The Set of the Soul  by Nilmandra 46 Review(s)

That was fun, happy, exciting, scary and horrifying all at the same time. I loved it! I am so glad Lathron and Bregolas showed up. Whewwww, but I'm still at the edge of my seat waiting to see how Lathron and Legolas come out of this. This is a wonderful start. *grin*

Author Reply: Thanks - glad you enjoyed. I loved being in Legolas's head for this chapter - the joy and innocence of childhood is definitely marred now, but that also opens us up for conflict and character development.

Wow! That was really a good chapter, just what I love, I have followed all these stories and I welcome more of them with these characters, if fact I just can't seem to get enough of them. They are written just right.

Author Reply: Thanks, glad you liked it. :D I enjoy writing young Legolas and this big family and circle of people in the Woodland Realm.

Lathron is my hero. Assuming he lives (He lives, right?) Although Legolas was very brave, too - just a little on the young side :-) But I have to admit my favorite moment was when Legolas and NOT Emlin tripped on the root and fell down while trying to run away from the spiders (you know it's always the girl who does that - err, unless it's Frodo.) The transition from the playfulness in the beginning to the suspense and finally the terror was really nicely done. We were right in Legolas's head with him (shouting "no! Don't go in there!") the whole time. I was so relieved when Lathron and Tinania showed up, and then just when I got my breath, Round Two started. And now it looks like Legolas got bitten after all...

Author Reply: LOL, poor Frodo. He sure did seem to fall down a lot in the movie, didn't he?

Legolas's voice came easy for me, so this was fun to write. Next chapter I have to be an adult.. err.. at least in an adult's head. Won't be nearly so much fun.

Wonderful! I forgot how much I missed this little series. Thanks for writing more!

Author Reply: Thanks, Ellie. As soon as I get to writing young Legolas, I realize how much I had missed him too.

Ooooooh! *squeeeee* Absolutely wonderful so far! :-D Thank you!

Author Reply: I wasn't sure if you were still reading much in this fandom. If this dragged you back over for a short while, good :D

I was so glad to read about these characters again. I loved seeing Legolas's perspective on all this. He sees with the eyes of a child, but one who's brave and who tries to protect Emlin, Lathron, and Tinania. Emlin's adoration of him is so charming. She has utter confidence in him.

So now what have you done to Lathron?

Author Reply: Poor heroic Lathron. He and spiders are a bad mix. Thanks again for the title, I think it fits well with the theme of sacrificial love, as well as courage and strenght of character. The set of their souls determines their actions, not the situation.
