My absolute favorite character of this whole story is your Durlin! If the original Denethor had a friend like him in his corner, perhaps he would have had a bit more hope of battling the darkness which claimed him in the book. The man quietly goes about trying to nurture Denethor, Faramir, Pippin, Imrahil, Gandalf, any one that he can! He reminds me of one bright spot in P.J.'s otherwise rather overdone (in my opinion!) Hobbit movies. As the Dwarves make camp near the spot where Bilbo will run afoul of the trolls, Gandalf comments that even though Saruman believes that only great power will defeat the Darkness, he himself has found that everyday good deeds of ordinary people also have power.

Aha! The return of the prodigal! So wonderful to find this!

Love to see the changes to the original allowing Boromir to return to the city he loves so.

(And LOVED The Elephant Thief!)

I am absolutely thrilled to see a new chapter to this story! Your writing is so authentic with deep, rich characterization. The story remains very true to the spirit of the books, seemlessly weaving a very believable alternative history if Boromir had survived, and I am greatly enjoying it. I hope that the inspiration which led to this latest chapter continues!
