Celeritas' Birthday Bash 2013  by Celeritas 4 Review(s)

That is wonderful! I admit I never thought about what negotiations between Gondor and Dale would have been like!

Kaylee :)

Author Reply: I hadn't either, until I got the prompt.

Thanks!

Oh yes! The famous toys of Dale, and the clocks, and I daresay other marvels of mechanism. I've always imagined them traded to Gondor as well--but I do like this idea of how that trade began!

Author Reply: Thanks! I hadn't really given it thought before, but as soon as Marta gave me the prompt I started thinking about geopolitics in Middle-earth, and that quickly segued right into trade agreements!

Ah! The toys of dale are to be as much a wonder and delight in Gondor as in the Shire, apparently. And wonderful to think that one day Boromir and Faramir will play with toys that are available in good part due to the intervention of a certain Hobbit.

Author Reply: Well, if your entire industry is built on exports, you'd want to sell them everywhere you could, right? And I think a lot of children owe their childhood toys to Bilbo.

I like this scene very much. I was just thinking about Dale's 'magical toys' the other day!

Author Reply: Thanks! I always thought the toys of Dale were a delightful extra bit of flavor to Middle-earth.
