Might Have Beens  by Larner 8 Review(s)
Queen GaladrielReviewed Chapter: 5 on 3/26/2009
“Here,”
he said as he picked up a now-visible object and examined it.  “You’re a tricksy one, aren’t you, my Precious?  But look--you have a finger now, all your
own for when I can’t wear you.”

He smiled as he dropped Ring and finger into the bag....

*shuddering and hiding my face* Eeeeewwwww!!! Okay, that is very disturbing and completely disgusting...oh my gosh how horrible. That would be the side of Gollum that I really can't stand...

So why do I pity him even so...even if he were to do that? I guess because this shows just the animal he has become, willing to eat anything that crosses his path without compassion...and yet, he's so lonely, his Precious, as he perceives it, his only friend. *shivers*

Not exactly what I wanted to read at night, haha! But that you can write this, and show the repulsive and the extremely sad both together in so few words, says a lot...a lot about your talent as an author. Wow.

Author Reply: I am truly honored, my Lady. Thank you so!

Nassssty AU, my preciousss, very nasssty indeed! Poor Bilbo eaten and the Ring back in Gollum’s hands – it doesn’t bear thinking about!

Author Reply: Oh, I agree! Glad you read it! Thanks!

Oooh! *shivers* You do the understated gruesome very well! Just left Mum in Respite for two weeks. Lovely place and very caring staff so why do I feel as though I have just left a wimpering puppy alone in a dark corner?

Author Reply: "Understated gruesome"--yes, just the reality of it!

I saw a former client who has been forced to remain in a nursing home for two and a half years now, and she wants so to return to her own home. I wept as I had to leave her there. So, I can empathize. At least your mother will be coming home again, and soon. God bless all of you!

Oh, ick, ick and more ick. So glad this might have been certainly wasn't! Also an embarrassingly belated but heartfelt hantanyel for nominating I Can't for a MEFA, my dear Larner! What an honor and from someone I admire so much already! *hug*

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I agree, Antane! Definitely one we're glad didn't happen!

Ouch! Interesting, but a little... what should I say... disturbing. I wonder, though, what the consequences would have been.

Author Reply: Yes, a most disturbing thought here! And the consequences perhaps don't bear considering! (Shivering!)

Disturbing and creepy all at the same time. Yet I like it, still, because of your ability to write of a "what if" in only a few words.

"Might have beens" certainly is a good title.

Author Reply: Thanks so much, Calenlass. At least this one of my "Might Have Beens" was short!

*brrr...*shudder*

Very creepy! I explored the same thing myself a few years ago, in a "5 Things" drabble. It's a scenario that could, oh so easily, happen.

Author Reply: Yes, creepy indeed, Dreamflower.

I'm going to have to look at that 5 things drabble, if I can find it. I think I read it, but I can't remember them all! Heh!

This was very chilling and unexpected!Thank Goodness it never happened, a great what if?

Author Reply: Oh, I do agree, Linda! Thank goodness indeed! And am glad you enjoyed it, as chilling as it might be! Thanks for the feedback.
