Finduilas,who else?
Lynda

Author Reply: I personally thought it was a portrait of Finduilas. Perhaps by an artist who kept it for himself, but fell upon hard times and had to sell it. Or perhaps it was of the boys - though why anyone would... what on earth am I saying??? I'd commission a portrait of THOSE two - wouldn't you???

Thanks for reading!

Perhaps Ecthelion, or Finduilas, or one of his sisters, or even his mother! I don't mind not knowing, either.

Author Reply: Hi, Larner.

Ah - I had not thought of Ecthelion - but I like that idea. I love giving my readers a chance to put their own thoughts into this. I don't usually do that... but who was not as important as the thought of doing it.

As for Denethor - hmmm - I wonder who he would want...

I would have it be their mother and he was looking for an artist whom the subjects of his portraits would show he would have know their mother.

Beautiful . . . and I like that you left it open, even though that usually drives me nuts.

Author Reply: I felt the little piece of paper he carried was an old portrait that he wanted to have redone in a large format. Perhaps 11x14. LOL

And I definitely think it would be there mother, but who knows... and I know what you mean about an ambiguous ending driving one nuts - but I think this one isn't quite the same.

Glad you enjoyed it enough to respond! Thank you.
