Conquistadora!

Just caught up with all 18 chapters. Am enjoying it immensely. Such fun reading about the characters that are in "We were young once." It is like visiting old friends!

Thanks for this!

Things I did not expect today: hobbit grenades. I love it. Hobbit commandos would actually be pretty terrifying, they're very stealthy and small so they're hard to hit even if you actually see/hear them...

Author Reply: True! Thanks for reading. :)

I am LOVING this story! My cousin is working on a large and boring project, so I am making the time fly faster by reading aloud to her. She is transfixed, and we hate to stop each time we must. (Sadly, we still must eat and sleep on occasion.) Thank you so much for extending our enjoyment of some of our favorite characters! We are on pins and needles, looking forward to what comes next!

Author Reply: You're welcome, and thank you! I am determined to finish this story soon, so we'll see how it goes.

Conquistadora!

I love this! So nice to see Thranduil so happy and at peace with himself and those around him. I do have one question though. Have you set aside "We were young once, Book III." It has been quite the undertaking.

I've now read all three books and I am quite hooked. But I won't push...Pleaaaase write more...Damn I said I wouldn't bug ya and there I go!

Stay safe!

Author Reply: Thanks! I promise We Were Young Once isn't abandoned. It just lies fallow for months (years) at a time. I was actually working on an update for it last night, but it's going to be one of those really long chapters so it may be a while yet. ;) Thanks for reading!

Your stories always take my breath away!!!!! I am so happy you wrote another chapter. I promised myself that I will wait with reading this story after I will be able to review all chapters but of course I couldn't resist once again when I saw notification. I am sorry but I have to work online long hours and later I am too tired to write something intelligible. Hopefully my work will end soon and I will reward myself with your story. Stay safe!!! Will you update your other stories?

Author Reply: Thank you! I am trying to work on other updates as often as I have the chance. :)

Really, I love your Thranduil. I thought this story would be Imrahil centered, but it is all about Thranduil and I really love that.

I love to see Imrahil being so admirative of the Elvenking because... Well who is not????

This story shows really well all the different facets of Thranduil. We see him like a child enjoying wholeheartedly his travel south, and then becoming the famously short-tempered and dangerous woodland king when his people are being threatened and killed.

Also, this last chapter was really good. Your description of the battle made me really capture it and I can't wait to see Thranduil's plan to be put into execution. He fears nothing and has complete confidence in his warriors.

I hope to read the next chapters soon.

Thank you!

Haha, the phrase "famous last words" comes to mind...

“The truth will out!” Baldor called from behind, attending their conversation as well he might. “Gondor for the Gondorrim!” O my. It strikes me (rather forcefully, actually) that this sentiment not only would exile the Queen if it were carried out, but it also excludes the Ringbearers to whom Gondor owes its very existence.

I rather shared Imrahil's giddiness at the beginning. What a relief to get out of that awful place they were visiting!

And all the genealogy at the end sounded quite homelike and hobbity to me, LOL!

Adding to my previous review since I have a few moments to spare this morning, and I re-read this chapter before going on to the next.

Beleg was quite correct about the quality of his vintage, Imrahil noted. He was justifiably proud of the enterprise he shared with his brother, Brandir, thriving as it was after the near ruination of his family before the war. He gladly gave them a brief tour of the place. Thranduil, once again, seemed indefatigably interested in the minutia of the business, and asked many questions, which delighted their host.
Beleg is an intriguing character! Is he to be found in any other stories? I must admit, this is the first one of yours I have read.

I recognize the camel and crocodile ("tastes like chicken!") in the meat market.

Imrahil as Elessar's bulldog. I like that.

The characters are well-developed, even in brief appearances, and the descriptions are marvelously real.

Hope this finds you all well.

Oh, gosh, this is so marvelously written. The combination of irony and understatement and undercurrents is a wonder to behold, along with the descriptions that say so much more than (polite) conversation could convey. Pelargir simply jumps from the page in all its color and (frankly, but perhaps neither polite nor prudent to say aloud in that place) squalor. I find myself holding my breath, probably not the best thing to do when so much remains to be read.

Excellent work! Well done. Looking forward to reading more.

'the air of danger'-your way of describing the king is perfect as always!!! I am happy that Gwaelas is still alive!!!
