Phew! wipes brow, thought we were going to have to go through another rather annoyed Ithilden episode there for a moment! Good on ya, kiddies, looking forward to your bonding - (gory details appreciated here, daw) Thanks for this lovely tale - feel sorry for poor Leggy, hope he sees a bit of a light soon.

Author Reply: I married Ithilden and Alfirin off very decorously in "Joinings" and gave no "gory details." How sad! Maybe I need to show a few details of their courting. I'll see what I can fit in.

Legolas is suffering. As a matter of fact, he's far angstier than I usually write. I have plans but he can't recover totally. He has to be ready to go with Turgon at the start of "Prodigal Sons."

Alfirin's mother is very wise. Taking her time to be certain was excellent advice (more people should do that before diving into marriage.) I can see that Ithildin is also wise in be worried about Legolas. The elfling is not nearly as recovered is he pretends, is he? Excellent chapter. :-)

Author Reply: Alfirin's mother is pretty perceptive, and because she has worked with the royal family, she knows what the household is like. She can see what Alfirin would be getting into. But she's less worried about Alfirin running the household than the other aspects of marrying Ithilden.

I think Legolas manages to attain moments of balance, but then he slips off again. He's still doubting himself at the start of "Prodigal Sons" but he's better there than here.

Oh no! I have been waiting all week for this update and now I want more! Poor Legolas I hope he gets some comfort soon. YAY for Ithilden and Alfirin they are in love and now they both know it! YAY!

Author Reply: Legolas does need comfort. I was just telling another reviewer though that I can't cure him entirely because he has to still be doubting himself at the start of "Prodigal Sons." He will get better than what he is now though.

And "Yay" indeed for Ithilden and Alfirin. They've at least declared themselves to one another. Now we'll see if she can make some progress with her doubts.

“I bed you good night.” I'm screaming! A Freudian slip or what? This one little line made me lose my train of thought about the rest of the chapter. I'm so glad she laughed and sort of instantly put everything into perspective instead of running. And Ithilden finally got kissed.

Let me see...the rest of the chapter... The conversation between Alfirin and her mother was nice. I imagine making the decision to become a part of the royal family would be huge one. It would be living in a fish bowl. I don't blame Alfirin for giving this some real serious consideration. But then the rewards...think of those taunt thighs without leggings on.

Poor Legolas. He seems to take one step forward and two back. And nothing like having Galelas around to give him that shove backwards. I have trouble really being angry with him since I know his end. But he sure was a pain as a youngster.

Absolutely delightful chapter, daw. I'm really having trouble writing this review because I'm still laughing. You really caught me off guard. Who said professors are dull? I'm so proud of you! :>) "I'll bed you good night." I'm screaming, I tell you!

Just wonderful. Karen

Author Reply: I'm glad you liked the little slip of the tongue, Karen. These two are both so circumspect that I thought they might need a little help in making their feelings clear to one another. And Alfirin does have feelings! LOL. She's already thinking of the thighs without the leggings, I think.

Legolas is lost in his own anguish at the moment, and can't get any perspective on it. His family is trying to be attentive and help, but from his point of view, they're just making him feel freakish. Poor kid. And the really problematic thing is that I can't cure him entirely, only move him toward it. He has to still be vulnerable when "Prodigal Sons" happens in a month or two.
