Maseric? Never heard of him before. Is he in the family trees, or an OC? He achieved what he wanted though, he made Frodo very, very angry. Maybe even too angry ;-) Merimac to the rescue! I enjoyed that part a great deal! And he wouldn't be Merimac if he didn't take advantage of the situation! But now Maseric has not only one, but two enemies! Let's see what Mac comes up with! It will be a grand plan, I'm sure! Author Reply: Maseric's an OC - very much the English Marroc, but I didn't want to take him over into the English stories. It's enough to have one Marroc .... and Maseric isn't quite as bad. Frodo is very angry - and so is Mac. No one embarrasses his cousin and gets away unharmed. And he wouldn't be Merimac if he didn't take advantage of the situation! That's so true! I think that little event made his day :)

Merimac has a rather wicked sense of humor, doesn't he? Can't wait to see where this goes! Author Reply: Merimac doesn't only have a very wicked sense of humor. He isn't ashamed of anything - at least I have found nothing in the 14 months I'm now exploring his character. He loves Frodo and is always willing to give advice, but he wouldn't be Merimac if he let a situation like this pass without a teasing comment.

Oh, dear, what has he got himself into now? I just love the relationship you've developed between Frodo and Merimac. Can't wait to see where this goes! Author Reply: I like to see Frodo and Mac together. Frodo, in my stories, is always a little shy and withdrawn and keeps everything private. Merimac is just the right force (due to his directness and openess) to lurk him out of his hole and have him show his fire.

Aww, poor Frodo! I couldn't help but laugh, though, at this line: Had it not been his bare backside that waggled through the darkness he would have thought the situation comical. Hee! And I love how Merimac greets him, and how he deals with Frodo's story about the dragon. I'm looking forward to the next chapter :) Author Reply: Merimac very much enjoyed Frodo's plight - and I'm sure he will tease him for quite a while. I'm glad it gave you a laugh.

I do like Merimac's thinking at the end of this one. An in the background helper is exactly what is needed here. I enjoyed this very much. Author Reply: It is. If Frodo were to strike back alone Maseric would find another way to avenge whatever Frodo will be doing. Besides, it will comfort Frodo a great deal to know that he doesn't have to fight this battle alone. Thanks a lot!
