An Unexpected Adventure [IN HIATUS]  by KathyG 2 Review(s)

It is difficult to think on those children who were left without parents by the war.

The luncheon sounds delightful, although I'd also pass on the pickled onions. Am allergic to onions, so tend to give them a wide berth for the most part. Something about the enzymes they have in them. I can use dried onion flakes for flavoring, as the drying process tends to denature the enzymes, thank heavens.

A wonderful trip around the upper city.

Author Reply: I'm not fond of pickled onions myself, so I, too, would pass on that. And yes, they've quite enjoyed their chance to eat out and their little sightseeing tour of the upper levels.

And I know what you mean about the children who've been orphaned by the war. K.G.

Author Reply: I'm not crazy about onions myself, though thankfully not allergic. I don't mind the flavor, it's the texture I hate--when I cook with them, I either make them chopped up so fine they vanish, or so large I can pick them out of my own serving.

Orphans are certainly going to be a big problem after a war. DF

"I have heard rumours that The Golden Cockerel is once more open."

when I read that, I couldn't help but think about our present situation, with so many restaurants and businesses either closed or closing. May our own cities recover with as much joy and generosity of spirit as Minas Tirith is undergoing.

Author Reply: Yeah, I know what you mean! Amen to that. K.G.

Author Reply: Did you recognize The Golden Cockerel? It has featured in more than one of my own stories.

I hope that once more we'll be able to eat out again--even when the places are open for service, we are reluctant to do so, and end up with takeout.
