An Alphabet for Middle-earth  by Dreamflower 8 Review(s)

Proud indeed Frodo would have been and somehow maybe he knew all about it or learned of it when his brother came to him. Lovely story of life going joyously on. More moving because it's Merry-lad.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I think Sam would indeed have filled him in thoroughly on all the goings on in the Shire, and the intertwinings of the Tooks and the Brandybucks with the Gamgees, LOL!

And, you know, I really did not expect it to be Merry-lad--but he certainly knew his own mind!

What a very Pippish final comment!

I'm glad Merry got to preside at the wedding of one of his offspring! And I'm equally glad to see the star of the Gamgees continuing to rise. Considering Sam's vast number of children, he is likely to be closely connected to all the gentlehobbitly Shire families by the time he takes ship.

How quickly the years pass.

Author Reply: *giggle* It was Pippish, wasn't it?

I predict that you are quite probably correct!

That was so sweet!!! I got misty-eyed when Merry gave away his baby in marriage. Like you, I imagine certain children of Pippin and Merry married one another, but I like how you go a step further and bring Sam's children into the lovely mix. Then again, Sam and his Rosie kept Bag End well stocked with children - I'd wager just about every family in the Shire got a little bit of Gamgee blood in them after another generation passed. :-P

I adored this wonderful peek into Merry's family!

PF

Author Reply: I've always thought that if one of Sam's children married into Pippin's family, one of them *must* have married into Merry's--it only makes sense!

Yes, this little story was a bit of a revelation to *me* too--now I know who Wyn married, and when, as well as Perry and Dilly!

I always enjoy your wedding ceremonies. They're so hobbity. :D And the Gamgee children have married into both the Took and the Brandybuck families. Now they are all truly family. Frodo would be so happy if he knew. :)

Author Reply: I've always felt that it was probable that at least one of Sam's children would marry into the Brandybucks. When I thought up this little idea, I thought it would be Pippin-lad or Hamfast, who are closer to Dilly in age. But, no, it was Merry's own namesake who stood up there next to Frodo-lad. I was quite surprised!

I think Frodo would have been *thrilled* to have Sam's children marry into Merry and Pippin's families!

I strongly suspect Frodo is proud indeed. How wonderful! And Pippin's final comment is SO Pippin! Love it!

Author Reply: Of course he is!

Pippin just *had* to have the last word. LOL!

Aw!! That's wonderful!!

"Pippin chuckled. “Two Merrys in the family now. Well, Estella will only have to call once at supper-time!”"

That's our Pip! LOL

Author Reply: Yes, it is very Pippin, isn't it? He always has to haave the last word if he can get it, LOL!

Ah, Dreamflower, I love your wedding stories. This one was especially touching, and, as you said, not what I expected! And leave it to Pip to give everyone a reason to laugh at the end. Weddings are wonderful, aren't they? :)
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: I enjoy writing weddings, especially hobbit weddings!

It seemed to me that having Merry *doing* the marrying instead of *being* married, would be fun. And I'd originally intended the bridegroom to be Pippin-lad, whose just a bit closer to her age; but the hobbits were ahead of me, and I was quite surprised to realize it was Merry-lad up there at the groom's place next to Frodo-lad! LOL!

And of course Pip had to have the last word!
