Changes and Acceptances  by Mirkwoodmaiden 32 Review(s)

This was a long, complicated chapter, with lots of very realistic interaction between some troubled people. Poor Elrond. He mourns the loss of his daughter, so he pushes her away. And I can see how he felt conspired against when his sons and his in-laws shut themselves away to talk about him!

Faramir gave really good advice and it looks as if Aragorn is going to try to take it. If he goes to see Elrond, some tense words are likely to be spoken!

I like boyish Celeborn.

Author Reply: Daw! Thanks again for the thoughtful review. I tried to make the interaction and emotional reactions as real as possible! I do feel sorry for Elrond. He has given so much in the service of Middle Earth only to have what he most treasures taken away and taken away by someone he loves as his own child. It is most bittersweet for him.

With Faramir I tried to stay true to his character, giving, caring, intelligent, but also wary of censure having endured his father's scorn for so long. Also sometimes those who have experienced much pain can relate more easily to another's pain.

I had great fun with Celeborn. I think he quite often gets depicted in fanfic as a wet blanket or humourless and I wanted to show a different side to him. I mean Galadriel certainly sees something in him and I wanted show a little of their relationship. I'll stop rambling now! :-) Glad you thought it was good!

This is shaping up to be interesting. I'm wondering about Arwen's pregnancy and whether it really will run the full Elf year. And Frodo is obviously in distress. I look forward to seeing where you take this.

Author Reply: I just finished this story about a month ago, I'm so glad you like it so far! In answer to your question, I did have to pay close attention to the time spent in the story and by my rough calculations Arwen will carry little Eldarion about 11 1/2 months. I didn't realise that Elves carry their children a full year until I was half way through the story and had to rejig some of the time spent, I think it works out!

Thanks for the review!
