Ten Thousand Years Will Not Suffice  by Agape4Gondor 186 Review(s)

I feel bad for denethor - we really don’t see his side even in Tolkiens version and I’m glad to read yours and see a side that makes me pity him and sympathize with him. If a person has no more hope and also saw in palantir that the Enemy has the ring what hope is left ? And Faramir couldve been dead too for all he knew . I really liked your version of Pyre of Denethor .

Isn't writing fanfiction illegal? I think you should stop.

And one name led the rest.

I shan't read the lists of characters. I only rejoice that Faramir survived to properly mourn his father and brother, and all others who died in the final battles against the Dark.

Well done. Now, to FINALLY write my review for the MEFAs. Good luck!

Yes, Boromir would weep at that moment, seeing his father in such a madness of despair. And that he should at the last hope for rescue when he had gone too far....

Alas for the Steward of Gondor! At least there was hope that one would inherit his title and duties, now that Faramir was saved.

That last glance of the Palantir at the coat of mithril, the Elven cloak, and the sword has destroyed his faith. Alas.

The siege is almost upon them, and Faramir will do what he can. Too bad Denethor cannot see that Rohan approaches and find hope in that, but if he could see the Rohirrim, so could the Enemy. Nor can he see the troop that travels under the mountains to Erech and then over the lands to Pelargir. Sometimes not enough information is deadly, it appears. He has too much filtered through the Enemy's malice, and not enough to sustain what little hope has been left to him.

He has already embraced despair! Alas for Denethor--beaten before any victory either way!

So, Gandalf and Pippin have come, and between themselves have managed to both flummox poor Denethor and to, in an odd way, comfort the man as well. Most interesting that Pippin reminds him of Amdir! Now, Pippin will become Faramir's Amdir!

The victory has been won in Rohan, but they will not know this in Gondor until Gandalf arrives with Pippin. At least Faramir defies his father's law, to the good of all!

The Enemy cannot make the Palantiri lie, but can cause misinterpretation, and can somewhat edit what is seen. Thorongil returns, and battles will out elsewhere before they befall Gondor and the White City.
