Dancing in the Darkness  by Marnie 21 Review(s)
BodkinReviewed Chapter: 1 on 11/23/2004
What a lovely story - I do like to see Elrohir and Elladan being encouraged to look at one of the many other sides of their heritage. After all, they are only (around) 3/32nds Noldor, so why should it dominate their upbringing! The only trouble of such a mixed background is that they need to be experts in so many different fields - still they have plenty of centuries to get to know it all.

"You're not having a mystic moment, are you?" Hah! Celebrian has the teasing cynicism of her father! Celebrian and Celeborn - the ego-deflators of the family.

So Celeborn's mother is Nimwen and his uncle is Denethor and they are the offspring of Denweg, aka Lenwe, king of the Silvan Elves - thus making the twins descendants of Denweg of the Silvan Elves as well as everybody else, yes? (I note that the fish painting comes naturally to them.)

You can tell Celeborn is on a wife-free holiday - he is really enjoying putting cats and pigeons together.

I hoped there would be a chapter 2 - you haven't got them dancing yet!

Author Reply: Thanks, Bodkin! I'm surprised (and delighted) that anyone would read a story about Denweg and Denethor. It was so long, and I was sure no one would like it, so I'm very happy indeed :)

LOL! Yes, Celeborn is making the most of his time away from home, though he's still *slightly* restrained by not wanting to embarrass Elrond too much. I've always liked the idea that Celebrian had inherited more than just her hair from her father. I don't know, but I feel that Elrond probably needs someone to winkle him out of the library every so often and get him to live in the present.

There will be a chapter two - it's very nearly finished, but I need to check it and tweak it a bit first.
