prince could be counted on to help them. A drabble series featuring a 'piratey Imrahil'. A birthday present for EdorasLass. Many thanks to Tanaqui for the beta, and a passing nod to Kipling for some inspiration.

• Necessity and Desire

The scenes leading up to the Council of Elrond have a lot of unanswered questions. Why didn't Elrond know where Aragorn was during Frodo's feast, or that his sons had returned? Who arranged that very odd head table seating and why? Where was Boromir that he could show up "in the grey morning" just in time? And why did Aragorn bring Narsil to the Council meeting anyway? With many thanks to my long suffering beta readers - Marta, Arandil, RiverOtter and Patti, and to Tanaqui as well. For Starlight - who wanted mysteries solved.

• The Quest for the Perfect FanFic

For anyone who has ever commented on any of my stories, thank you! This is for you. Seven drabbles of quest. I am a very fortunate person in that I have some of the best beta readers in the business commenting on my writing (your mileage may vary on this issue). I came to this fandom as a new and very scared author about a year and half ago, and I know I have improved as a writer ten-fold due to the willingness of people to take time to comment on my work. I want to thank Tanaqui, Marta, Lady Aranel, Cheryl, Amanda, Chathol-Lin, and the many other people who made we welcome, gave me comments and made me feel accepted and at home here.

• Toy Story

Estel was unaware that he was Aragorn when Elrond revealed his lineage to him. What had he expected to do with his life? Who did he think his father was? And who better than his brother to help him understand his changed expectations? Many, many thanks to my long suffering beta readers, Tanaqui, Lady Aranel and Marta, who patiently untangle my messy thoughts, read my many tweaks, offer wonderful suggestions and keep me honest. • Not Without Hope

Hiding a vulnerable princeling from enemy eyes and concealing his identity until he's grown are certainly the stuff of legends. But even if the legend is true, it probably does not tell the whole story. Would Gilraen have preferred to raise Aragorn as his father's son and not hidden his identity? Would Elrond expect Aragorn's mother to come with him to Rivendell, or would he believe it easier to hide the boy from Sauron's eye if she lived elsewhere? That they ended up together in Rivendell, and that Aragorn's identity was successfully concealed, is fact. But how? 2005 MEFA Awards 1st Place (Gap-Filler - Drama)

• A Gift for Pippin

Poor Pippin. Here is is traumatized from being exposed to the Eye of Sauron. Everyone thinks he's been really stupid *again* and no one gives him any sympathy for being tortured by Sauron... except Legolas. Pippin really didn't do so badly, when you get right down to it. With special thanks to Tanaqui, who assured me that I could do this!
