The Green Grave  by Ellynn 11 Review(s)
kamReviewed Chapter: Prologue on 7/21/2012
This was high loveliness. It wrought tears, as much for beauty as for sorrow.
I'm sure Professor Tolkien himself would have been impressed with this exquisitely melancholic addition to his creation.

Author Reply: Oh, thank you so much for your praise! *blushes* Your words mean so much to me. :)

Dear Ellynn: This was beautifully descriptive, and answers a most pertinent question: who *did* make Arwen's grave? A poignant story, full of loss, but well worth reading. Thanks for writing and posting it. Sincerely, Darkover

Author Reply: And thank *you* for reading and reviewing. Thanks so much for your praise.

Oh Ellynn, this was absolutely beautiful! And sad. So sad... You brought me to tears. It is a wonderful idea that the mallorn were the last companions of Arwen Undómiel, that they built her green grave upon Cerin Amroth.

Author Reply: I am glad that this story causes strong emotions. I enjoyed writing this and I also felt sad for her. :(
Thank you so much for your review! :)

So sad and so Beautiful. Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful.

**Our leaves rustle and flutter, the whispers are spreading. We know what we must do.*** This sentence alone just gives me the shivers. What a very vivid description. What a fantastic scene.

You did a great job capturing the essence of an empty Lothlorien.

Wonderful piece.

Author Reply: Thank you so much, I am so happy if the readers think that I managed to describe Lothlorien's atmosphere.
One more time - thank you for your kind words.

What a wonderful interpretation of how Arwen gets buried. That the trees themselves would mourn for a granddaughter of their former custodian is a viewpoint that has not been expressed before, and one that holds great legitimacy. I really liked this.

Author Reply: I believe the trees would mourn for any elf, because they share special bonds; and yes, their sadness for Arwen is really great.
Thank you for reading and reviewing, I am glad you like this. :)

So lovely! You had me teary-eyed right away. Of course, the trees had always been there, and always would be. That we as mortals do not hear and understand them now as the elves did, does not mean they now have nothing to say. I like the way in which the grave is prepared, gently and naturally. No Ents with human-like abilities to dig and delve, just the roots and earth gently making room for her. And who knows? Perhaps in some hidden forest, in some corner of what we now call Europe, descendants of those trees may still stand. Realms of Men rise and fall, but the blood of the peoples of the lost realms still lives in their scattered descendants. I am sure it is the same with natures creatures!

Author Reply: Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I am sure that the trees sympathize with Arwen, and I believe they would do anything in their power to help her.
Thanks for your review!

Quietly singing a last goodbye, we raise a mound and strengthen it so that it will last forever.

What an utterly beautiful, sad, and lovely tale. I'm certain this is exactly the way it happened.

Author Reply: Awww, thank you. I am glad you like this. :)
