The Green Knight  by Le Rouret 5 Review(s)

Le Rouret,

I've had your story downloaded (and been downloading updated chapters as they appear) for a quite a while now, but hadn't had the opportunity to read your story until just recently. To say that I thought it was "good" would be a gross understatement...I was absolutely riveted to the story and could scarcely tear myself away from it!! I have found this to be one of the most unusual, unique LotR fanfic story that I've ever come across and have been e-mailing people madly and practically demanding that they read your story, because it is so unique, original, and so well written.

Being an "Ivanhoe" fan, your general flavor of "Ivanhoe" encompassing the story was what originally drew me to it, but this is not LotR characters surplanted in the "Ivanhoe" plot...and I've been sure to tell everyone I've encouraged to read your story, not to think that. You've kept true to the Tolkien world while giving our beloved characters (Legolas, in particular, bless you!)a wonderful milieu in which to operate.

In particular, you've had some absolutely delightful scenes dealing with Legolas...several with him and his hobbit esquire have been very sweet, and the forest scene with Legolas running naked through the trees....well, needless-to-say, it left me "breathless"!! (While I know this story is "G"-rated, still, this was a lovely, evocative scene and you're leaving so much to the imagination was a nice, subtly erotic touch...whether you meant it to be or not!

Anyway, I'm so very glad I finally sat down and started reading this story, because I truly think it is one of the very best I've ever read. I'm anxiously awaiting the next chapter and I sincerely hope this will not be your only LotR story (and I hope the next one features Legolas, too!!).

Just a quick note to let you know that I haven't died, I'm still reading, I just about squealed with pleasure at Legolas getting slammed, and I have no time for the comments I would like to be leaving. Must run...keep up the fantastic work!

Dear Le Rouret!

Nice chapter again! I am trying to guess who is the traitor but it is not so easy. As you say in German - my mother language - you have to think about three corners.

And where is Aragorn?

And you are right, the speech of Bandy is more like the Hobbits in The Little Hobbit than in the Lord Of The Rings. Unfortunately I made the "mistake" to read the Lord Of The Rings before The Litte Hobbit. And therefore - in my opinion - this tale was lost for me.

And I am wondering whether Thranduil will enter the scene?!

Hope to read you soon again.

Have a nice week.

Whew, I'm glad to see him on the road to recovery so quickly. Again, the whole cast performed wonderfully, but I feel for poor Arwen who doubtless got the full force of the ordeal on her hand so Legolas wouldn't have to crush Bandy's.

How like him to think of just going on with business as usual the next day. I hope he gets a long night's sleep to start a decent healing process. Let an Elf alone for a while and he can do some amazing things. And of course having them all doze off there at the end was just adorable. :)

Oh, this is so sweet! Not the injuries, of course, but Bandobras' "help" was so darling -- and Legolas was so controlled, not to injure him when Gimli pulled out those shards. And such a perfect reaction: Legolas gripping Arwen's hands so hard he leaves bruises, but otherwise doesn't cry out or shift at all. Wonderful! And of course the ending, with everyone falling asleep together in front of the fire is lovely.

I'm rather doubtful that Gimli would really let Legolas joust with injuries like that, but I guess Elven healing has its advantages. Anyway, a wonderful chapter (with more gratuitous food description -- I've eaten dinner and I'm a vegetarian, but I'm still salivating). And a speedy update too! Thank you!
