Of the Giving of Gifts  by Lily Dragonquill 4 Review(s)

Of all the lessons associated with the holidays that parents can teach, this is the best and most important of all. And Frodo was ALWAYS a good learner!

Author Reply: Indeed, Frodo was a good learner and Primula would have been very proud of him had she been there.

Thanks!

I like this story of Frodo growing and learning the real meaning of 'giving' and the happiness that comes with it.

Author Reply: Thanks a lot!

A lovely story - esp. loved the Frodo and Merry ending and the joy and love there. Frodo's greatest gift to all Middle-earth would come some thirty years later and he received some gifts in return, didn't he? Sam's love, the trip West... Happy Yule!

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Merry is like a brother to Frodo. As for Frodo's gift for Middle-earth I'm not quite sure if he really realised what he was giving.

Thanks a lot, Antane!

It’s all about seeing the happiness in the faces of those you give a present to.”

“But I didn’t get to see them,” Frodo pointed out.

*Grins* Now, that's a good point!

Frodo was too young to understand it fully, but eleven years later he still remembered what his mother had told him.
I can very well imagine the joy he felt when he received Merry's straw star.

And since I don't know if there is an appropriate English expression:

Einen guten Rutsch ins Neue Jahr :)

Author Reply: Our Frodo is a clever little boy :)

Dir auch einen guten Rutsch - und ich verspreche, es wird wieder mehr von den Schicksalsjahren geben in 2008... auch wenn meine Schreibzeit noch rarer werden und die Musen noch weiter wegziehen werden :p
