Jay's Drabblets II  by Jay of Lasgalen 7 Review(s)
elliskaReviewed Chapter: 9 on 2/2/2009
Wow! This is a scary thought, and one I never contemplated, but that is a very likely scenario in Mirkwood. How depressing that would be. Powerful.

Author Reply: I think life in Lasgalen would be very grim when the power of Dol Guldur was at its height :(

A chilling vision of the effects of Sauron's influence on the forest and those who subsist on the forest's fruits.

Author Reply: Legolas himself describes Mirkwood as an evil place, and I wanted think what form that evil might have taken. Thanks for the review!

A horrible, but all too likely, outcome had the Ring gone back to Its master. Well done, if shivery to think on!

Author Reply: This isn't meant to be AU - it's set before LOTR, when Sauron and the Nazgul were in Dol Guldur in southern Mirkwood.

Horrible, envisioning the creeping corruption. Meat for the pot would have been scarce as well, scrawny black squirrels with a nasty taste being the most prevalent form of animal life, if I'm remembering right. (I wonder what they'd eat? Surely acorns and nuts would also be affected.)

Author Reply: Hmm, I didn't think about the squirrels - but their food source would be affected too. The elves would have had to dig deep into their stores from more plentiful harvests to survive.

Phew! When you say dark - you mean dark.

Well written as I am still feeling the after effects of the chills from the poisoned mushrooms!

*shudders*

Author Reply: Dark ... yes. Sorry :(

When I tried to think just how bad things might have been in Lasgalen, I even surprised myself.

very bleak and dark. you weren't kidding about depressing.

Author Reply: Sorry ... :(

This must have been one of the darkest times for the elves of Lasgalen.

Ewwww! Jay! That was very descriptive writing and I sure would not want to try one of those toadstools LOL!, however a part of me feels sad for the elves to have their wonderful green forest invaded by this evil. Hugs The Imp

Author Reply: Thranduil must have been in utter despair at the darkening of his realm and the plight of his people :(
