O poor Merry! I do love how you handled this sestina, Dreamflower! Very evocative, and I could just see it!

Author Reply: Thank you! Sestinas are a difficult form, but very rewarding!

Very well done!

Merry had a hard time when all his hobbit friends were gone and he did not even know if they still lived!

But this time also made him wiser.

Author Reply: Yes, he was a much wiser young hobbit by the time it all ended, and far stronger than he had been before.

This is beautiful, and feels very 'Tolkien-y' to me.

Shall I have all my bitter days to mourn?
Return alone of all my kin? I'm not so brave.

Poor Merry, arriving in Cormallen to find the other three hobbits so badly injured. Those days of waiting must have been unbearable.

Author Reply: I know! It's such an awful time for him, he must really have had to try and draw upon all of his courage to get through it!

That's a very interesting format, and the key words are well chosen!

Author Reply: Sestinas are not as easy as rhymes, but they are a challenge to work with!

These are all most enjoyable. I especially liked Merry ad Pippin determined to join the quest.

Author Reply: Thank you! I had been toying with the Merry-Pippin AU for a while...
