Oh, gosh! Little do they know! =)

Author Reply: Little do they know. Small ironies like that are something I really enjoy putting into drabbles--no need to spell anything out, since readers will be able to appreciate it anyway!

*sniff* How unfortunate that this scene couldn't have really taken place.

Author Reply: Oh, I dunno. I was imagining it as taking place only a day or so after the council, when they don't really know yet what's going to happen.

Little did they know. Such a shame that they ever had to find out but Boromir would have been very proud.

'Famous last words....'

Author Reply: Indeed. ;-)

Swimming in the bathing pool - and drying off on towels like blankets. It must seem like heaven after the Midgewater Marshes.

And I wonder if, in a few years, wide-eyed youngsters will be looking at their scars...

Author Reply: Well, for my Merry and Pippin, the answer is "yes". Although I am not sure they will ever be quite so unselfconscious of them as Boromir, for whom they are simply part of his identity as a soldier.

Aha! So somebody elde gets to utter the famous last words this time instead of leaving them to poor Theoden!

Author Reply: Well, of course we have the advantage of hindsight. But I was imagnining this as only one or two days after the Council, when they really do not quite understand just what is going to be expected of them yet.

This one gave me shivers. A good thing those lads had no idea - though they would have gone even if they had.

Author Reply: Yes, it was good, and yes--they would have. It would not be very long before they begin to understand, but right now they still don't quite realize what will be expected of them.

Wow...and we know better regarding those two young hobbits. You write these sweet drabbles so very well!

PF

Author Reply: Yes, and they are going to know better themselves before long, but right now they still don't quite understand all the danger yet...

Oo, that's a bit chilling, because of course they did have to worry about it in the end. I love the titles you come up with! :)
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Yes, I thought that might be a little ironical. I see this as being maybe just a day or so after the Council, before they really understood what was ahead of them, and how they would face the kind of dangers they would face.

Actually, I can't take credit for the titles. Those are from the prompts, at the LJ Community there_n_back, which is posting one a day this month, in celebration of "Back to Middle-earth month".
