| I've always loved Radagast's character - probably because he is in tune with Nature and wild animals. I've often felt that his task was to help heal the damage done by Sauron, and this was a wonderful moment - one I'd love to see you expand on some day *hint, hint* Author Reply: That's the same thing I've often thought about him--Yavanna *had* to have had a special reason for choosing him--and I don't think he was a "failure" in the sense that the blue wizards or Saruman were. Jodancingtree has already expanded wonderfully on Radagast's character--have you ever read "Following the Other Wizard"? | |

| This is a wonderful baton-passing moment. I wish Tolkien had put in more about Radagast...I love his character! Author Reply: I've always been fond of him as well. I would have liked to know more of him--I am sure Yavanna chose him for a reason! | |

| Gandalf inclined his head. “You are not coming home with me,” he said sadly. “Your work is finished, old friend. Mine has just begun.” Wow...I had not thought of that sort of exchange bewtween Gandalf and Radagast. These drabbles of yours are bringing out all kinds of deep thinking for me, lol. Another excellent tale. PF Author Reply: I could just imagine Gandalf, going to find Radagast after all was over, and realizing that his friend still had much left to do. | Now, there is an invitation for more stories if I have ever heard one! *g* This rings so true to Tolkien. Radagast's true purpose is revealed. Author Reply: I just always thought there *had* to have been some reason that Yavanna chose Radagast, and I think she had a slightly different agenda than the other Valar concerning Middle-earth. Manwe might have thought he failed his mission, but I don't think *she* did. | |

| Ah. Sweet. Does canon say what happened to Radagast? I know jodancingtree had him staying in Middle Earth and healing. Chicken pox are popping out all over on the youngest. *sigh* Author Reply: Not that I know of. I loved "Following the Other Wizard". Poor baby! Give her some hugs from me. | I hope he made it home in the end. When he was ready. But he's right, really. He has a different agenda - not Gandalf's, but something more ... healing. And ultimately just as valuable. Author Reply: I am sure that he did. But his own battle with Sauron is of rather a different sort, I think. Yavanna had her own agenda, I'm sure, when she chose him--and ultimately, perhaps, even more valuable. | |
