This was a very neat piece, I had a lot of happy weepy fun reading it:) It is strange and completely common for humor to surface in the oddest places, and with these dears friends, so near to disaster, most of all:) Excellent stuff!

The open honesty you wrote between the two cousins is beautiful and I think, at least, entirely in character. I loved the giggly bits - I've had moments of silliness after great stress like that with those close to me...it's as much a part of the healing process as the weeping. Good dialogue, too. Author Reply: Thank you so much for your kind words! Yes, stress does strange things to people. Nearly twenty years ago my Dad had a heart attack, and I remember sitting with my older sister in the hospital lounge reserved for patient's families. There was a not-very-funny comedian on the TV there, but we were practically choking with laughter, trying to be quiet because it was *a hospital*, with tears of hilarity rolling down our faces. I think our mother thought we'd gone insane.

Just wonderful. I love the image of Merry and Pippin giggling, but trying not to wake the other wounded. An excellent story! Author Reply: Whoa, you are fast on that review button! I wanted to write something a little lighter than what I've been doing lately, and this was my attempt. I felt I was veering more than a little bit off-canon with the humor here, and I was a teeny tad worried about that. Thank you so much for your review!
