Murder Most Foul  by Larner 6 Review(s)

Hmm, I think you are a little unfair to Denethor. There is no indication that Denethor wasn't a fair and conscientious ruler. I love the idea of the bogus "Book of Shadows." The Necronomicon of MiddleEarth! I recall that Tolkien started writing a sequel to the LOTR that was about cults of evil-worshippers, but he quickly abandoned it. Your story is fascinating!

Author Reply: Oh, you'll find I was nowhere as unfair to Denethor as it might now appear, once you reach the end of the story. I'd love to see some of the early drafts for what Tolkien was working on. It could be fascinating to see where he was seeing the story taken next.

Oh.......I was hesitant to read this at first...the original crime having taken place far too close to home. But finally I decided to take the plunge...and now I don't want to come out! Gotta see what happens next....

Who would have thought to set it in Middle Earth? A daring venture...but I'm hooked!

Author Reply: I hope that setting it as I did within Middle Earth helps you appreciate it better without causing too much grief or pain. And I'll be glad to see how you respond to it. Thanks so, Armariel!

I'm afraid I only read the first couple of paragraphs from the previous chapter. The rest was a bit too gruesome for me. This, however, is starting to hold my interest. It is good that Aragorn is now in charge. Being who he is, the three lads stand a good chance of being aquitted. Aragorn will investigate this matter himself rather than rely on what others think.

Author Reply: I know--that's why that chapter in particular is flagged. Although it will be necessary for Aragorn to send someone else to do the actual investigation, but it WILL be someone who will be be both competent and whose judgment he will trust. Thanks so, Tark.

Good story! The poor mother! Update soon please!
God Bless!

Author Reply: Plus you'll get to see lots of Berevrion and Faradir in this one, Szepilona--plenty of Northern Dúnedain action in this one! And, yes, the poor mother--in more ways than one, you'll learn!

I'm interested to see where you take this story. I've read your fiction on and off for many years, some back East and now here and although i think your ideas of Aragorn's reign are overromanticized I do like your characters and plots. this one seems particularly filled with possibility and I do appreciate your work.
thanks in advance for the next chapter of this story.

Author Reply: Thanks, Matt. I suspect it's fairly easy to romanticize Aragorn's reign, considering he's about the epitome of courtly nobility and ended up marrying the epitome of maidenly restraint in the person of Arwen. At least I do attempt to give her some gumption and initiative.

Most of this story is done. I'm finishing up chapter 23 now, and I hope there will only be one chapter, perhaps a very brief epilogue, and the author's notes to post after this one. I'll be posting it here I hope a chapter a day, so you'll have plenty of chance to keep up on it.

And it is based on reality, although the reality is a good deal more frustrating than even Berevrion faces in this story. Eighteen years after Steve, Christopher, and Michael died there are still serious questions as to who truly killed them and a good deal of international censure for the law enforcement and legal personnel who have dealt with the case to date. And three men have spent all of their young adult years in prison for a crime that never happened as it has been represented in court.

More please! I am waiting on the edge of my seat. Hugs The Imp

Author Reply: I'll be posting it a chapter a day, so there will be plenty more to read and fairly soon, I promise! And there are a good deal of people all over the world right now impatiently awaiting December 5, 2011, hoping that it will finally mark a change in court attitudes.
