| We seek to protect our children from things we think to be scary, and so often such care isn't needed as much as we would think. | What a perfect way to explain that terrible event ('darning', oh dear!) to a child. I enjoyed this story very much. You have a wonderful way of showing us the differences -- and especially the similarities -- between cultures and people.
