A Holiday Feast  by Larner 2 Review(s)
LindeleaReviewed Chapter: 12 on 12/14/2014
Alas, poor Frodo!

And "Tookland pudding" sounds a lot like what my dad used to do with pan drippings from a roast. Delicious!

Author Reply: Sounds as if your dad was accustomed to Yorkshire pudding, which is the model for Tookland pudding, of course. One pub I've eaten at a few times taking surface roads between Lincoln and York serves excellent lamb with Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, and young peas with a small green salad. Superb meal! I love lamb, unlike Frodo. Heh! I feel with him. We could never eat a chicken we'd known and named, of course.

O Larner, I don't know that I could eat such a fluffy and cuddly animal as a lamb (I've never tried rabbit either), so I sympathize with Frodo here! But the way you write, yes, even lamb sounds tempting! I haven't eaten much today but this story, as always, is making me hungry!

Author Reply: Rabbit is okay, although I find it rather muscular. A former chaplain from college introduced me to lamb one year for Easter dinner. We had a small leg of lamb last week, and hot lamb sandwiches are even better than hot roast beef sandwiches, I find. I use the McKesson or Schilling pork gravy mix for the gravy, and it is good!
