The hobbity version is a much better way to celebrate - dear me, how depressing it must have been before just focusing on much you've screwed up. New Year's Eve is my favorite holiday because there is the excitement of a new year coming and all you can do it. I don't do anything to celebrate except in my heart and mind being excited and that is best. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

A very nice story. I'm quite sure the people of Gondor will love this new tradition. I also like the newest carol. But my favourite still is the lighting of the Yule Log. The day is short; the night is long. Against the dark we sing this song-- Let our hearts be filled with light And may the world again grow bright...

Loved the story the first time I read it. Loved the fact that this read through reminds me of one more cold evening fill-up, now where did I leave the grocery list.

"Sam said you were splendid, sir, and well, I-I reckon he's right" A wonderful story. I liked it very much, especially young Till!

I loved this story! Horray for simpler times and the joy of giving. Love Frodo and Bilbo's tradition of dusting the mantle and the interactions between Till and Frodo :) Nsmarie, God bless, Antane :)

Such a lovely celebration! I adored Frodo's rescue of Pippin, lol! (Is that what they call "tit for tat"?) As always, so many little details bring the story to life, like the fact that a feast was managed, that was truly a feast, yet did not deplete the food store in view of the weather emergency. Beregond! How I love to catch a glimpse of him. And Bergil, of course. And somehow I find this AU quite comforting. Author Reply: Wow, I can't believe I never answered these comments! Yes, it certainly is "tit for tat"; Frodo has a habit of rescuing Pippin that goes back to Pip's faunthood, LOL! Well, Beregond is Faramir's Captain, and Bergil is a Guardsman of the Citadel, so it made sense for them to have accompanied their lieges. I also find it comforting--it's quite a happy AU

So delighted to have this as my Yule gift, and joy to you in the coming year! Love the poem, too. May this new year be filled with accomplishment for all of us! (And loved having Frodo included!) Author Reply: Thank you very much, dear! I can't believe I never answered these comments last year. I had a great year--and now a new one coming again! Frodo always makes it better! :)
