Ah, the bravest and boldest of them all! Sounds like a perfect description of our own intrepid hobbits, so I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, even however many generations later!!

I can see why Mirime would be attracted to Tuk!

Kaylee

Author Reply: No it doesn't fall far at all from the tree-- ESPECIALLY in Middle-earth, where it seems heredity is remarkably consistent over the generations!

Of course, not even a Maia could pull the veil over the eyes of a Took!

Author Reply: No, not really, I think, or not for long, anyway...

I always like it when she speaks of Tuk. You can feel the love in her words.

Author Reply: Thank you! I want it to be clear how dearly she loved him, and how he truly has her heart still, even now.

Tūk was the boldest of them all.

The fount of all Tookishness indeed! And undoubtedly the first Took who ever had an adventure!

I wished this chapter would not have ended after 300 words, though ;-)

Sounds like Tuk was quite the adventurer, going into the Greenwood! No wonder Mirime took notice of him.

Author Reply: Yep-- he's the fount of all Tookishness! How could he help but charm her!

Ah, now Adamanta's story is beginning to get interesting! While Bilbo and Frodo may know that bit about the beginning of their race, the part about Tūk ought to be fascinating. I really look forward to learn how these two got together and how she told him about her true identity!

Author Reply: Yes, I know how things need to go, it's getting them into 300 word chunks that are more or less self-contained that takes time...

Ah, mushrooms were a favourite from the dawn of time then? Very apt!

Author Reply: Absolutely! *grin* Hobbits have always had a passion for mushrooms "exceeding even the greediest likings of the Big Folks"!

How wonderful a description of the Fallohides, although I understand that Tolkien commented that of the four Travellers Pippin was the fairest haired.

But to know that Frodo strongly resembles the original Tuk is delightful!

Author Reply: This is very far back in time, and the bloodlines of the Fallohides are not yet scattered among the other clans, and hair color is less varied within the clans. Pippin's description of being almost golden-haired is only in the unpublished epilogue-- which is years later. Perhaps his hair got lighter over the decades...
