Katzilla, I always enjoy your work, but I see this has come to a halt. Is this because you haven't the time to complete it or are you just tired of the labour involved? I do hope that you come back to it as, like all your work, you manage to get the flavour of Middle Earth (although sometimes too film oriented for my taste)and you stories have more grit than the usual wet romances of Eomer oriented stories. Author Reply: Hello Linda, please excuse my late reply, I only saw it now. Thank you for your kind words about my stories. I guess I am a bit film oriented, even if most of my stories are rather AU. I just like tension-filled, cinematic pieces, which is what I'm trying to write. Actually, there are quite a few more chapters of this over at ff.net. I stopped posting here because I felt that no one really cared for this story (lack of feedback). Taking your review as a sign that maybe, I judged wrongly, I just now posted chapter 7 to see whether anything happens... Kind wishes, Kat

I am really enjoying this story. It is a true joy to red something that fleshes out the characters while staying true to canon. keep the chapters coming! Author Reply: Hi Ainisarie, sorry for the late reply. I just want say "Thank you!" for letting me know that you enjoy my story. I know that these days, that is not something many people do anymore. This is an excellent story! Gap fillers are definitely my favorite--there is so much to explore within Tolkien's works. I really enjoyed Eowyn in this chapter; you demonstrate so much depth to her character between her learned subtlety, her desperation, and the passion she cannot quite hide. Thank you for writing! Author Reply: Hi Noruinivel. thank you for your feedback (and sorry for the late reply - I somehow saw your review only now), it's greatly appreciated! I'm glad you like what I'm doing with the characters. Best wishes, Kat

Great job on this. A nice look into the minds of several of the main drivers of action. Thanks loads for your hard work on this, looking forward to the next installment. Author Reply: Thanks Matt! I must say that I am highly enjoying myself again with that eternal duel between Éowyn and cruel, nasty Gríma... maybe I'm having *too much* fun... ;-)

Hi Katzilla, Coincidently I am reading the Trilogy (for the umpteenth time) trying to wake up my muse. I have just reached this very part so it’s great to read your in-depth version. LBJ. Author Reply: Hi Sidonie, what a coincidence! Isn't strange how we can read scenes again and again, and not pay special attention to them, but suddenly, a plot bunny jumps at you and won't let go? I must say I highly enjoy this, it is a true sequel to "Untold Tales of the Mark"... and it is still disturbing how much fun I'm having writing a cruel Gríma... :-) I hope you are doing well and that another plot bunny is lurking in the grass, just waiting for you...

Awesome job on this chapter and new story. I'm almost certain there are others in this genre but you've given a lot of detail in Eomer's thoughts that I can't remember in other pieces in this area. One wonders why it took so many years for people to start thinking about taking Grima out permanently. Even your piece doesn't get there yet and of course it takes until Eomer realizes his goal is Eowyn before serious discussion of this happens. Thanks loads for your hard work on this, looking forward to future installments. Author Reply: Hi Matt, thanks for your feedback! I'm glad to you enjoyed the first chapter. I got actually quite excited when that idea hit me, as I have not yet seen someone else writing about that battle from the Rohirric point of view. And as it works wonderfully as a prequel for my "Untold Tales of the Mark", I was happy to dig out some of its personnel. I agree, it is strange that Gríma could work against the Mark for so long before someone thought of removing him. They were all like a rabbit before the snake. I think the Rohirrim are a very conservative society, and the word of their king is the law, so they don't question it (especially not the Royal Guard). Next chapter, the action will start and I'm looking forward to that! :-) Cheers, Kat
