I have enjoyed every minute of this story! You do an amazing job with the hobbits and Elrond was regal throughout with a very nice touch of humor and warmth. Thank you for a great story.

“Yes, Merry.” Pippin exhaled softly, relaxing. Now that the time had come to depart, he felt young and frightened and nervous, and not at all eager to leave. I’m glad we came here, he thought, his gaze taking in the leaves falling from the winter-touched trees and the elegant, time-honored architecture. I will remember our time here as long as I live. And I have Cousin Bilbo’s drawing to remind me, tucked safely in the pages of Frodo’s book. Waiting for us to get back.

You know how dear Pippin is to me, this made me get teary.

Thank you for this fun, exciting and teary tale!! And I eagerly await your next one.

And another of my favourite stories comes to an end. And, like its predecessors, I loved this last chapter. The Yule-festivities fit seamlessly into the book-canon, giving a bit of background to Elrond providing warm clothes and other necessities for the journey for the Hobbits (and those other gifts that were not mentioned in canon but left behind in Bilbo's keeping, except for Sam's cooking gear -- no wonder he was so reluctant to leave it behind in Mordor).

And Elrond's reaction to the dragon tooth was just hilarious. Good that he did not know too much about the circumstances under which it was retrieved.

Cudos for this wonderful story,

fliewatuet (looking forward to something completely different ...)

Sniff! I can't believe one of my favorite stories has come to an end. Will Elrond ever recover? Ai, your faithful reader will journey onward with you!

Thanks for a great story!

I loved that chapter! You did such a splendid job, as usual ;) I liked how you wrote about Pippin having everyone wrapped around his finger! That is how I always kind of picture him, the darling of everyone who meets him yet it doesn't ever really go to his head. I liked thinking about Arwen singing to him, wonderful! I hope they are all able to enjoy their last couple of days! I guess there isn't much left to this story, but you sure have written a lot and it is all worth the read! Are you planning anymore stories? I have enjoyed this little stay in Rivendell, thank you so much! Looking forward to finding out what happens next!

budgielover,

This is magical! I love my dear Pip wrapping everyone around his little finger. I love the vision in the Fairy stone. And Yule. A Yule celebration for the little ones that Elrond and his household have come to love so dearly; even the mischievious ones. This is the perfect way to end my day, which is what I'm doing. And so to bed!!

Thank you!!

You know that you brighten everyone's day when we see one of Budgie's stories with a new chapter - well you certainly make mine more enjoyable anyway - I love the way you portray the hobbits and the relationships between the big folk and intertwine them all so wonderfully. Hope to see more soon.

That Pippin is so clever! Enjoy it while it lasts! LOL I am so glad that Pippin's sight has been restored. I want my very own little stone so that I can have a look at a few things here and there. Very useful indeed. A very interesting chapter.

I wonder what Pippin would see through the fairy-stone if he looked at Gandalf? or Boromir? He could even answer Galadriel in kind, I imagine. It's an interesting concept, but it's not much more than an idle amusement for him. I wonder if it could be made to be useful somehow...

The Yule celebration is nice - one last reminder of home before they have to set out. But either it is a bit premature or their departure is somewhat delayed, as I was under the impression they stasrted walking on December 26 and were 60 miles south of Rivendell as the crow flies by 1 Yule (feel free to tell me it's a story and you can write it anyway you want). I think it was kind of Elrond to want to give them a send-off, as well as to give them as much peaceful time together before they even had to think about what was to come. Not surprised at all that Merry catches on before the rest. I'm hoping a few honored guests will be joining the Yule party before it's over - I am waiting to see if Arwen will be caught under the mistletoe, and by whom.

Interesting to think that Elrond isn't overly enthusiastic about restoring peace and tanquility to his beloved home.
